Chapter 10: Chapter 10
Siberia—its frozen wastelands were already under siege by blizzards. Even inside the Batwing, the chill felt like razor blades cutting through the air.
"Engage hover mode… Ejection seats armed."
The rapid descent didn't sit well with Nolin.
He hadn't undergone any landing training.
Bruce had briefly explained the procedure mid-flight, but Nolin was still nervous.
Luckily, he didn't have to worry about crashing into pieces, thanks to the molecular phasing ability he gained from Kitty Pryde.
As the parachute deployed, Nolin made a rough but safe landing.
It wasn't graceful, but he survived.
After trekking through the icy terrain, the two arrived at the mercenaries' secret base on the outskirts.
"So, what's next?" Bruce asked, scanning the fortified base.
"Are we storming in to rescue your so-called supergirl?"
Bruce glanced at Nolin.
"Your infrared vision and vibration sensors might help us avoid patrols, but there's no clear entry point."
Bruce gestured to the guards' weapons.
"Unless you've got bulletproof skin, you'll need armor. They aren't carrying toy guns."
Nolin smirked.
"No need. Just stay close, don't resist, and hold your breath."
Before Bruce could object, Nolin grabbed his wrist and shoved him against the wall.
"What the hell are you—"
Bruce's words died out as he saw Nolin's body phase through the wall like he was diving into water.
Realizing what was happening, Bruce quickly shut his mouth and held his breath.
A surreal sensation washed over him.
As they passed through the solid wall, Bruce felt like his body merged with the wall's molecular structure.
It was strange yet exhilarating—almost like swimming through liquid stone.
Once inside, Nolin released his grip.
"This is molecular phasing, a form of matter mimicry. It lets me pass through solid objects."
Bruce's eyes flickered with curiosity as he analyzed the ability.
"So, your molecules align with the material you're passing through?"
"What if the material is made of pure atoms or non-matter structures? Can you still phase through it?"
Nolin ignored the question, focusing on the mission.
Guided by blueprints Bruce hacked earlier, they avoided patrols with ease.
Bruce witnessed Nolin's ability firsthand.
It was incredible—walls, floors, ceilings… nothing could stop him.
But Bruce, ever the detective, maintained a stoic face.
Finally, they reached the containment chamber where Supergirl—Kara Zor-El—was imprisoned.
Bruce pulled out a hacking device, preparing to bypass the lock.
The structure seemed to be made of alien metal—possibly Kryptonian.
But Nolin didn't hesitate.
Ignoring the barriers, he phased through the wall and emerged inside.
Bruce blinked in disbelief.
He had doubted Nolin's phasing ability could handle unknown materials.
Apparently, he was wrong.
Inside the chamber, Kara was weak and fragile, wearing thin clothing that barely offered protection from the cold.
Bruce frowned.
"This is your supergirl? She looks like she'd lose a fight with ten-year-olds."
Nolin grinned.
"Just wait until we get her outside."
Without hesitation, Nolin bent down, scooped Kara into his arms, and…
kissed her.
A deep kiss.
Bruce's eyes widened.
"…"
Was he wasting time helping Nolin chase girls?
Kara remained unconscious, unaware her first kiss had been stolen.
Nolin licked his lips, savoring the moment.
Bruce's disapproving silence filled the room.
"Relax. I'll explain later."
Nolin didn't waste time clarifying.
He was desperate to get Kara outside—to the sunlight.
The clock was ticking.
Zod's arrival loomed closer.
Nolin needed to boost his strength—fast.
Their exit was as smooth as their entry.
Molecular phasing made them invisible, bypassing guards and security measures without raising alarms.
Once outside, Nolin felt the sunlight hit his skin.
His body absorbed the energy like a desert soaking up rain.
Cells throughout his body exploded with power—doubling, tripling, quadrupling in strength.
His muscles felt like titanium cables, ready to snap boulders in half.
"This is Kryptonian power!" Nolin thought, exhilarated.
Before he could fully revel in the sensation, Kara stirred awake in his arms.
She opened her eyes and locked gazes with him.
For a moment, Kara froze.
Her heart skipped a beat.
"Who is this gorgeous man?"
She felt an inexplicable connection—like destiny had brought them together.
But Kara quickly snapped out of it, forcing herself to focus.
She tried to push away from Nolin's grip—only to find his arms were unbelievably strong.
Realizing her struggle, Nolin gently released her.
Kara's eyes narrowed.
"Who… who are you?"
Nolin smiled, his confidence radiating warmth.
"You can call me Nolin. And you must be Kara Zor-El."
Kara's heart raced.
That smile—it was like the sunrise, washing away her fears.
And just like that…
Supergirl was enchanted.
