Marvel: Restart! Spiderman!

Chapter 85: Ch.85 There Is No Tesseract in This World

Outskirts of New York, abandoned warehouse.

Boom~

A Quinjet swept across the night sky, and young Steve descended steadily with the help of a parachute.

Clank clank…

On the rooftop, Tony, in his Mark armor, looked down at Steve who had just landed.

"Got stuck in traffic, Popsicle?" he mocked.

Young Steve gripped his shield tightly, ready to let all his frustration out.

"Stark, I'm going to teach you a lesson."

Tony didn't seem to care, but the next moment, he frowned and looked behind Steve.

"I thought we agreed no one would call for backup."

Young Steve was confused, "I didn't call for anyone."

He turned around instinctively, looking surprised.

...

Late night, Helicarrier.

"Are they still not back?"

In the conference room, Nick Fury was growing increasingly anxious.

Barton had been compromised, and his pool of superpowered heroes was limited. He was counting on these two to handle this crisis.

If anything happened to them, his Avengers initiative would face total collapse.

Coulson, understanding Fury's predicament, shook his head and said, "I've already sent a team after them; we should hear back soon."

Just as he spoke, his communicator buzzed, and Coulson quickly answered.

"They've disappeared. We only found the jet they left nearby."

"What?!"

Hearing this, Fury's face darkened.

"They must be in trouble."

"Have someone keep an eye on Stark Tower," Old Steve suddenly suggested.

Fury frowned, "Why?"

Old Steve explained, "Because Loki will open a space portal there to welcome the Chitauri army."

"A portal? Magic from the gods?" Fury questioned.

Old Steve elaborated, "To open a space portal, one needs the Tesseract, which is why Loki wants to steal it."

"What's the Tesseract?" Fury asked again.

"This world doesn't have a Tesseract?" Old Steve was stunned.

Nearby, Charlie frowned. "Without the Space Stone, it's hard to say how the Chitauri will invade Earth."

Old Steve's expression turned grim. "So that's the difference between multiverses?"

"Not every universe has Infinity Stones."

Charlie shared his speculation, then continued looking down at the handheld computer.

On the screen, the map of New York had many red dots marking locations where the participants had been spotted, and it was continuously updating.

Norman, Dr. Connors, Peter Parker, Electro Max, Hydra Steve, and Bucky had all been detected.

But they were moving so quickly that they wouldn't stay in the monitored areas for more than three minutes, making it impossible for Charlie to intercept them in time.

SHIELD's intelligence system was advanced, but it couldn't cover every corner of the city.

Thus far, Charlie hadn't managed to pinpoint the whereabouts of Doctor Strange.

The Sorcerer Supreme, as expected, was quite elusive.

He flicked his finger, and a video of the battle between Electro and Hydra Steve near the abandoned warehouse appeared on the screen.

After Charlie left, they started fighting each other, but there was no definitive victor.

Electro was fast, but his electricity output couldn't break through Charlie's defenses.

On the other hand, Hydra Steve and Bucky's defenses were fairly average. If not for their insane regenerative abilities, they would have been defeated by Electro long ago.

In the end, Electro ran out of power due to the prolonged battle, giving Hydra Steve and Bucky a chance to escape.

Charlie felt it was a shame. He should've doubled back to finish the job.

No, if he went back, those guys would just have another common target to team up against—they'd still end up ganging up on him.

Right now, Electro had already left the city, and the power plant in the suburbs was probably doomed.

Looking at the footage from Hamlet Street, two Lokis had appeared one after another, but Thor was still missing.

Due to the presence of the participants, the original storyline had been severely altered, and using his omniscient perspective to navigate this chess game seemed impossible.

But even without the omniscient perspective, Charlie could create it.

In short, while obtaining a resurrection slot for himself, he needed to make sure Hydra Steve and Bucky didn't succeed, or else they'd continue to be a problem.

With this thought, Charlie locked onto the coordinates of the place where Tony and Steve had decided to face off.

The Quinjet was parked nearby, meaning that was the last place they were seen.

He memorized these coordinates one by one.

Nearby, Old Steve was quietly asking Dr. Banner.

"What rank of soldier is Steve in this world?"

Banner thought for a moment, "I think he's a lieutenant."

Old Steve straightened his back instantly. "I'm a captain."

"But you're so old now, and still just a captain?" Banner mumbled.

Old Steve's face darkened. "That's because I retired early."

At the main seat, Fury kept receiving reports about participants fighting in the city.

He looked at Charlie and Old Steve, "Since this is a partnership, I need you to stop them. My people aren't capable of doing so."

"They can't be caught."

Before Old Steve could agree, Charlie spoke first.

"They're also afraid of being discovered by other participants. Their fights won't last more than three minutes, and by the time we get there, they'll already be gone."

"So we just let them keep causing chaos?" Natasha frowned.

Charlie glanced at her, "You all should be preparing for the Chitauri invasion. The other participants are eagerly awaiting their arrival."

Once the Chitauri arrived on Earth, participants would have a much bigger opportunity to secure a resurrection spot.

They wouldn't miss this chance.

Hearing this, Fury gave Charlie a deep look, then got up and headed to the command room to plan.

After Fury left, Natasha followed him out.

Seeing this, Old Steve looked confused.

"Spider-kid, what are you planning? Are we really going to let Loki open a space portal?"

"Baldy said this world doesn't have the Space Stone, so there's no way to predict what happens next," Charlie shrugged.

After speaking, he fired webs in the conference room, creating a hammock made of spider silk, intending to rest.

"Spider-kid, I'd love an eco-friendly, non-polluting spider silk hammock too," Old Steve said enviously.

Charlie took off his web-shooter and threw it to him.

"Do it yourself."

"Thanks, you know, old folks can't stay up late like this. I miss my younger days when I could keep going all day," Old Steve said, fiddling with the web-shooter.

"Pew!"

White spider silk shot out, and Old Steve's face lit up like a child's.

"This is awesome."

"It doesn't have to be that awesome."

Banner reached out to pull the webbing off his face, feeling disgruntled but not daring to say anything.

"Uh, I'm still here, you know."

"Sorry, I didn't see you there, please don't get angry." Old Steve quickly apologized.

He knew all too well how terrifying Dr. Banner could be when enraged.

Banner waved it off, though his heart sighed.

Sure enough, no one treated him as normally as Tony did.

Being treated like a regular person was all he truly wanted.
