"Bang!"

A gunshot rang out. The orange-yellow shell casing fell to the ground, rolling into the pool of blood below.

Mike glanced at the body, stepped over it without hesitation, and turned to leave.

The mission was complete.

He was finally free from the organization.

At least, that was their agreement.

After leaving the target's apartment, Mike drove off. He circled the streets a few times to make sure he wasn't being followed before heading to a baby supply store. There, he purchased formula, diapers, clothes, and some toys. Without delay, he left New York and drove to a small town several dozen kilometers away. After another ten minutes of driving, he reached the outskirts of the town, where a farm lay.

The Kent Farm.

This was his home—a secret no one in the Assassin's League knew.

Five years ago, after being transported from another Earth to this one, he inherited the farm from his late parents. Since then, he had barely set foot there.

For years, the farm had been managed by an elderly couple. Three months ago, however, the couple moved away to live with their children, and the farm was handed back to him.

Originally, Mike planned to sell the property. But two months ago, an unexpected event completely changed his mind.

Two months earlier, while visiting the farm to tidy up and prepare it for sale, something happened on his very first night there...

"Boom!"

The ground shook violently as an unexpected guest left a massive crater on his farmland.

"What the hell?"

Mike jolted awake, rolled out of bed, and quickly threw on a pair of pants. Grabbing the weapon he kept by his pillow, he rushed outside.

When he reached the nearby cornfield, he saw that a section of the neatly planted crops had been flattened. At the center of the destruction was a large crater. In its depths sat a small... spaceship.

His eyes widened in shock.

Ever since learning about Captain America's existence, Mike thought he was prepared for any surprises this world might throw at him. Yet, seeing a spaceship crash into his land filled him with a sense of absurdity.

The spaceship was small but radiated an advanced, futuristic design.

"What's going on here?"

Cautiously, Mike approached the ship.

As he drew near, the spaceship opened on its own, revealing... a baby.

Wait, a baby?

Mike froze at the sight of the sleeping infant. It wasn't until the baby let out a loud cry that he snapped back to his senses.

This scene... why did it feel so familiar?

A thought flashed through his mind. Moving quickly, he stepped up to the baby and gently lifted it out of the spaceship.

The baby was completely naked—a boy—with nothing to indicate his identity. Just then, a key-like object ejected from the spaceship and floated in front of him.

Reaching out, Mike grabbed the object and examined it closely. His eyes narrowed.

At the top of the key was a distinctive symbol: an "S."

That symbol...

"Krypton? Superman?!"

He whispered in shock, staring at the baby in his arms with disbelief.

Was this the future Superman?

And if so... what role was he supposed to play in this?

"Wahhh!"

The baby cried louder, as if sensing Mike's turmoil.

For now, all his questions were set aside. Mike hurriedly took off his jacket and wrapped it around the infant.

The warmth seemed to comfort the baby, whose cries gradually subsided. Under the silver moonlight, the baby opened his pure, sky-blue eyes and looked up at Mike. A smile spread across his tiny face.

In that moment, Mike felt as though an electric current had shot through him, making his heart clench.

He was reminded of the time—before being transported to this world—when he held his son for the very first time.

At this moment, two emotions overlapped in Mike's heart: a deep yearning and sorrow that had long been buried, and a profound sense of awe for the miracle of life.

He stood in silence for a few seconds before reaching out to gently tease the little one in his arms. His voice was soft yet resolute as he said, "From now on, I'll be counting on you, little guy."

As his words fell, and just as he turned to leave, a cold and distant voice that he had long forgotten echoed in his mind.

Heroic Father System successfully activated. Unique ability of the host is now unlocked.

"What?"

Mike thought he had misheard, but in the next moment, a system interface appeared in his mind.

*Heroic Father System*… What kind of ridiculous name is that? And what the hell is this system?

The corner of his mouth twitched slightly as he made his way back to the house, simultaneously examining the system in his mind.

*Host:* Mike Kent

*Starter Gift:* Assassin's Time

*Ability:* Memory Manifestation

*Current Ability Level:* LV1

*Upgrade Progress:* 0%

Memory Manifestation? What kind of ability is that?

Mike was perplexed but continued scrolling down the interface.

Under his personal information, a name was listed:

*Son:* Clark Kent (Kryptonian)

So, this child really is Superman? And he doesn't even need me to name him?

Looking at the system, Mike finally confirmed the identity of the baby in his arms.

Aside from the name, there was no other information or description under Clark's entry.

Wait a second…

The system has Clark's name on it. Could it be that Clark's appearance is related to the system?

Did the system orchestrate Clark's arrival in front of me?

Otherwise, how else could it be explained? Why would the system activate only after I decided to adopt Clark?

To think, this system had remained silent ever since it sent him the starter gift—granting him the assassin skills of the League of Assassins. After that, it was as if the system no longer existed, lying dormant for so long that Mike had almost forgotten it was even there.

Now, with the system's name Heroic Father System and Clark delivered directly into his arms, Mike felt a wave of helplessness wash over him.

What kind of bizarre system is this?!

From the looks of it, he now had a unique ability, and it could even level up. But how?

Isn't there some sort of manual for this?!

Unable to resist a sarcastic thought, Mike looked down at Clark, who had closed his eyes again and was sleeping peacefully. A soft smile crept onto Mike's face.

Innocent, pure, and beautiful…

From that moment on, he made up his mind to leave the organization behind. The next two months were spent tirelessly working toward that goal.

And tonight, he had finally completed the last task the organization had given him.

According to their agreement, he was now free from them.

With a silent sigh, he parked his car, opened the door, and stepped inside his house.

It was already late, but he noticed that the light in Clark's room was still on.

Could Clark still be awake?

Mike walked quietly toward Clark's room, his footsteps light.

Over the past two months, while carrying out his missions and severing ties with the organization, he had to hire a nanny to take care of Clark.

During this time, he had several phone conversations with the nanny, who assured him that Clark was well-behaved and rarely cried. Mike had also returned home once in the middle of it all and saw for himself that Clark was healthy and lively, which put his mind at ease.

Standing at the doorway, Mike carefully pushed the door open.

The soft light of the table lamp bathed the room in a warm glow. A plump middle-aged woman was sitting by the window, holding Clark in her arms and playing with him using her fingers.

Mike's previously gentle expression instantly turned cold. His voice was icy as he said, "How did you find this place?"

"Huh? Sir? What are you talking about? Why are you back at this hour?"

The middle-aged woman lifted her head, her face full of confusion.

Mike's hand moved instinctively to his waist. "You know as well as I do that, at this distance, I won't miss, Raven."
