Shiro sat on the edge of his seat, his hands clasped tightly in anticipation. His mind buzzed with possibilities, each one racing through his head as he stared at the blue screen.
'This is it,' he thought, his breath shallow. 'This spin could change everything. It has to be something good—something powerful.'
The spinning text came to an abrupt halt, and the screen displayed the results. Shiro's heart stopped as his eyes scanned the glowing words.
[Attack On Titan: Reiner Braun: Armoured Titan Unlocked!]
His hands dropped apart, one instinctively covering his mouth. He stared at the screen, speechless.
'Armoured Titan...' The words repeated in his head, and he felt his thoughts scatter like leaves in a storm. 'This... this is my ticket through the UA entrance exams. With this power, I'll be unstoppable. I have to test it out.'
Kiyoka, driving the car, noticed the sudden silence from her son. Glancing in the rearview mirror, she saw his wide-eyed expression. A soft chuckle escaped her lips.
'He must be really excited for school,' she mused, a fond smile forming on her face. 'He's probably thinking about all the new friends he'll make.'
Before long, they pulled up to the elementary school. Kiyoka parked the car, stepping out with a bright smile.
"Shiro, we're here, dear!" she said cheerfully, her voice cutting through the morning air.
But Shiro remained seated, lost in his thoughts. He was analyzing every scenario he could think of, comparing the Armoured Titan's capabilities to the challenges he knew awaited him in this world.
'In this form, I could probably handle a few Nomu. But the later ones, like the one All Might fought... they'd still have me beat. Their agility, their intelligence—it's too much. I need to get even stronger if I want to save lives—'
A gentle tap on his shoulder broke his train of thought.
"Dear? You're not responding to me," Kiyoka said, her brows knitting together in concern. "Are you nervous?"
Snapping out of his daydream, Shiro shook his head quickly. "No, Mom. I'm just thinking about all the fun I'm going to have," he lied smoothly, offering her a reassuring smile.
Her concern melted away, replaced by a warm, understanding nod.
As they retrieved his school bag, Shiro pulled out a folded paper, scanning it to find his class assignment. "Looks like I'm in class 2-C, and my homeroom teacher is a lady called Ms. Fuyuki."
"Then I'll be on my way, dear," Kiyoka said. "I'll come to pick you up later this afternoon—"
"I'm probably going to stay back to play some basketball, Mom," Shiro interrupted casually. "I'll walk home. Don't worry."
Kiyoka hesitated for a moment before nodding. "I guess that's fine, too. Our house is only a ten-minute walk away." She leaned down to kiss him on the cheek, then climbed back into the car, waving as she drove off.
As her car disappeared down the street, Shiro's expression shifted into one of determination.
'Good. Now everything's set up. I'll test out the Armoured Titan after school,' he thought, gripping the straps of his bag as he turned toward the school grounds.
The building was bustling with activity, children and teachers moving in all directions. Following the signs, Shiro navigated his way to his classroom. It didn't take long before he arrived at a door labeled 2-C.
The door was already open, and he could hear the chatter of students inside. Just as he stepped forward, the system's notification chimed.
[Make a memorable entrance. Reward: 20 XP.]
Shiro tilted his head back with a groan, staring at the ceiling. "It's just kids. I don't really care about their opinion of me, but I'm not one to make a fool of myself.." he muttered. Still, the thought of extra XP was tempting.
'Maybe I'll roll into the classroom or something. That should be enough to complete the quest,' he thought.
But before he could make his move, a sudden force slammed into his back, sending him flying headfirst into the teacher's desk at the front of the room.
"Oops! I'm really sorry!" a girl's voice cried out behind him.
Dazed, Shiro groaned, his head spinning from the impact. The world around him blurred as he tried to steady himself, clutching his throbbing forehead.
"Argh..." he muttered, getting to one knee as he attempted to regain his bearings.
"Watch where you're going, will you?" he snapped, turning slowly to face the culprit.
Standing there was a girl with short, chestnut hair and a worried expression.
"I'm really! Really! Sorry!" she yelled, thrusting out her hand to help him up.
As Shiro reached for her hand, he caught a proper look at her face. His eyes widened slightly.
"Uraraka..." he murmured, the name slipping from his lips in disbelief.
It was the first time he had encountered someone from the My Hero Academia manga since arriving in this world.
"Uh... what?" the girl replied, tilting her head in confusion as she waited for him to take her hand.
"Nothing," Shiro said quickly, grasping her hand and pulling himself to his feet.
The moment he was upright, the girl grabbed his shoulders, her expression earnest. "I'm really sorry! I didn't mean to—"
Shiro cut her off with a small wave of his hand. "Don't worry about it," he said, gently moving her hands away.
He made his way to an empty seat near the window, choosing a spot one row in front of the back. Meanwhile, Uraraka realized her hands had lingered on his shoulders longer than necessary. Her cheeks turned a bright shade of pink, and she quickly scurried to a random seat at the back of the room.
[Mission Complete. Reward: 10 XP.]
The system's voice echoed in Shiro's mind as he settled into his seat. 'I'd completely forgotten about that mission...' he thought, shaking his head.
A sudden burst of laughter broke the momentary silence.
"He really face-planted into the desk!" a boy's voice called out, laughing hysterically. "What an idiot!"
The comment sparked a wave of chuckles from other students. Turning his head, Shiro spotted the source of the commotion—a boy with jet-black spiky hair and a cocky smirk. His uniform was slightly undone, the top two buttons of his shirt left open.
'He looks somewhat like Bakugo...' Shiro mused, narrowing his eyes. 'I guess the loudmouthed bully type exists everywhere. Still, there's something oddly nostalgic about it.'
Before Shiro could dwell further, another system notification popped up.
[New Quest!]
"Another?" he muttered under his breath, his brow furrowing.
[Beat up the bully. Reward: 20 XP.]
Shiro's lips curled into a grin as he glanced at the boy. '20 XP? Not bad,' he thought, sizing up his potential target. But after a moment, he shook his head. 'No. It wouldn't be right to beat up a kid years younger than me. That would be way over the line.'
His thoughts were interrupted by a pencil bouncing off his forehead.
"What are you staring at?" the black-haired boy sneered, his smirk widening. "I'm Kuro. You better watch out!"
A vein throbbed in Shiro's forehead as he clenched his fists. 'This brat...'
"Morning, class!" a woman's voice called out, drawing everyone's attention.
A tall woman entered the room, her blonde hair tied in a neat bun. She wore a crisp white blouse tucked into a pencil skirt, her heels clicking softly against the floor. Her warm smile filled the room with an air of authority and calm.
'Finally,' Shiro thought, redirecting his attention to the front of the class. 'Just in time. Another minute of that brat, and I might've taken the quest after all.'
