Chapter 16: Fighting the Witch
Michael and Mia quickly stepped aside, giving the four masters—Tina, Daniel, Kaecilius, and Wong—room to engage the witch. The battle shifted into high gear as the masters seamlessly coordinated their attacks.
Master Tina, with her swift and graceful movements, conjured barriers of light to deflect the witch's dark energy blasts, while Daniel Drumm used his magical expertise to create powerful shields around the group. Wong, simply controlled the flow of the battlefield, offering support with precision strikes and defensive spells.
Kaecilius, with his unique blend of dark and mystic magic, was the most aggressive, launching powerful tendrils of dark energy toward the witch, forcing her to constantly shift and dodge. Her power was immense, but she was clearly being overwhelmed by the combined might of the masters.
As the witch retaliated with another blast from the Dark Scepter, Michael stepped back into the shadows, watching intently. Mia stood beside him, her eyes focused on the battle.
"Should we intervene?" she asked, her voice calm but filled with uncertainty.
Michael shook his head. "Not yet. Let them handle it. We've got to learn from this."
"don't act col, I know you want to fight too" Mia rolled her eyes at his serious response as he sighed "I want to but that serious guy won't let us intervene" he said gesturing at Kaecilius as Mia nodded.
The witch snarled in frustration, her eyes narrowing as she prepared another attack. The four masters, working together with impressive coordination, closed in on her, ready to end the battle once and for all.
The witch, realizing she was being cornered, raised the Dark Scepter high above her head, summoning a swirling vortex of shadow and energy. A menacing aura enveloped her as the air grew cold and thick with dark magic.
Kaecilius smirked, knowing she was desperate. "She's pulling out all the stops now," he muttered, his voice laced with anticipation.
Master Tina stepped forward, her staff glowing with a bright, ethereal light. "We can't let her get any stronger," she said, her tone commanding. "Everyone, now!"
With synchronized precision, the four masters launched their final attack. Wong's hands moved in quick, fluid motions as he summoned a large protective shield around the group, while Daniel Drumm raised his hands, manipulating the mystical energy around him into a concentrated beam of light. The energy shot forward, piercing the witch's dark barrier.
At the same moment, Kaecilius extended his arms, his palms facing the witch. A wave of dark energy surged from him, amplified by the power of the Mirror Dimension. He created a massive surge of destructive force aimed directly at her.
The witch, now fully consumed by dark energy, barely had time to react as Kaecilius's attack hit her head-on, destabilizing her energy. She screamed in pain as the power of the Dark Scepter began to crack under the weight of the combined assault.
"Now!" Kaecilius commanded.
Tina seized the opportunity, channeling her own energy into the air as a torrent of light surged around her. The witch's dark power was overwhelmed, and with one final push, Daniel and Wong combined their magic, sending a concentrated blast of force directly into the witch, knocking her backward.
The Dark Scepter flew from her hands, crashing to the ground. The witch stumbled, weakened, as she fell to her knees.
The four masters stood ready, poised to finish the battle, but the witch raised her hands in surrender. Her breathing was heavy, and she looked exhausted.
"I… yield…" she gasped, her voice strained. "You… you have no idea what you're dealing with. The Dark Scepter... it's just the beginning."
Kaecilius approached her, his expression unyielding. "That may be, but for now, you're a threat no more."
As he approached, Wong stepped forward, ready to bind her in magical restraints. Mia and Michael stood silently, watching the culmination of the battle unfold.
"Is it over?" Mia asked, her voice soft, almost to herself.
"Yeah," Michael nodded as he went to pick up the staff that had been knocked towards them. Just as he picked it up, the black staff with a bronze design all over it, resembling a long pole with a big coin on top embedded on it, glowed briefly, and he felt a connection to it.
As the glow subsided, he saw Mia and the other four masters looking at him. "Congrats," Wong laughed, and Tina and Daniel also smiled, while Kaecilius just nodded towards him.
"Why congrats?" he asked, puzzled.
"Well, mystical items only choose a master as their true master," Wong explained.
"So, I'm a master now?" Michael asked, and Wong nodded.
"Congratulations, you've become a master in just five months. You've set a record here," Master Tina said as he nodded and thanked them.
"Let's go back," Kaecilius said, and they returned to Kamar-Taj with the witch bound.
"Welcome back," the Ancient One greeted them as they arrived. They all bowed toward her, and she nodded.
"It seems this trip was more than just an experience for you, Mr. White... no, Master White," she said, and Michael nodded.
"Yes, it was a great trip," he said, and she nodded again.
"For now, you are free, as there is no need for you anywhere. But if someone wishes to retire, I will inform you, and you will take their place," she said, and Michael nodded.
"Now, go on," she said, taking the witch with her as they dispersed. Mia looked at Michael briefly, and as she turned away, Michael chuckled.
"Maybe I should have picked that Scepter," she said softly, and Michael gave her a knowing look.
"Maybe just go and try the Mystic Item storage, you might be ready too," he suggested.
Mia shook her head. "No, I'm not as strong as you, who can fight Master Kaecilius easily. I get easily defeated by him. I'm clearly NOT ready," she replied, her voice tinged with uncertainty.
Michael nodded understandingly. "I get it. You'll know when you're ready. No rush," he reassured her with a gentle smile.
