Chapter 78: Chapter 74. Summoning?
As Noah landed, his armor automatically dissipated, returning to his belt. The laboratory hadn't changed much since his last visit, and the progress of the experiments was slow—such things required time and meticulous work.
He approached one of the workstations and picked up a brass stopwatch, examining its intricate mechanisms and the blue energy glowing within. He was tempted to press the button and test its effect.
However, knowing that this stopwatch was single-use and would be destroyed after activation, he hesitated. It could only be used once, and after that, it would shatter. Unless he obtained more of these stopwatches or managed to create Zhonya's Hourglass, he couldn't afford to waste this artifact frivolously.
Putting the stopwatch back, Noah left this experimental area and headed to another section with a completely different atmosphere.
Here was the "PROJECT" lab. A holographic device in the center projected an image of a hunched figure, looking more like a beast than a man. Noah pressed a few buttons, and metallic armor appeared over the figure. It was "PROJECT: Warwick"—one of the forms he had summoned earlier, and he was now actively working on perfecting this secret weapon of the PROJECT corporation.
After adjusting some data, Noah moved to the training room, where he planned to perform the summoning.
"Phew, I was lucky in Asgard; I wonder if luck will favor me on Earth too?" Noah washed his face and positioned himself in the center of the empty room.
Looking around, he nodded with satisfaction, feeling that this was the perfect spot for the summoning. It was somewhat superstitious, but he believed in luck.
Sitting cross-legged, Noah opened the summoning interface. However, as he was about to press the button, his hand froze—he suddenly remembered an important detail: "Almost forgot, I haven't prayed yet this time! What if luck isn't on my side and I end up with nothing?"
Thinking about which deity to invoke for good fortune, inspiration suddenly struck him.
"That's it! This time I'll pray to one of Marvel's local gods," Noah straightened and composed himself.
"All-knowing and almighty Eternal, grant me luck! May this summoning be especially successful!" he said and immediately pressed the summoning button.
At the moment he recited the prayer, somewhere in the depths of the universe, an unseen gaze fell upon him.
On the summoning interface before Noah, glowing orbs began to appear, accompanied by the image of a chest. He tried to stay calm. Each summoning made his heart race, knowing that in the next moment, his power could grow exponentially. The tension and anticipation were so intense that he couldn't remain indifferent.
He carefully selected one of the glowing orbs, deciding to open them one by one to heighten the suspense.
As the light faded, he saw the contents of the first orb.
[Health Potion x12]
"What?" Noah was a bit taken aback by the summoned items. "Hey, system, have you turned into a wholesale dealer? How does one summon twelve potions?"
A leather bandolier with twelve health potions appeared before him. He counted them—exactly twelve.
"Did the prayer actually work? How else to explain getting so many potions at once?" He glanced around the room, half-expecting the Eternal to have truly heard him.
"Well, if luck's on my side, I need to keep going!" He pressed the second orb.
[Needlessly Large Rod]
"Great, now I can craft Rabadon's Deathcap!" Noah was pleased. He already had one rod, and now, with two, he could create the famed Deathcap.
[Control Ward x6]
[Random Champion Shard x1]
[Mana Potion x12]
"Feels more like I'm shopping at a wholesale supermarket than participating in a draw," Noah muttered, looking at the six control wards and twelve mana potions in front of him. Still, despite his joke, he was satisfied with the amount of items he had obtained.
"A champion shard is great."
He picked up the new shard. Now he had five fragments: Jhin, Ekko, Lulu, Neeko, and this new, yet-to-be-revealed random shard. Noah had decided to keep Jhin and Ekko for himself.
Ekko was valuable for his knowledge, while Jhin had potential in terms of skins, especially the "Dark Star" and "Shan Hai Scrolls" series. Remembering the Shan Hai series, he suddenly thought that Neeko also had a skin from that line, so he decided to keep her shard. However, he thought Lulu could be used as fusion material. The abilities he wanted from her he already possessed, and Pix didn't interest him much.
Noah looked at the remaining glowing orbs—he had already opened five, leaving five more.
[Dark Seal]
"A killer's ring?" He held the summoned ring. In the game, this item, also known as the "Dark Seal," increased spell power as the wearer defeated enemy champions. He remembered that this ring was needed to create the "Mejai's Soulstealer," so he decided to try merging it with other items.
"No luck?" He attempted a fusion, but nothing happened. He could feel a potent force emanating from the ring.
"Do I need to absorb the souls of others to activate it?" Noah wondered.
"Alright, I'll test it during the next mission," he said, slipping the ring onto his middle finger—it fit perfectly. Then, using the same finger, he opened the seventh glowing orb.
[Life Pendant]
Noah wasn't particularly familiar with this item, but he vaguely recalled that it was a support item.
[Mikael's Blessing]
The eighth orb turned out to be particularly fortunate—he had received a full-fledged artifact! With surprise, he held a golden bell adorned with magical runes.
"This is the first full item I've gotten."
"Ding-ding~"
Noah shook the little bell, and its clear, melodic sound immediately calmed him. It seemed that this artifact truly had calming properties, and activating its healing and protective powers would likely require magical energy.
[Random Hero Experience Card x1]
He wasn't sure how useful this item was. He already had two of these cards. Hero experience cards allowed temporary transformation into a chosen hero but didn't grant permanent abilities like summoned hero skins did. Therefore, he considered these cards somewhat impractical.
However, recalling his experience when he transformed into Tahm Kench, when the system chose the right card for him, Noah realized they could be handy in a critical situation. If he faced a powerful enemy, the system might help him select a strong hero, like Aurelion Sol, to handle the threat.
For now, these cards had no immediate use, so he decided to keep them in his inventory.
"The last orb. Let's see if I can summon a hero. Card games usually guarantee a rare drop on the tenth try. I hope that applies here too."
Noah pressed the final orb, and bright light flared before his eyes, streaming straight into his mind.
"No way! What luck!"
[Void Walker – Kassadin]
