Chapter 6: hearing

"Please let me leave," the boy begged, his voice trembling. "I promise you'll never see me again."

Jason heard the desperate pleading from the hallway, sitting on the couch and rubbing his waist. He had chained the boy to the bed, making sure he couldn't escape. He wasn't sure about all the boy's powers, but Jason did what he could to avoid any surprises.

"Let's see what he has to say," Jason muttered to himself as he stood and moved toward the room.

When the boy saw him, his pleading only grew louder. "Please, let me go. Please."

Jason sighed, clearly annoyed. "Shut up. You're making me regret not just killing you," he snapped, his patience wearing thin from the constant begging.

When the boy fell silent, Jason looked at him. "Start with your name."

The boy didn't answer. Just more silence.

Jason let out another frustrated sigh, moving toward the rod in the corner. He picked it up, just in case he needed it.

The boy seemed even more scared now, his eyes wide. "Please, don't beat me," he pleaded.

Jason stopped for a second, wondering why he suddenly felt like the villain in this situation. He shook his head, trying to shake off the feeling.

Tightening his grip on the rod, he looked at the boy again, his tone harsher this time. "Start talking. Or should I make you?"

The threat seemed to do the trick.

"Please, don't hurt me! I'll talk, just don't bring that thing near me!" The boy's voice was shaky, his body trembling as tears welled up in his eyes.

"I... I'm Benjamin," he stammered, choking on his words. "Benjamin Trump."

Jason narrowed his eyes, his tone flat. "Alright, Trump. Are you a mutant?"

The pain in his back didn't need to remind him that the person in front of him had some sort of power. But he still needed to know if the boy was a mutant or something else. After all, there was no shortage of possibilities.

Hearing the question, Benjamin's eyes widened, sweat beading on his forehead, his mouth hanging open, unable to form a response. The silence spoke volumes, and that was enough for Jason to draw his conclusion.

"I'll take that as a yes," Jason muttered, before moving on to the next question. "How did you get the house keys?"

The boy had the original keys, the ones belonging to Jason's dad. Jason had found them while going through the boy's things.

"Your dad gave it to me," Benjamin finally spoke, catching Jason off guard.

"My dad gave it to you?" Jason repeated, his voice laced with confusion. He froze, staring at the boy as if he'd lost his mind. You expect me to believe that?

"Listen, I know it sounds crazy, but I'm telling the truth," Benjamin said, his voice shaky. "If you don't believe me, just call your dad. He'll explain everything. Please... just let me go." He glanced at Jason, noticing the confusion flickering across his face, hoping his words would be enough.

Hearing him only made Jason angrier. Although the original Jason's father wasn't really his father, he was similar enough to remind Jason of his own. And now, this kid was telling him to talk to a man who was dead.

Jason kept his anger in check, but his voice was still cold. "When did you meet him, and why did he give you the keys?"

He took a step closer, eyes locked on the boy. "Speak everything. If I find any loopholes, I'll insert this rod in your backhole," Jason said, his tone leaving no room for doubt.

Benjamin's face went pale, his hands trembling. "I'll talk," he muttered, barely audible. "I'll tell you everything. Just... don't do anything."

He started talking, his words rushed and uneven, like he was afraid they wouldn't come out fast enough.

The kid said he had powers, the ability to move things without touching them. It started out small, nothing major, just enough to freak his mom out. His dad was already gone, and his mom wasn't handling it well. Things got worse. She didn't just shut him out she got violent.

So, Benjamin ran. Like a lot of kids in this world, he thought getting away would fix things. But freedom didn't last. He was grabbed by a group used for experiments, tests, whatever they wanted. It was hell.

Benjamin said he only escaped because another group attacked. "Chaos saved my life," he said, his voice shaky.

Somehow, Jason's father just ran into him and offered him a place to stay.

"That's everything," he finished, his voice breaking. "If you don't believe me, you can ask your dad."

Jason froze for a moment, his expression unreadable. His mind raced as he pieced together the boy's story

"That explains it," Jason muttered to himself, piecing it together. When his father came back from Texas, there was something about him that wasn't right. His behavior had shifted, and now Jason was starting to understand why.

His father's death was an accident, so there was never a chance for any explanation.

Looking at the boy, Jason couldn't tell what the truth was. There was no way to find out, and honestly, there was no need to either.

Fully cinematic, he muttered, thinking the story was perfect entertainment.

He didn't feel pity maybe a little, but there was no need to show it.

"What's your plan if I let you go?" he asked.

(Another place)

"Any updates?" the man asked, his eyes still fixed on the documents in front of him.

The assistant glanced at the screen before responding, "We have a general idea of where most of them are." He tapped the screen, highlighting several areas.

"P7, H33 together, last spotted near North Carolina."

"B5, N3, P32 down in South Carolina."

"TK9's still in Texas."

"They're the only ones still rogue. The rest have joined other groups. But we're still hunting them."

The man leaned back in his chair, frustration boiling. "Millions wasted. All this tech... gone. The specimens... lost. All because of those damn mutants."

He slammed his fist on the table, fury in his voice. "How dare those freaks come after us?"

The assistant paused before continuing. "We found the attackers. They appear to be our previous captives, who were saved during the Magneto raid in the Utah facility last year."

"Apparently, they've formed their own group now, saving mutants."
