Marvel: President Stark

Chapter 73: Chapter 73 - Into The Whitehouse I

"Five-twenty-two?!" Tony exclaimed when he heard Pepper. But the very next moment he typed on the screen and looked up. "The winner by the third highest margin in history? Sounds alright."

"That, and the first landslide win in twenty years. Only the second Independent win since Washington!" Pepper hollered, barely holding back her excitement. "Oh, and I assembled the legal team you asked for. Since you're still not letting go of Stark Industries, it's more a political issue than legal. No law prevents a President from keeping a business—but the lawyers will make sure we avoid any conflict of interest accusations."

Tony shrugged at that and finished the call. Stark Industries had the best legal team in the country, if not the world.

"Five-twenty-two? Congratulations, Mr. President." Reed wiped his hands with a towel and approached Tony. "Can I expect quick approvals for my first test flight now?"

Tony smirked and folded his arms. "Work with me on a new Iron Guardian design. Then I might."

"I don't have time t—"

"How about March of next year? Sounds like a nice date to shoot some rockets in the sky. I'll take the office in January, and after that…" Tony threw out the bait with obvious meanings. He wanted to work on his nanotech, after all, and having Reed could boost the development speed by a great margin.

"When do we start?" Reed bluntly asked. March was much earlier than he was expecting already. "But I want access to the Light Speed engine's data you stole."

"Stole?" Tony eyed him seriously.

"Scavaged."

"Scavaged?" Tony's brows shot up this time, arms folded.

Reed awkwardly scratched his head. "I mean, discovered, Mr. President."

"Deal."

With that, the two geniuses shook hands.

With the November election results finalized, Tony started working on who he was going to include in his cabinet. There were a lot of firings and hiring needed to be done. Although he had a long list of names already, a few top ones were going to be people whose interests were derived from him, and who had powers that'd help them in their field.

For example, he decided to try Charles Xavier as the Secretary of State. The man moved around in a wheelchair, and that tended to lower the guards of others around. With telepathic powers, Charles could help him greatly.

Treasury was going to an actual, normal human that Tony knew personally. The man was no politician but rather a professor of economics. In the end, Tony didn't even need a real Secretary of Treasury since he was going to heavily utilize Jarvis' computational power to drive America's economy by analyzing data from around the world. The Secretary's job was only to listen to Jarvis and Tony.

The Attorney General was selected from an ex-Stark Industries' senior lawyer who had retired and was currently enjoying time with his grandkids on a ranch. The man was more than happy to serve Tony Stark once again, as the man worked for Howard in the past too.

Tony also included Ororo as the Secretary of Agriculture due to her powers. But her role was going to be expanded in a way that her actions would affect the world.

As for the Secretary of Defense, Tony chose none other than his tried and tested friend, Rhodes. He needed a trustworthy and sane voice to take that department, and he was glad he had one. Fury was an option, but he didn't trust the man completely.

Furthermore, he chose Raven as his Chief of Staff due to her ability to change disguises at will. He hoped to use her to breeze through deals, tough politicians, and foreign guests. Everyone had skeletons in their closets, after all.

Finally, he picked Darcy as his Chief Secretary. There were a few more appointments, but he was in no hurry to choose them.

"Tony, you can't be serious. You're flying there?"

Tony chuckled, midair, speaking to Pepper in his helmet. "Relax, I already took the real oath yesterday—had a little private ceremony and everything. Today's just the encore."

Since 20th January 2013 fell on a Sunday that year, Tony couldn't take his oath as the President at the Capitol building. He had to take it privately, and then redo it on the 21st, on Monday. But since this was just for the show, he decided to give them a good one.

"Wait for me at my new crib, Pepper. I'll need you in my office when I'm there for…"

"No!" Pepper barked. "That will not be the first thing you'll do in the office. Be more serious, Tony!"

"You assumed what I wanted, and now somehow it's my fault? Sure, go ahead, tell me. I know you're just dying to do it there, right?" Tony teased her playfully. "Imagine being laid on that table, me between your legs, your moans fill the room oozing with history—exciting, no?"

"Ehm! Yeah..." Pepper coughed and hid her affirmation with it. "You got the speech ready?"

"It's more of a declaration."

"So it's nothing out of the ordinary. Then I'll see you at the White House later. Please be safe, Tony, you have a lot of enemies now."

"That's why I'm flying with my fleet." Tony cut the call and smirked, glancing at the 50 Iron Guardians, 25 on each of his sides. They were painted differently in American colors, inspired by Captain America's outfit—Red, white, and blue.

Woosh!

He reached the skies of Washington, D.C., and did a flyby with so many Iron Guardians. The crowd was massive, spread throughout the massive lawn. The cheers resounded as if it were a concert, and the massive screens placed on the sides showed him.

It was unknown if they were just fans of Tony Stark, or genuinely felt proud at having a man like him represent their nation. He was certainly the youngest, most intellectually gifted, and best non-political President they ever got.

Shhhh~

Tony and the Iron Guardians started to descend down on the Capitol building overlooking the crowds. Massive curtains of American flags were on display all over. Countless bureaucrats and politicians stood near the oath-taking podium. But as the Iron Guardians descended, many had to step back and make some space.

Clank!

Clank!

One after another, 50 Iron Guardians created a wall right behind the podium. Then, Tony landed in front of the wall and waved at the people. He pretty much declared at that moment that he wasn't going to entrust some government agency with his safety. If there were already traitors powerful enough to deploy nukes, he had to be ready for the worst.

Quickly, Tony's faceplate shifted and revealed his handsome face with that trimmed iconic beard. He didn't step out of his suit, defining his presidency from that moment itself. The people weren't just getting Tony Stark as their leader, but Iron Man too.

Soon, the Vice-President took the oath first. For this position, Tony chose a politician with some experience, since he did need a helping hand somewhere along the line. It was one of the most loyal politicians to Stark Industries as the man flourished under Howard Stark's aid, and then Tony's.

Finally, Tony's turn came, and he stepped forward, looming in height over the Chief Justice thanks to his metal suit. He raised his metallic right hand and repeated the words.

"I, Anthony Edward Stark, do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will, to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States."

Tony blurted the oath in the most uninterested tone possible. Yet, the people gathered there cheered as if he just erased all taxes. But he simply smiled and waved at the people. Since he had no friends there, or a First Lady, he merely focused on the crowd.

He waved for a long time, waiting for the people to slowly calm down. The men around him tried to wave their hands as if trying to guide him somewhere. But he refused to leave and instead stepped in front of the podium.

"Good morning, America!" Tony finally cranked up the volume, flashing that trademark smirk.

"I'm supposed to head to the Senate chamber and read a speech to the members of Congress and other dignitaries—but that's not my style. You, the people, made me the President with your votes—So my speech today, or I suppose my first ten decisions as the President, will be addressed to you right here and now!"
