The Void

It felt like nothingness. Absolute and endless. Darkness stretched in every direction, pressing down on him. A soft hum echoed, but there was no source.

The man—a simple college student—felt his heart race. Or was it his heart? Did he even have a body? He couldn't tell. Everything was wrong. He tried to move, to scream, but nothing happened.

"What... where am I?" he thought, fear gripping him.

Suddenly, the darkness around him seemed to ripple. A warm, golden light pierced through the void, spreading a calming glow. The fear that had consumed him began to ebb, replaced by curiosity and awe.

The light coalesced into a figure. A tall, benevolent being stood before him. Clad in a radiant robe, the figure's features were indistinct, yet comforting.

"Do not be afraid," the being said, its voice smooth and soothing. "You are in the space between worlds."

The man's panic flared again. "Who—what are you? Am I dead? What's happening to me?"

The figure chuckled softly, shaking its head. "You are not dead, young soul. You are... chosen. I am what you might call a god. And I am here to offer you an opportunity."

The Conversation

The man furrowed his brow. "Opportunity? Why me? I'm just a regular guy. A college student. Nothing special."

The god smiled. "Exactly. You are untainted by ambition, greed, or malice. You lived simply, quietly, and treated others with kindness. It is your humility and simplicity that make you ideal for what I am about to grant."

The man blinked. "Grant me? Wait, what are you talking about?"

The god waved a hand, and images began to swirl in the void. Cities, people with strange abilities, battles, and a world like he'd only known as Anime.

"This is the world of My Hero Academia. A place where individuals are born with powers called quirks. Some use their gifts to protect others, while some exploit them for their own gain. It is a world of chaos and opportunity."

The man stared at the images, entranced. "You're saying... you want me to go there? Why? What would I even do?"

The god nodded. "Yes. And as for why, let's just say that this world needs someone like you. Someone with balance. A new force of nature."

The man frowned. "I don't think I'm a hero type..."

"You don't have to be," the god said with a knowing smile. "You can do as you wish. Be a hero, live quietly, or forge your own path. But before you go, I will grant you powers to help you thrive in this new world."

The man hesitated. "Powers? Like a quirk?"

"Yes," the god said. "Your primary gift will be an adaptable body. No matter the situation, your body will adjust, ensuring your survival and growth. Additionally, you will gain the ability to copy any quirk permanently just by observing it in action. No one will be able to detect your abilities or take them from you. They are yours alone."

The man's jaw dropped. "That... that sounds insane. You're telling me I could take any power and keep it? Forever?"

The god nodded. "Indeed. But remember, power comes with responsibility. Use it wisely, or it may consume you."

The man thought for a moment. "And no one can steal my powers or erase them?"

"Correct," the god affirmed.

A sense of excitement welled up in the man. "Okay. Let's say I agree. What's the catch?"

The god shook its head. "No catch. Just your promise to embrace this new life and live it fully. Now, make your wish, and I will send you on your way."

The man took a deep breath. "Alright. My wish is simple: I want the power you described—an adaptable body and the ability to copy quirks permanently, with no one being able to steal or erase them. And... I want to be free to live my life as I choose."

The god smiled. "Your wish is granted. Good luck."

Before the man could respond, the void swallowed him once more.

The Beginning

The first thing he noticed was the blinding white light. It pierced his eyelids, making him flinch. He tried to move, but his body felt small and weak.

Voices echoed around him—muffled, unfamiliar, and distant. He could feel something warm and soft cradling him.

"What's going on?" he thought, his mind racing. "Where am I?"

As his senses slowly adjusted, he realized he wasn't breathing on his own. His lungs felt small, his limbs too short to move freely. Panic bubbled within him until he heard a gentle, soothing voice.

"Congratulations, ma'am. It's a healthy baby boy."

Baby?

His heart skipped a beat as he slowly opened his eyes. A kind-looking nurse hovered above him, smiling warmly. To her left, a woman with tear-streaked cheeks reached out.

"My son..." she whispered, her voice trembling with emotion.

It hit him like a train. He was a baby. A newborn. He'd been reborn into this world.

The god's words echoed in his mind: "A new life in a new world."

As he lay in the woman's arms, the reality of his situation began to sink in. He wasn't dreaming. This was real.

And it was only the beginning.
