Marvel: I Started by Containing SCPs

Chapter 203: Chapter 203

Loki: "If you're so curious, why not confront the Shy Guy and ask about Mount Everest and the Snow Mountain King? It might actually tell you something."

Piccolo: "If you were in my universe, I'd throw you right in front of that thing and let you ask it yourself!"

Loki: "Heh, lucky for me, we're not in the same universe."

["Next, we'll introduce a new containment entity: the Underground Flame Giant."]

The screen revealed a photograph. It depicted a towering statue over 30 meters tall, appearing to be carved from stone. The figure held a whip in one hand and a longsword in the other, with ram-like horns crowning its head.

"This looks oddly familiar," Odin muttered, feeling a sense of déjà vu but unable to recall why.

["The Foundation first received reports of a fire breaking out in a coal mine. The blaze persisted for weeks despite extensive efforts to extinguish it. Toxic gas began leaking from the surrounding underground areas, killing anyone who inhaled it. No known medical treatment could save them."]

["Initially, the incident was dismissed as a common mining accident. However, rescuers exploring the mine discovered a massive underground cavern that seemed to connect to multiple locations. Within the cavern, they encountered a terrifying entity: the Flame Giant."]

["Realizing the severity of the situation, the Foundation dispatched a Mobile Task Force. However, before they could arrive, numerous civilian casualties were reported."]

["Witnesses described sudden ground tremors, followed by a whip emerging from the earth to drag victims below. Some even claimed to see a massive hand reach out. Though no one saw the entity in its entirety, the areas it touched were engulfed in flames that could not be extinguished."]

["After gathering eyewitness accounts, the Foundation sent a well-equipped task force with advanced fireproof gear into the mine. They discovered the underground passage and eventually encountered the Flame Giant."]

["Footage captured only a shadowy figure before the camera was destroyed. Gunfire and screams followed, then silence. All subsequent reports relied on the testimonies of six severely injured survivors from a team of thirty elite operatives."]

["According to survivors, the Flame Giant's eyes burned with 'hellfire,' and its form seemed to be a fusion of flame, smoke, and solidified volcanic magma. It could change shape at will and even vanish, becoming a massive, flying shadow—likely the one captured on camera."]

["Despite their best efforts, the task force's weapons were utterly ineffective, as though firing bullets into molten lava. The Flame Giant retaliated with devastating force, leaving only six survivors."]

["Descriptions of the entity varied widely. Most agreed it had ram-like horns, while others claimed it also had massive fangs larger than a human arm. Some said it possessed both horns and fangs, with a flaming beard and a face wreathed in fire. There was no consensus on whether it had wings. All survivors agreed, however, that it wielded a flaming multi-tailed whip and a sword several meters long."]

["The Flame Giant was capable of moving with surprising speed and silence for its size. Survivors noted its breath reeked of sulfur and old chimneys. Air samples taken from the area revealed abnormally high levels of carbon monoxide and dioxide."]

["Despite repeated attempts to contain it, the Flame Giant's domain remains an impenetrable stronghold. The underground network it resides in is like its personal playground, and its ability to shape-shift and blend into the environment has made it impossible to capture."]

["Fortunately, the Flame Giant appears restricted to a two-kilometer radius centered on its discovery site. If it ever moves beyond this range, immediate notification to the O5 Council is mandatory."]

The screen's explanation ended, and Odin's expression darkened as recognition dawned on him.

"Surtur!" he muttered, recalling one of his greatest foes. Even in his prime, Odin could not guarantee victory against the Fire Giant Surtur, whose power was unimaginable.

Surtur, with the heat of a thousand suns, possessed the ability to destroy planets. His Twilight Sword could reshape reality, shatter dimensions, and resist the Odinforce. If Surtur ever returned, Asgard would face its greatest peril.

Odin remembered how he had once stolen Surtur's Eternal Flame to weaken him, forcing the giant to remain in Muspelheim.

"No… this entity can't be Surtur. It's confined underground and incapable of reaching the surface. It must simply resemble him," Odin reassured himself, though doubt lingered. Could this truly be a coincidence?

"The two containment entities revealed today don't seem particularly formidable. If one appeared here, we could contain it without much trouble," Kizaru suggested.

"I agree," Akainu nodded, casting a sidelong glance at Aokiji. Determined to surpass his rival, Akainu sought any opportunity to prove himself.

"Don't get ahead of yourselves. We still don't know where they'll appear," Garp interjected, munching on a rice cracker.

["Prediction: The two containment entities will appear in the DC Universe. The Snow Mountain King is projected to emerge in Iceland, while the Underground Flame Giant is expected to surface beneath Central City."]
