Chapter 85: Chapter 81. Count Your Sins

"What the… Where is he?!" the thugs exclaimed in shock when sudden sounds emerged behind them.

"Aaaaah!"

Terrified screams echoed through the dark alley, making the atmosphere even more sinister. As they turned around, they saw the white-haired thug already at the alley's edge, and a strange figure somehow appeared behind them. How did he get around us and end up in the back?

The white-haired one, who was trying to flee, nearly dropped his gun in fear upon seeing Noah's sudden appearance. He hurriedly backed away, attempting to keep his distance from him.

"Listen, he's the one who was going to attack you," the white-haired thug quickly muttered, pointing at the bloodied 'Cripple' lying on the ground. "Kill him if you want, but let me go! I can give you money."

The white-haired thug's words earned him angry glares from 'Cripple's' allies, but Noah remained silent. He hadn't uttered a word from the beginning.

He slightly raised his hand, pointing his finger at the white-haired thug, who instinctively tensed, but Noah still didn't act. The tension in the air grew, and the white-haired thug's nerves hit their peak, fueled by the heavy breathing and curses of the thugs around him.

"Damn it! Shoot! Kill him!!" the white-haired thug suddenly shouted, realizing there was no escape for him. Under his command, the thugs fired at Noah again.

A volley of bullets rained down on him, but as he raised his index finger, it glowed yellow, and the air around suddenly burst with flashes of lightning. Electric discharges, like cracks in space, spread around, enveloping the bullets and melting them into a burning mass.

"What the hell?!" one of the thugs shouted. "Oh my god, it's a god! We've angered a god!!"

Panic gripped the crowd as they watched their bullets melt. Noah directed a powerful surge of lightning at the white-haired thug. He didn't even have time to scream as his body slowly turned into a charred corpse, emitting the foul smell of burning flesh, causing the other thugs to gag.

But it wasn't over. On his index finger, a ring glimmered beneath a purple glove. Although wearing a ring under a glove was strange, he felt no discomfort – the glove seemed to adjust itself to the ring.

The ring emitted a faint glow, and a translucent white figure – his soul – began to form above the charred corpse of the white-haired thug. Staring in confusion at his dead body, the thug's spirit looked utterly bewildered.

"What… what is that?!" one of the thugs shouted in panic as he noticed the soul.

"Huh? They can see him?" Noah was surprised, realizing the thug's spirit was visible to the others. He hadn't expected ordinary people to see souls; perhaps this was a feature of the ring.

However, focusing, he activated the Dark Seal, and the white-haired thug's spirit became even more transparent until it faded from the remaining thugs' view. Those who survived began to panic, looking around for the missing soul.

"That's better," he nodded, as the ring glowed again, and the white-haired thug's soul, pulled by a powerful force, started to drift toward him. The spirit let out a piercing scream, but no one could hear it. His essence was gradually absorbed by the Dark Seal.

The remaining thugs didn't hear the white-haired thug's scream. Terrified to their core, they started to flee in panic, leaving behind 'Cripple' and their boss. Saving their own lives had become more important than anything.

"Hat, it's your turn now."

Noah didn't rush to stop the fleeing thugs. Instead, he addressed his large hat. A wide grin spread across the hat's brim, as if it was excited to show off.

The hat lifted off his head and floated into the air. Circling around as if in anticipation, it charged toward the fleeing thugs. Passing by 'Cripple,' who was already on the ground, the hat released a stream of magical fire, engulfing him. The fire was so fierce that 'Cripple' was burned to ashes amid ghastly screams.

Noah raised his hand and absorbed the soul that remained after 'Cripple,' adding it to the already captured one. After consuming two spirits, he could already feel a significant power boost from the ring. The strength it granted was surprisingly easy to obtain.

He wondered: if he collected all the souls of New York, America, or maybe even the whole world, how powerful could he become? But shaking his head, he dismissed these frightening thoughts. Then he waved his hand in the air, creating a wall of wind that blocked the path of the escapees.

One of the thugs, running at the front, didn't notice the barrier and crashed into it at full speed. The wall, strengthened by sword energy, was like a meat grinder to him, and his body exploded in a bloody cloud. The horrifying sight made the others freeze in place, their legs shaking in fear.

A sudden sound made the tense criminals look up. They saw Noah's hat floating in the sky. One of them tried to shoot, but the bullet melted in a blue flame released by the hat. The fire didn't extinguish and lunged at the shooter, turning him into another charred figure.

The hat began a game of cat and mouse, spreading streams of fire, making people scream and scramble to escape. Noah raised an eyebrow, watching the hat entertain itself.

However, he decided to end the fight faster. His right hand flared with purple light, and he instantly teleported to the center of the enemy group. From his body, a wave of purple energy spread, turning everyone it touched to dust. Absorbing the souls, he felt his power grow.

He unleashed lightning again, striking one thug, then another, forming a chain that linked them all. Soon they began to shake uncontrollably under the electricity. Increasing the charge, Noah watched as one by one, they fell to the ground, smoke billowing from their bodies, and their lives faded.

Dozens of souls were absorbed by the Dark Seal, and the surge of power he felt was so strong that he took a deep breath, savoring the sensation.

Meanwhile, inside a room, Black, hearing that everything had gone quiet outside, decided to take a peek through the peephole. What he saw made his blood run cold with horror. Neither he nor Layton had attempted to flee, assuming that some old enemies were dealt with outside, but now, seeing this, they realized the danger.

"Damn it, run! There's a monster out there!" Black, in a white suit, screamed in panic, bouncing away from the door and rushing toward the back exit.

"What? What happened?" Layton asked, confused by his partner's reaction.

"Boom!"

But before Layton could answer, a loud explosion sounded. The iron door burst open, and a robed figure entered the room.

Looking at the two gang leaders, Noah realized they were the most dangerous of all those he had to eliminate tonight. This was confirmed by the information received from Lissandra.

"Today I'll see how dark your souls really are," he said, clenching his hand in the air. Magical energy gathered around the two men in suits, lifting them off the ground and squeezing them in its invisible grip.

"Aaaah!" they screamed as Noah slowly clenched his hand. Under the pressure, their ribs began to crack, blood started to trickle from their eyes, ears, noses, and mouths. In an instant, Noah clenched his fist harder, and the two bodies exploded in mid-air, turning into a bloody pulp.

Watching the scene, Noah frowned. He noticed that recently, he had been giving in to anger too easily. After a brief reflection, he realized that this might be the influence of the Dark Seal. However, the effect was minor, and if he was careful, it wouldn't become a problem.

Extracting the souls from their bodies, he looked at the two pale spirits and smirked. He decided to test their reaction to electricity and released a magical bolt of lightning. The souls immediately screamed in agony.

"Hm? Looks like it works," his eyes glimmered with interest. After a few more jolts, he absorbed them into the ring.

Sensing the Dark Seal's state, he realized it would take many more souls to fully saturate it. But he wasn't in a hurry – Hell's Kitchen had enough people to fill this ring.

After he dealt with the enemies, he glanced at a few rooms where people were held captive. He instructed Lissandra to hack into the NYPD systems and anonymously report the location of the human trafficking gang. Though shocked by the hack, the police still dispatched a few officers for a check.

Soon, the police arrived on the scene, finding piles of corpses. Many officers were horrified, and some rookies even started to vomit at the sight.

After a thorough search of the building, they found and freed dozens of girls kidnapped from different parts of the world.
