Marvel: Umbrella Corporation

Chapter 97: The Emergence of Space-Based Weapons

As the sentry robots were destroyed, alarms immediately blared throughout Umbrella's headquarters.

One by one, more sentry robots emerged from the Umbrella Tower, quickly mobilizing.

"Under attack by mutants!"

"Engage counterattack mode!"

The sentry robots extended their gun barrels, unleashing a barrage of bullets.

*Rat-a-tat-tat...*

However, the bullets were swiftly intercepted by Erik's magnetic control and redirected back toward the sentry robots.

Though the first-generation sentry robots stood three meters tall and were heavily armored, they were utterly powerless against Erik's abilities.

Within minutes, over a dozen sentry robots were reduced to scrap metal.

At that moment, Emil appeared, yawning and visibly annoyed, stepping out of Umbrella's building.

"Who dares disturb my rest? Erik? What madness has overtaken you so early in the morning?"

Surveying the scene, Emil scowled, his irritation evident.

But he knew he was no match for Erik and refrained from acting rashly.

Erik's expression was cold as he stared at Emil, his voice laced with ice. "Where is Raven? Where have you taken her?"

Metal objects from the surroundings floated into the air, pointing menacingly at Emil, signaling that Erik was ready to attack if unsatisfied with the response.

Emil's face darkened as his body began to swell. Within moments, he transformed into the monstrous Abomination, towering at three meters.

"Either leave on your own, or I'll make you leave!"

At Emil's threat, Erik raised his hand, preparing to launch his assault.

Before he could act, a bullet shot out from within the Umbrella Tower.

*BANG!*

Moving too fast to react, the bullet pierced Erik's side, leaving a massive wound.

A moment later, Erik's mind caught up with the pain, disbelief washing over his face as he looked at his injured waist.

"Argh!"

Hearing her father's agonized scream, Lorna descended from above in a panic.

"Father!"

Seeing her father's state, she cried out in despair, hastily manipulating nearby metal to create a protective barrier around them.

Erik, gritting his teeth against the pain, gripped Lorna's hand.

"Be... careful... Vibranium bullets..."

Lorna's eyes welled with tears at his words.

"Father, you'll be fine. I'll take you back for proper treatment. S.H.I.E.L.D. will have a way to heal you."

Meanwhile, on the 30th floor of the Umbrella Tower, William ejected the spent casing from his sniper rifle and loaded another precious Vibranium bullet.

"I missed," he muttered with regret.

Psylocke, standing nearby, teased with a sultry smile, "Captain, are you losing your touch?"

William shot her a sidelong glance and retorted, "I'll show you tonight whether I've lost my touch or not!"

Without waiting for a reply, he resumed aiming, but by now, Lorna had already erected a steel barrier, blocking his line of sight.

"Red Queen, request authorization to deploy the space-based weapon!"

"Beep... Authorization granted. William, Level-2 access. Request approved."

As the Red Queen's mechanical voice echoed, an Umbrella satellite in low Earth orbit initiated its systems.

Unlike traditional satellites, this one lacked solar panels. Its cubic form featured a dome-like structure, powered by an Arc Reactor, eliminating the need for external energy sources.

The dome opened, revealing an Adamantium-made rod within.

As energy accumulated, the rod glowed red-hot, reaching temperatures of over a thousand degrees. Moments later, a laser beam shot toward the Earth.

In just 1.3 seconds, the laser struck the metal outside Umbrella Tower.

Within moments, the intense heat melted the metal, dissipating the magnetic field.

"No!"

The sudden turn of events left Erik and Lorna momentarily stunned.

As the laser continued to sear toward them, a figure suddenly appeared.

"Absorb!"

In an instant, all the surrounding light was drawn into this individual's body.

It was Marcus, who possessed the ability to absorb sunlight. He could draw in light energy and convert it.

Facing the satellite's laser attack, Marcus absorbed the energy into his body. His form glowed intensely, the surplus energy threatening to overwhelm his limits.

A second later, unable to hold the energy, he released it skyward in a dazzling burst of light.

"Ahhh..."

Moments later, the laser attack ceased, leaving Marcus exhausted and kneeling on the ground.

Seeing her boyfriend, Lorna quickly extended her hand, manipulating metal to bring him closer.

"I told you not to come..." Marcus said with a tired smile.

"I was worried about you," Lorna replied, her heart filled with emotion as she gazed at him tenderly.

Their moment of affection was interrupted by Erik's deliberate cough.

"Cough... cough..."

Even blood trickled from Erik's mouth, cutting their tender exchange short.

"Father, are you okay?"

Shaking his head, Erik turned his gaze toward the Umbrella Tower, where a black-armored combat unit and a fresh wave of sentry robots appeared.

Armed with electromagnetic rifles and shields, they eyed the mutants like predators circling prey.

At this tense moment, Nick Fury finally arrived with reinforcements.

Alongside him were Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, Natasha Romanoff, Clint Barton, S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, and several mutants.

"Erik, we're here," Nick announced.

The tense standoff brought a brief silence as neither side made the first move.

Inside the Umbrella Tower, Erica turned to Felia beside her.

"Miss Felia, what should we do?"

Felia rolled her eyes. "Why ask me? Go ask the boss. I'm just a scientist; I don't deal with this kind of violence."

With that, she left, taking the controlled Raven with her.

Erica sighed and picked up her communicator to contact the boss.

"Who is this?"

"Boss, it's me, Erica."

"What is it?"

Erica quickly summarized the events in the U.S., but the boss's dismissive response left her stunned.

"This is a minor issue. Handle it yourself."

Hearing the call end abruptly, Erica stood frozen.

Minor issue? she thought, bewildered.

And what was that faint moaning sound in the background? It didn't sound like Luna. Could the boss have someone new?

She shook her head to dismiss the thought. Whatever the boss's personal affairs, they were none of her concern.

Turning her attention back to the matter at hand, she saw that Nick Fury's team was slowly retreating, while William's impatience was evident.

In one swift move, Erica leaped from the 30th floor to the ground.

"William, stand down."
