Chapter 18: Chapter 17
"Damian… what exactly is that?" Charles Xavier; a man that was known for his calm personality in front of weirdness, a requirement in order to teach a school full of mutants, asked with a weirded out expression. A rather fitting act in his opinion as he gazed at the monster, that must have crawled out of hell after being thrown there by God who must have been drunk while creating it, standing beside Damian and Laura.
And of course his newest student merely looked at him like he was some sort of moron before raising the beverage in his hand and answering.
"A smoothie." What wouldn't Xavier give to have his legs be functioning enough to kick this damn student in the face. Fortunately for him, he didn't have to give anything as Laura had punched Damian by his side. She looked rather mad too, but not angry mad. More like pouting 'my friend are so dumb' mad. It was a look that Xavier had recognized from dealing with his students for so long.
"You're still mad?" Damian asked with a frown directed towards young Laura who simply huffed at him and went inside, taking the monstrous horse with her.
"Wait! At least leave Bob with me!" The demon's name was what?!
"Quiet down kid." Logan said with a tired glare directed at Damian.
"You are lucky that the ridiculous horse is the only thing she's taking with her after letting that masked bozo stab you in the chest."
"He did what?!" Some days being the headmaster just was not worth it.
——————————
Not going to lie, if I had known that defeating the Walmart Doctor Doom the way I did would have lead to this situation; I would have allowed him to rough up the Fantastic Four a little bit more.
Laura was seriously mad at me for the way I had just allowed him, and everyone else, to think that he had stabbed me with the lance and had been giving me the cold shoulder since then. She had even taken my noble steed Bob from me!
"Come on, I said I'm sorry." I said with a groan as I looked down at Laura who was glaring at side, her gaze averted from me. I hadn't thought that she would have been this affected, was the sight of someone getting skewered with a lance that much of a shock to her? Even though the Facility must have shown, or made her do, far worse things.
"Idiot." Laura muttered as she kept refusing to look at me. I tried to think of something, anything really, to say in order to defuse this tension but before I could say anything; Laura turned around and punched my arm, right before hugging me.
"Don't ever do that again." She said, her voice muffled by my chest, and I patted her back; awkwardly.
Honestly, this was making me feel really bad; and the unamused stare Bob was giving me was not helping either! The demonic equine was not amused by what was happening in front of him, a fact that I knew only due to my telepathy. Though what I was doing was closer to empathy due to the fact that Bob's brain worked nothing like that of a human's, making his thoughts more akin to impressions. His impression when I had slapped down Walmart Doom and calmed him down was that he was happy to be rid of loudmouth weirdo with lance. His current impression was that I was an idiot.
"Shut up Bob." I muttered as I hugged Laura tighter, thinking about how to properly apologize to her.
————————
"So, what do you think of him?" Chuck asked him and Logan could only groan before answering.
"To be perfectly honest Chuck, he scares the crap out of me." He admitted as he popped open a beer.
"If we go simply by powers, he is the strongest person in this institute. Hell, he might still be the strongest when you put everything on the table; considering how he did against Magneto."
"You know Erik was not giving his all in that battle, right?" Chuck asked with a raised eyebrow and Logan answered with a snort.
"Of course I do. And you know that his performance was far better than what he tends to show against the kids." The fact that Magneto held back in order to not hurt young mutants was the sole reason that Logan had not stabbed Chuck with adamantium claws, and even then it had been a close call for the telepath.
"The kid is not simply strong, he is also smart about how he uses his powers. I saw the way he could transform his body but still would never think of using it to make the enemy that they actually stabbed him for a surprise attack. The one who is closest to having such ideas is Bobby and even his ideas for ice are rather simple compared to that." Logan said with a huff.
"Logan, can you please tell me what you really want to say?" Chuck asked with a sigh and Logan felt a smirk appearing on his face, nice to see his old friend still had the stones to actually cut the chase. Though admittedly, Logan was kinda miffed that the telepath did that only when it wasn't him who was doing the whole long speech thing.
"Very well, I'm not sure about letting the rest of the students near Damian. He's planning something."
"And how did you come to such conclusion?" Chuck asked with a raised eyebrow and Logan huffed through his nose.
"Our first impression with him was shit, and that was mostly your fault. But then he accepted our offer, even if it is somewhat understandable with the way Magneto introduced himself, and came to the institute where he socialized with people like a normal boy; a normal boy that makes no secret of the fact that he doesn't think much of your dream. Which brings us to our last question." Logan took a deep breath before finishing it.
"What does he want?"
