MHA: The Fresh Blood [Rewrite]

Chapter 13: Beowolf Massacre

It's been about a month since I started my first quest, I still haven't managed to figure out a good name for the system. But, I have managed to get into a decent routine.

In the morning I make enough food to feed two large villages, so I don't need to worry about cooking for the rest of the day, then in the afternoon I pick around fifteen books to study, and, finally, in the evening I work on training my aura and trying to get used to my semblance. Studying has actually become more bearable after the system told me that it could play the songs from my old world (the thing even has the karaoke versions too). Though, getting used to my semblance has been pretty difficult, because it turns out that getting angry with it is a fuck ton easier than I thought it would be.

Anyways, I would have tried putting in some time trying to make weapons, after getting the system to get more stuff for the training room. But, I prefer to use the last few hours of the day to just try and relax, since all work and no play would make me one dull bitch.

Oh! I did learn something pretty useful from training my aura! Since, Bloody Berserker, doesn't make me stronger or faster, I've needed to think of a way to fight more effectively without forcing Frenzy Mode to activate. So, I decided to one day just say fuck it, and tried to infuse myself with Dust crystals while my semblance was active. This was inspired by Hazel, since me and him have semblances that keep us from feeling pain.

And, let's just say, a fuck ton of the Forever Fall replica needed to be repaired by the system afterward. Though, on the bright side (I think), I learned that my aura actually does jack shit for my defense, and the reason it doesn't really break is because after a few hits it'll focus entirely on just healing me and powering my semblance. Which, is probably also why I can use my Bloody Berserker for so long.

Oh, and Clothing Generation finished adjusting, so that's something. I think I even found a use for it outside just making clothes and jewelry, though I'll have to keep it as a last resort, since it isn't useful for long fights right now.

Other than that stuff, not much has really happened, sure I've increased my aura and strength a bit, but it's hard to tell if that amount will even make a difference in combat. So, I've decided that today, since I took a month to get used to my aura and semblance, it's time that I take on the second stage of the quest. Both to get some more shit from the system, and also to test out some ideas that I got involving Dust.

"Let's see, I already finished making my food, my aura's at max capacity, and I got enough Dust from the training room for some test. Yup, I think that's everything!" I said as I stood outside in the Forever Fall replica.

"System, would you kindly start the next stage, and modify the Grimm like you did last time too?" I had a feeling that if I fought any regular Grimm, I'd kill them too quickly to actually get any results from the tests that I was going to conduct.

[Answer: Understood, Eve. The Grimm have been modified, and the Second Stage will now commence]

As soon as the system told me that I saw a pack of ten Beowolves appear in the distance, all of them almost immediately noticed me and began to charge.

"So, this time it's Beowolves? Oh~ I can already tell this is gonna be fun!" I smiled as I activated Bloody Berserker and ran towards the pack of Grimm.

"System! Play 'Never Enough'!" I yelled out before jumping straight for the first Beowolf with my gauntlet covered hand pulled back, ready to attack.

[NOTICE: Now playing, Never Enough by ENMY]

The Beowolf tried to strike at me first, but I used Hermes' blessing to essentially double jump. It didn't have time to dodge or block me as I slashed my claws at its back, leaving multiple gashes on it.

As it howled in pain I used its back to jump towards the next Beowolf, which, along with the rest of them, backed away as they seemed to already consider me a threat. But, getting distance didn't stop me from attacking them in another way.

"Let's see how you take this!" From my inventory I pulled out a vial of Fire Dust and threw it in front of them before using Siren Song to shoot a focused sonic scream (or sonic whistle if you will) at the vial.

The second my attack made contact with it, a giant explosion erupted from the small vial, instantly killing three of the Grimm closest to the blast, knocking the rest to the ground, and sending me flying in the opposite direction.

As I got up, half my skin was burned by the blast, and the hoodie that I was wearing was set ablaze. Yet, I couldn't help but chuckle as I tore off the flaming piece of clothing, revealing the black tank top I wore underneath.

"Hehehe, looks like the first test was a success! Now, let's see how the next one goes!" I yelled out with a wide smile on my face as my burns healed, and I ran towards the rest of the Beowolves that were just barely getting up.

Noticing that I was charging towards them again, they decided they'd have a better chance at survival by ganging up on me. So, they lunged at me, each aiming to attack me from various angles with their teeth and claws. Even the one that I previously wounded got up specifically to attack me from behind.

My smile only widened as they got closer to me, this was exactly what I wanted.

Right before I made contact with them, I took out two Wind Dust crystals and stabbed them into my legs. The strong burst of air that I was now able to generate from them combined with the blessing from Hermes, this made so fast that the Grimm could barely see what I did next.

I had gotten into a track runners pose and ran straight past the Beowolves that were in front of me. I may have shot the mark a bit, as I was running straight for a tree, but I quickly changed directions by raising my feet and running on the air itself. Using this I began to run around the Beowolves, slowly getting closer to them with each lap, and being extra careful not to run into any trees.

As soon as I was close enough I started to use my clawed gauntlets to cut up their legs and lower backs. With how fast I was going they were practically standing still, so it was pretty easy to do this, and I barely felt any resistance from their bodies.

Then when I was done I kicked off the air and launched myself parallel to the ground. I had to use the claws on my gauntlets and boots to kill the momentum that I had gained, or else I would have taken damage that could've been easily avoided.

"Well... I think that was a success. What do you guys think?" I asked in a fake coy tone towards the Beowolves as I stood up.

The Grimm in question on howled in pain as they each fell to the ground, black blood pouring out from their lower bodies like a fountain. It wasn't enough to kill them, but they sure as hell aren't getting up any time soon.

"Yeah, you're right, my aim still needs some work." I said, treating their sounds of suffering as if it were a genuine answer.

"Anyways, looks like y'all aren't gonna be much help with my next test, so I'll just kill ya all." I then proceeded to stomp on their necks and break them one by one, using the Wind Dust to slam my feet down with a bit more force.

"You know. I wonder if their skulls would look good hung up over my bed." Interior decorating aside, a Grimm corpse could be useful for something, especially since it isn't really supposed to exist, so I decided to put them in my inventory just in case.

In the middle of me storing away the corpses the Dust crystals in my legs shattered, and I felt pretty drained of energy for a bit. One thing I learned from the first time I infused Dust into my body was that Healthy Body metabolizes that shit real quick, so I go through them pretty fast. Also, turns out a side effect of infusing Dust into your body was that it takes a lot of your stamina with each crystal, luckily Bloody Berserker mitigates that to a degree.

As I was putting the last corpse into my inventory, the system decided that now would be a good time to remind me that I was still in the middle of the second stage.

[NOTICE: All Grimm on the field have been defeated. The Boss Battle will now begin]

The next moment another Beowolf appeared just a few meters away from me, though it looked different from the ones I just stored. It seemed to have a slimmer upper body, stronger legs, and the bone-like spikes that protruded from its body seemed overall thinner.

"What type Beowolf are you- Woah!!" I exclaimed as it suddenly appeared in front of me, giving me barely enough time to dodge the strike it aimed at my head.

'The hell?! How is it this fast!?' I asked myself as blood started to pour down my cheek, seems the thing still managed to graze me with its claws.

I didn't have much time to think though, because the Grimm quickly went back on the attack. Punches, slashes, kicks, bites, it threw everything at me at a rate that was difficult to keep up with as I was. Even with Hermes' blessing making me faster, Parkour Expert making me flexible enough to move any way I wanted, and Unarmed Combat helping me block its attacks, it was impossible for me to avoid one attack without another one connecting.

The thing didn't even give me the chance to move away from it, because each time I took one step back it would take two steps forward and land another hit. Hell, I couldn't even use Siren Song's sonic scream to knock him back, because then he'd just punch me in the jaw or neck! If the Elder Boarbatusk from the last stage had the strongest defense, this thing had the strongest overall speed and reaction time. And, that really started to piss me off.

'Dammit! At this rate I'll run out of fucking aura!' I thought as it landed another hit to my jaw, dislocating it and knocking me a few feet back.

As I popped my jaw back into place, I pulled out two more Dust crystals from my inventory, only for the Beowolf to slap them out of my hand before knocking me to the ground. Even without it knowing what I was going to do with them, it seemed smart enough to know that letting me use those would be a bad idea.

'Speedy mutt piece of fucking shit! Just stand still so I can kill you already!!' I couldn't fight it head on, I couldn't get enough breathing room to boost myself with Dust, and I couldn't even push it back with the one quirk I have that can be used for direct combat!

'Fuck this! Fuck thinking about the last test! Fuck all of it! When I'm done with this bitch, not even Salem will be able to recognize it!' Originally I had planned to see how much damage I could do on a heatlhy Grimm with various amounts of aura in Bloody Berserker, but now I just wanted the damn thing to die.

The Beowolf went to stomp on my stomach, but it was immediately sent flying into the air by a giant gust of wind the second its foot made contact.

Now that I got some distance I quickly got up, now wearing a black chestplate that was covered in spikes with a light green glow radiating off of it. This piece of armor was imbued with Wind Dust, something I learned how to do after a lot of experimentation, and getting my ass blown up dozens of times.

Luckily, it seems I have some freedom with the stuff I can make with Clothing Generation, and I'm even luckier that armor technically counts as clothing. But, there was one flaw with stuff that I make with Dust, which I still haven't been able to get around yet.

I pulled out two Fire and Wind Dust crystals from my inventory, while the chestplate began to disintegrate right before my eyes. The material not being able to hold together for long when Dust is added to it.

"Now, let's see how you take the heat, cabrón!" I yelled out before I stabbed the Fire Dust crystals into my shoulders and stabbed the Wind Dust crystals into my legs. After which the Beowolf, who had already landed and recovered by now, rushed me just as quickly as it did before. But, this time I didn't try to dodge its strike, instead I focused solely on attacking it.

It aimed to slash at my face again, but this time its claws only striked the air as I had used the Wind Dust to quickly jump above it. When the Grimm looked up to not lose sight of me it was met with nothing but pain that surged through its face as I used the Fire Dust to launch flames directly into its eyes.

The creature howled out in pain from the surprise attack and began to frantically swipe its claws where it last saw me, only to be repeatedly met with nothing but air. No matter where it striked, no matter how fast it moved, it couldn't find where I had gone after blinding it.

"What? Can't handle a little fire? You worthless mongrel!" I said from behind it before kicking the back of its knee with the Wind Dust still in effect.

It howled out in pain again as it fell to its knee, the Beowolf then tried to swipe at me again, but it was met with nothing again. The Grimm tried to use its sense of smell and hearing to find me, but it didn't matter, its nostrils were filled with the smell of burning flesh and the blood of its kin, and using Hermes' blessing to walk on air kept me from making any sound as I walked around it.

"Oh, shut the fuck up with that howling! You sound like a pig fucking a chainsaw!" I gave its jaw a flaming punch as I said this, a sickening crack coming from it, which was drowned out by more pained filled noises from the Grimm.

Another attempt to attack me was made, but I just went behind it again and kicked at its back with all my strength, sending it flat on the ground. I also heard a crack come from my leg, looks like I broke my own leg with that one. Not being able to feel pain, thanks to Bloody Berserker, meant that the natural limiter's on my strength were just as worthless as the Beowolf's eyes and jaw right now.

The Grimm tried to get up from the ground, but I just stomped on it to knock it back on its stomach. I continued to stomp on its back over and over again, each time another broken pained howl erupted from it.

"I bet you thought I was an easy kill, huh?!" I stomped on its back again. "You got a little speed boost and you think your hot shit!?" I stomped again. "You are nothing but a stepping stone for me, just like the rest of your kind!!"

I kept stomping on its back for what felt like half an hour, until I heard the sound of its spine breaking under my heel, and its howls were barely anything more than a whimper.

With the Beowolf not making as much noise anymore I clicked my tongue and decided to finish it off already, since it was now nothing more than a broken toy. So, without hesitation I used my gauntlets to tear off its head, it being suprisingly easier than I thougt it would.

"Worthless dog. Couldn't even entertain me for long." I said while placing the fresh corpse into my inventory, since I still thought it could be useful for something.

[NOTICE: You have defeated the Swift Elder Beowolf, the Second Stage has now been completed]

"Fuckin finally!" I yelled out as I walked back to my house while deactivating Bloody Berserker, as it was no longer needed for now. I didn't even need to worry about the Dust crystals, because they already shattered a bit ago while I was stomping on the Beowolf.

[Query: Would you like to recieve the rewards for completing the Second Stage?]

"Yeah, sure, whatever. I need to take another damn shower." I went straight to the bathroom as the fight with that boss Beowolf caused me to be covered in a bunch of dirt.

"At least I got some useful stuff after that bullshit. System, I'll accept them later, for now I want some peace and quiet." I said as I went into the bathroom to take the shower that I needed.

After that I spent the rest of the day eating the food I made that morning, and reading some more books in the living room. It wasn't till late in the evening that I finally accepted the skills, and promptly destroyed a wall when the pain made me feel the need to punch something.

I doubt I'll ever get used to this.
