Chapter 394: Sealed
Humans who ascend through faith rely on their divinity far more than other races gifted with innate talents.
"Once a divinity grows, it becomes their foundation. Unless they die, it cannot be destroyed."
"And it's even more impossible to lose it and still ascend to the eighth dimension without any repercussions!"
Death, like a deceived and violated maiden, glared at Zane, her tone growing increasingly indignant as she spoke. Her frail figure trembled uncontrollably with rage.
"Have any of your previous seeds ever reached the eighth dimension?"
Zane gazed at Death noncommittally. He knew none of the Reaper Legion he fought before had broken through to the eighth dimension.
"Also, haven't you always claimed I'm an outsider?"
"Perhaps it's precisely because of these two uncontrollable factors combined," Zane said with a playful smirk, his expression laced with intrigue. "That's why I ascended to the eighth dimension smoothly despite lacking the so-called divinity you speak of."
Zane wouldn't reveal the truth to her. He needed her trapped in doubt and confusion, her mind tethered to the illusion of 'Tsukuyomi,' immobilizing her consciousness entirely.
Even Zane couldn't guarantee that, over time, this primordial deity of the universe, Death, wouldn't devise some hidden method to break free of this illusionary space.
One thing Zane was certain of—he couldn't directly kill her here. If he did, she would simply resurrect and escape once more, as she had before. At that point, he might not have another chance to capture this unkillable entity who left him no openings.
"Is it the Phoenix Force?"
Death, seeing Zane's silence, pressed on relentlessly.
"Half right."
"When I saw the Planet Devourer without a divinity while the Celestials had transparent ones," Zane began, "I started wondering—what exactly are these divinities?"
"Who created them?"
"Back then, I speculated that TOAA deliberately used others to create the Celestials, so they could claim to maintain universal order while gradually causing the universe to collapse due to their ever-growing energy demands."
"Eventually, TOAA would harvest all the energy from the collapsing universe."
"And this divinity on my head? It's part of your own Death harvesting scheme."
Zane calmly recounted his thoughts. Upon hearing them, Death gave a bitter laugh.
"So you had already prepared to destroy your own divinity back then?"
"But you still haven't told me how you managed to do it..."
"No, you don't need to know."
"...."
Swish!
Zane withdrew from 'Tsukuyomi,' his left hand transforming into the phantom of a black skeleton, holding a transparent sword of light in his palm. In a flash, he thrust it into the stunned Death's body. A stream of light was drawn into the blade.
"No! This is the technique used to trap Tiamut..."
Death's wailing abruptly ceased.
In truth, during the last "Omniversal Summit" convened by the Living Tribunal, Death had already witnessed Zane using the "Ten Fist Sword" to seal and trap the slumbering Celestial Tiamut in a dream projection cast two millennia into the future.
She also knew that the Living Tribunal held this universal-scale summit because it had investigated the state of the slumbering Celestial across time and space.
Even the Living Tribunal—an entity of omniscience and omnipotence in this Omniversal Universe—was unable to resurrect the slumbering Celestial, whose existence was merely sealed.
Thus, the Living Tribunal concluded that the space-time sealing technique Zane employed must have originated from beyond this Omniversal Universe.
Naturally, it followed that Zane, the wielder of this technique, must also be an outsider—a visitor from another realm.
Moreover, it seemed highly likely that Zane was one of the "487," a member of the Transcendent God Clan that had once caused trouble for the Living Tribunal and all the deities of the Omniversal Universe.
For this reason, Death remained vigilant during her battles with Zane, particularly wary of the sealing technique wielded through his sword, in addition to his ocular powers.
At the time, she had not realized that both techniques stemmed from Zane's ocular abilities.
In the end, what Death feared most came to pass—she was sealed within the very "Ten Fist Sword" she had dreaded.
Zane, however, remained unaware of the far-reaching consequences his "Ten Fist Sword," unleashed through his Mangekyō Sharingan, would bring him.
He did understand, though, that his sealing space-time ability likely connected to an alternate dimension beyond the Marvel Universe.
After all, the S-rank skill "Infinite Martial Arts" he had won through the system's lottery had already given him a sense of divine energy originating from the Fake World.
This realization was why Zane ultimately chose to wield the "Ten Fist Sword" against unkillable beings like the slumbering Celestial and Death, sealing them in a space-time dimension inaccessible to the Marvel Universe's gods and their rule-based powers.
In other words, the Marvel Omniversal Universe no longer had Death.
No.
To be precise, the version of Death created by TOAA no longer existed.
Instead, a new Death, a new reaper for the Omniversal Universe, had taken her place.
This new Death was none other than Zane, who now possessed the power of Death itself.
A mere human from Earth, without a divine mantle of death, had ascended to become the supreme reaper of the Omniversal Universe.
If the previous Death were to learn of this, she would undoubtedly vomit a mouthful of old blood in fury.
What had lingered in her mind, even to the end, was the unanswered question Zane refused to address:
Why could Zane, a mere mortal, destroy the divine mantle she had relied on to grow, yet emerge unscathed?
While it was plausible Zane belonged to the Transcendent God Clan, even their transcendent beings could not easily achieve such a feat.
After all, it involved the very soul—the foundation of life itself.
No matter how powerful one might be, it was impossible to destroy one's soul without any repercussions, let alone advance further.
As Zane had once told Death, his ability to accomplish this feat was partially due to the aid of the Phoenix Force.
After successfully breaking through to the eighth dimension, Zane resolved to "deal with" the black divine mantle in his mind.
Drawing upon the immense energy feedback from his breakthrough, combined with the life-giving force of the Phoenix, Zane plunged his consciousness into his mind to confront the nearly pitch-black "walnut."
He tried countless methods, even reviving himself numerous times within the [Divine Realm], but to no avail.
Until suddenly, inspiration struck him.
