Chapter 92: Christmas with the Midoriya's + all might? 2
Part 2
It was a chilly afternoon in Musutafu, and the streets were blanketed with a light dusting of snow, turning the city into a beautiful winter wonderland. Izuku Midoriya, better known as Deku, was leaving his friend Bakugo's house, his mind abuzz with the day's unexpected revelations. He had stumbled upon a sight that made his heart race — his mother, Inko Midoriya, sharing a tender moment with All Might, their lips nearly touching underneath a mistletoe hung in the doorway. It had left him with a whirlwind of emotions: confusion, surprise, and oddly, a bit of happiness.
As he headed home, the snow crunched under his sneakers, and he glanced up at the sky, pondering what the encounter meant. That image of All Might, the Symbol of Peace, intimately close to his mom, was perplexing. Did he have a new role model, or was he witnessing a blossoming romance that he'd never imagined?
When Deku finally reached the front door of the Midoriya household, he hesitated for a moment. Should he confront them? Would it be awkward? With a deep breath, he opened the door and stepped inside. The warmth of the house enveloped him, contrasting sharply with the chill outside.
"Mom? All Might?" he called out, his voice slightly echoing in the cozy space.
He entered the living room and was met with a delightful sight that made his heart swell. Inko and All Might were huddled at the kitchen table, laughter dancing between them as they constructed gingerbread houses. Icing and candy scattered across the table, showcasing their artistic skills, or lack thereof, as the half-assembled houses leaned precariously.
"There's my little hero!" Inko beamed, her cheeks rosy with joy. "Come join us! We're making gingerbread houses!"
Deku couldn't help but smile at their cheerful atmosphere. "That sounds great! But um, can we talk for a second?"
All Might stopped applying a candy cane roof to his gingerbread house and looked up, his blue eyes sparkling with warmth. "Of course, Midoriya! What's on your mind?"
Deku swallowed hard, the earlier scene flashing through his mind. "I, um… well, I saw you two earlier…" he started, his voice trailing off. He could feel a blush creeping up his cheeks. "Under the mistletoe, I mean."
Inko's eyes widened slightly, and she exchanged a glance with All Might. There was a moment of silence before Inko chuckled gingerly, her hands fiddling with a piece of gumdrop. "Well, you see, Izuku…"
All Might interjected, a hint of embarrassment gracing his features. "It's true, young Midoriya. Inko and I have developed quite a friendship over the past months. We've been spending more time together, and yes, that was a little something special."
Deku's heart raced at the weight of this revelation. The idea that All Might — his lifelong hero — and his mother could be more than friends was almost surreal. "Is this… is this a thing now?" he asked carefully, trying to gauge their feelings in the warm ambiance.
"Honestly, we're just enjoying each other's company," Inko replied, her voice soft and sincere. "We share a lot of laughter and understanding, especially after everything that's happened. But we're taking it slow."
All Might nodded vigorously. "Inko is an extraordinary person. She's brave and kind, and supporting the next generation is something I'll always cherish. So yes, we're exploring our feelings, but there's no rush."
Deku felt a weight lift off his shoulders as he processed their words. He had worried about how it would feel, but seeing this side of his mother and the man he admired lit a strange sense of joy within him. "I guess I'm happy for you both." His voice became a bit more resolute as he added, "You both deserve to be happy."
Inko smiled brightly, her eyes sparkling with affection for her son. "Thank you, Izuku. That means the world to us."
As All Might resumed building his gingerbread house, he grinned at Deku. "How about you join us, young Midoriya? After all, what's a holiday without some sweet treats and family time?"
Deku couldn't help but laugh as he sat at the table, momentarily forgetting the world outside. The light in the room felt like the glow of possibilities and warmth, and for the first time in a while, everything felt right.
As they crafted gingerbread houses, exchanged stories, and shared laughter, Deku realized that it wasn't just about his mom and All Might. Life was complicated, filled with unexpected turns, but it was also filled with love and joy, and that was enough to make the holiday season feel truly special.
