Marvel: Starting As Hokage

Chapter 16: Chapter 16 - Myths and legends (3/4)

Dr. Banner had to slowly come to terms with the Hulk before he became one of the most important combat forces in the Avengers.

In this process, he transformed into the Hulk many times, and it was not uncommon for the Hulk to go out of control.

Especially in the beginning, when Dr. Banner turned into the Hulk, he completely lost his mind and caused destruction, killing innocent people in the process.

But did this prevent him from becoming an Avenger?

Not at all.

Then there's Tony Stark, better known as Iron Man.

When Tony Stark created Mark 2, he discovered that terrorists in the Middle East were using weapons he had designed and manufactured to harm civilians. Without hesitation, he flew directly to the Middle East to eliminate all of those terrorists.

Legally speaking, did Tony Stark have the right to kill like this?

Even though terrorists are evil and deserved to be stopped, under the law, Tony Stark had no authority to act as judge, jury, and executioner.

But what happened in the end?

Tony Stark became Iron Man, a hero admired by millions and celebrated worldwide.

Given these precedents, it's clear that exceptional individuals like Ethan don't need to fabricate lies to justify their actions.

Thus, when Ethan spoke, his words carried an air of credibility.

But what did he mean by saying, "The current situation of S.H.I.E.L.D. doesn't seem very optimistic"?

Nick Fury frowned as he pondered.

From his perspective, S.H.I.E.L.D. was thriving. Superheroes were emerging across the globe, and it seemed like the organization was entering its golden age.

So why would Konoha's intelligence system conclude that "S.H.I.E.L.D.'s situation isn't optimistic"?

Nick Fury couldn't understand, but his instincts told him there might be truth to Ethan's words. This was critical, not just for him personally, but for the survival of S.H.I.E.L.D. as a whole.

As director of S.H.I.E.L.D., Nick Fury was accustomed to thinking more deeply than others.

However, the rest of the room wasn't concerned with such complexities. All eyes were locked on Ethan, eager to hear what he would say next.

After all, understanding why such a powerful individual had come to New York was of utmost importance.

Even Nick Fury set aside his thoughts to focus on Ethan's words.

Ethan smiled faintly and said, "Let me tell you a story."

"A long time ago, the world was home to a sacred tree that supported the heavens. One day, this sacred tree bore fruit. The caretaker of the tree consumed the fruit and became the only god, the living incarnation of the sacred tree. This deity was known as the Rabbit Goddess."

"Although the Rabbit Goddess achieved godhood, she still cared for mortals. She even bore two children with an emperor."

"But as time went on, the power of divinity corrupted her. The Rabbit Goddess became increasingly indifferent and eventually transformed into a cruel and merciless evil god."

"At that time, her two children had grown into formidable warriors, possessing powers that rivaled their mother's."

"To protect the people and the world, they fought the Rabbit Goddess and eventually succeeded in sealing her on the moon."

"The eldest son, due to his remarkable achievements, came to be known as the 'Sage of Six Paths.'"

"But the story doesn't end there. During the battle, the sacred tree itself transformed into a monstrous beast with ten tails to protect its creator."

"This Ten-Tails Beast was unimaginably powerful, and only the Sage of Six Paths could stop it."

"To ensure the beast wouldn't threaten the world again, the Sage divided its power into nine parts, creating the nine Tailed Beasts. He hoped these beings would help humanity rather than harm it."

"However, things didn't go as planned. Human greed and cruelty led to the Tailed Beasts being hunted, enslaved, and mistreated. Over time, their resentment grew, and they became fierce and destructive."

"Before his death, the Sage of Six Paths sealed the Tailed Beasts across the world, hoping to maintain peace."

Ethan paused, giving the room a moment to process the story.

He had deliberately adapted the historical events of the Naruto universe to fit the Marvel world, aiming to build credibility and contextualize his mission.

Once the initial shock wore off, Ethan continued, "Originally, all nine seals remained intact. But recently, the seal in New York has started to weaken."

"The strength of the Sage of Six Paths is far beyond what mortals like me can comprehend. His seals shouldn't weaken even after thousands of years. Therefore, we suspect that someone is deliberately trying to break the seal to release the Tailed Beast."

"That's why my village sent me—the most capable individual—to investigate the situation."

"Now, do you, and the S.H.I.E.L.D. organization you represent, understand why I've come to New York?"

Ethan's piercing gaze locked onto Natasha's eyes, as though he wasn't just looking at her but at the entire organization she represented.

Nick Fury, observing from his hidden location, found himself captivated by Ethan's serious demeanor. His own expression turned grim as he processed the gravity of the situation.
