Chapter 17: Hot Springs and Pies
It had been a week since the trip to the Never Zone, days spent by Star looking for her mother with help from Marco, Anne, Marcy, Luz, Amity and her father, King River.
However there was very little luck in the matter, no matter where they searched, Queen Moon was nowhere to be found, any lead resulted in a dead end.
"Ugh, there's gotta be some place in Mewni we haven't checked yet!" Star said, angrily pacing around.
"I don't know Star," Marco said, crossing some locations off a map. "We're running low on options."
"There's gotta be a few places we haven't checked," Anne said, looking over the map, pointing to a group of trees. "Oh, there's some Hot Springs listed here."
"Hot Springs?" Luz asked, looking over the map too. "We should check there...you know, because Queen Moon might be bathing."
"I know you girls want a bath, mainly since we haven't really had a proper bath in like two days," Marco said, then smelled the foul aroma surrounding King River. "Actually, maybe a bath might be nice, especially for a certain King."
"Oh nonsense boy, what I have is pure manly musk," River said. "Nothing quite proves your masculinity like the aroma of nature."
"No offense your majesty, but even when I was stuck in the jungle, both in Amphibia and the Neverzone, I never skimped on a bath," Anne said.
"That's normal for ladies, I'm talking about men like myself and Marco," River said.
"Hey, hygiene is important, because the world is ridden with all types of bacteria," Marco said. "In fact, why don't I give a detailed explanation."
"That's really not necessary, Marco," Amity said, then heard something go off. "What's that?"
"It's Tom," Star answered her make-up phone. "Hey beau."
"Star, how's the search going? "Tom asked.
"Oh, just fine, tons of leads," Star said.
"We're running into dead ends!" Anne called.
"Uh, was that Anne talking about dead ends?" Tom asked.
"Oh no, she said split ends," Star said. "Yeah the girls are overreacting to a teeny bit of hygiene and lack of self-care."
"Excuse me!?" Luz said, slightly offended.
"We are lost! We passed by the same tower like three times!" Anne said.
"Like Tom knows what a tower is," Star said. "He lives in the underworld."
"Star...towers exist here too," Toms said. "Are you sure things are going well? You look and sound kind of stressed."
"Pfft, like you know what stress looks like, you carefree slouch of a boy," Star said.
"Huh? I'm not a slouch," Tom said. "Also I know what stress looks like too."
"Alright, I didn't mean to call you stupid then," Star said.
"You didn't call me stupid," Toms said.
"Not out loud," Star said.
Tom looked confused a moment, then started chuckling to herself. "That's the Star I know. Anyway I did contact Gus and Willow, they're checking The Boiling Isles just in case Moon went there. Sprig offered to check Amphibia."
"If he wants to help, that's cool, let him," Star said.
"Don't give him a pair of those scissors!" Anne called.
"Yeah, what Anne said," Star confirmed. "Miss you Tom, see you later." Star hung up and sat down on a log, groaning to herself, "What a pain."
"It'll be fine Star," Marco said, then felt his own phone vibrating, checking to see that it's Tom. "Yeah man?"
Amity looked over the map again, "Star, there aren't many places left to check. I know you want to find your mom but it's becoming less and less likely she's here. Plus, you can't be away too long, you're still Queen."
"Acting Queen...which is all the more reason for me to find my mom," Star said. "Someone has to lead Mewni."
"And that someone, is you," Amity said. "Star, you need to put this aside for now, your Kingdom still needs you."
"I know but..." Star felt very conflicted now. She had no real desire to return but she knew the responsibility to do so.
"By the way, did she ever call me 'stupid'?" Tom asked over the phone, loud enough for Marcy to hear.
"Star, you might have hurt Tom's feelings," Marcy said.
"Not my problem right now," an exhausted Star said, much to Marcy's disappointment. "Guess I should go back for now. Lets go everyone."
"Finally, I need to rest my feet," Anne said.
"I need something to eat," Luz said.
"Hey wait, what about the Hot Springs?" Marcy asked. "Don't we wanna go there?"
"Oh, you want to go now?" Marco asked. "We'll need our bathing suits."
"Do we? I mean, we can just go bare," Marcy suggested, surprising not only Marco but the other girls present.
"Bare!?" Marco shouted in worry. "Like naked?"
"Yeah, totally," Marcy said. "We don't need bathing suits for the Hot Springs. I say we just ditch our clothes and go in free from our fabric constraints."
"Is she serious?" Star asked.
"Uh...Marcy, the other day you seemed uncomfortable with that idea," Anne said.
"Yeah, but that was years ago," Marcy said. "Honestly I'm not as worried nowadays."
"Years?" Marco asked. "Oh right, The Neverzone."
"When you're trying to survive for several years in some baron land, you quickly learn that some petty worries aren't worth the energy," Marcy said.
"Still, I'm not sure if we should be nude," Amity said.
"Just a suggestion, we can go in our bathing suits if you want," Marcy said.
"Yeah, this way we can bathe at once without me having to wait my turn," Marco said.
"Pfft, who said you'd need to wait? You could have joined us," Marcy said.
Marco's face turned red as he awkwardly glanced at the other girls, "I don't think anyone here would want that."
"I mean, I can understand, that's a sight I want all to myself after all," Marcy said, earning a huge blush from Marco and an awkward reaction from the other girls. "But I won't be against the idea either, just so long as control is maintained."
"Wow, you really changed Mar-Mar," Anne said.
"Well haven't you changed, Anne?" Marcy asked. "I mean, you were in the Neverzone for a long time too."
"Don't remind me," Anne said, shuddering for a moment. "That whole situation is still screwing with my head. It feels like years at a time just got crammed into my brain at once. I still can't even remember everything that happened but it does feel like forever."
"I'm worried that I forgot some neat spells I learned in there," Luz said. "I could have sworn that I was able to use magic without the glyphs, but I don't remember how."
"It comes back to you," Marco said. "I get how tough the Neverzone can be, it took me a while to get readjusted."
"Somehow, coming back here, I felt my age," Amity said. "I should feel like a woman in my thirties but I don't."
"Really wish Hekapoo could explain, but I think she's still ticked off that we went in there," Anne said.
"She was just worried, she knows how hard that place is for mortals," Hekapoo said. "I think she just wanted to be there as well to keep you safe."
"You all figure out what you want to do, I have things to do," Star said.
"Don't want to join our little nude party?" Amity teased.
"Amity! Don't tell me you actually want to go in nude," Luz said.
"Just teasing," Amity said.
"I am not interested in nudity right now," Star said, grabbing her scissors. "Or ever for that matter."
"Now dear, maybe a dip in the Hot Springs will be good for you," River said. "Even your mother needed time to destress."
"Another time papa," Star said, entering through a portal.
River turned to the young teens, "Why don't you head off then? A good dip would be great for all of you. I'm going to check on Star before continuing the search on my own."
"You are one devoted husband, I respect that," Anne said.
"And a really great father too," Amity said.
"It's all about love, my dear children," River said. "Something our young Marco and Marcy excell at."
"Yeah, Marco and I rule as a couple," Marcy said, a slight blush on her face. "We did some awesome things in the Neverzone, and I can't wait to go back."
"We will, another time," Marco said. "Let's just grab our bathing suits and take a dip in the Hot Springs, might be able to plan our strategies better."
"Yeah sure, let's get to bathing," Anne said.
After a quick trip to Mewni Castle to change, Marco and his friends had taken a trip back to the Hot Springs, making their way through the woods.
Marco had a simple bathing suit with just his shorts, and a towel wrapped around his neck that covered his chest area.
To his left was Marcy, the girl wearing a two-piece suit, surprisingly skimpy. While not revealing too much skin, she did not seem shy about showing anything off.
Behind him was Anne, the girl wearing a one-piece suit with bathing shorts. Given Anne's prior comments about her discomfort showing off her body, Marco can't say he's surprised by this choice.
Luz wore a one-piece suit as well, only without the shorts, instead she had a floating tube around her waist, though part of her felt a little strange walking around like this.
Amity had a two piece, a modest one that covered her chest along with a skirt to cover the bottom part.
"Are we almost there?" Luz asked.
"Not too far away," Marco said.
"Hey shouldn't you have dropped us off closer?" Anne asked. "That way we don't have to walk as much."
"Sorry, I imagined it a bit further back than I had realized," Marco said. "It's fine, not a long walk anyway."
It wasn't long before they felt the heat emanating from the hot spring, Marcy getting a bit more excited. "It's not too far away."
"It should be just past the bushes and..." Marco pushed through. "And we're here!"
"Marco?" Came a surprisingly familiar voice. Marco immediately noticed that both Sasha and Hekapoo were in the Hot Springs. "Didn't expect to see you."
"Sasha?" Hekapoo? You're both here too?" Marco asked.
"Yeah, I needed a break," Sasha said. "Hekapoo here thought the Hot Springs would do me well."
"Looks like you though so as well," Hekapoo said, then heard some leaves rustling. "Oh, and you even brought some friends."
"Is that Hekapoo?" Luz asked.
"And Sasha?" Anne asked.
"Hey Anna Banana, how's it going?" Sasha asked.
"Uh, fine I guess, just surprised to see you here," Anne said.
"Yeah, I mean did you plan to...wait," Marco turned to the girl beside him. "Anna Banana?"
"That's so cute!" Luz said, to Amity's slight jealousy."
"Glad you like it," Anne said, then focused back on Sasha. "Well, we all came here to bathe, should we wait for you two to finish?"
"Of course not, the more the merrier," Sasha said. "Join the party Anne."
"There's plenty of room," Hekapoo said.
"That cool with everyone?" Anne asked.
"Yeah sure," Luz said, everyone else agreeing.
"Alright, lets dive in," Anne said, about to head inside.
"Wait hold on, are you all wearing bathing suits?" Sasha asked.
"Yeah, aren't you?" Anne asked. Sasha answered the question by standing up, everyone else immediately shielding their eyes. "Whoa! Sasha!"
"Bit too much of you there!" Luz said.
"Show some shame, will ya!?" Marco shouted.
Sasha sat back in the water, smirking to herself, "Hey this is a place to bathe, and despite the name, bathing suits aren't needed for that."
"Geez, you know I'm a boy right, you can't just...show yourself off like that in front of me," Marco said.
"Not to mention we have a couple girls here who might be just as flustered as Marco is," Anne said.
"Pfft, I couldn't care less about Sasha in a physical sense, she's not my type," Amity said.
"What is your type? Nerdy girls?" Sasha asked.
Luz glared at Sasha, "That better not have been directed at me!"
"Just joking Luz, chill," Sasha said. "Honestly by this point, I actually have a lot of respect for you. For all of you."
"Huh? Respect for us?" Marco asked.
"You spent years in the Neverzone right? You even split up at one point and survived by yourselves," Sasha said. "As someone who's conquered the Neverzone, including going against a lady named Brunzetta and absolutely wrecking her in a fight."
"I find that hard to believe," Marco said.
"Point is, you girls did great and I respect you now," Sasha said. "I mean, I always respected Anne and Marcy, we are friends after all."
"Yeah, always..." Anne half-heartedly commented.
"But now I can say that I respect Luz and Amity," Sasha said. "You too Marco, I know you went in there first. I am curious as to what you look like when you're in there, Hekapoo says you're a whole different person."
"Oh he's super sexy," Anne bluntly stated.
"Totally, his muscles are firm and hard," Luz added.
"Uh...are you two flirting with Marco?" Marcy asked.
"No, we're complimenting him," Anne said.
"Uh-huh..." Marcy suspiciously stated.
"Marcy, remember that you're the reason we got stuck in there, so if Anne and Luz happen to find his Neverzone self sexy, that's kind of on you," Amity said. "But I do agree, he was very handsome."
"Wow, pretty popular, aren't you Marco?" Sasha teased. "Gotta see for myself one day, and then you'll get to see me too."
"Yeah, sure," Marco awkwardly said.
"So, you coming in or what?" Sasha asked. "Feel free to keep your bathing suits on, personally I find the water better in my state."
"Same," Hekapoo said, the water barely covering her top. "It's total freedom."
"Uh...maybe we should come back another time," Anne whispered to Marco. "I'm not sure if I'm comfortable bathing near naked girls, even if one of them is my best friend."
"Yeah, sounds like a good idea," Marco said, about to turn. "Hey maybe we'll-"
Suddenly he saw a bikini top fly past him, he turned to the side and immediately turned bright red, "Marcy!"
The other girls noticed and immediately turned away as well, Luz and Amity both flustered while Anne felt awkward.
"You can't be serious, Marcy!" Anne said as a bikini bottom flew past as well.
Marcy immediately stepped into the water, feeling refreshed, "Ah, nude bathing, just like I wanted."
"You go Mar-Mar," Sasha said. "Also, couldn't help but notice a bit of muscle."
"Yeah, don't want to be too skinny, and my time in the Neverzone showed me that I am more than capable of looking buff," Marcy said, flexing her arm. She then turned to her friends. "Anyone else coming inside?"
"Marcy's really bold," Anne said. "I'd do the same but, I don't have my Neverzone body, and I'd rather no one see a twig."
"Anne, you look fine," Sasha said. "Besides you're with friends, no one's gonna judge you."
"It's your call Anne, you don't have to go in," Marco said. "None of you girls do."
"Yeah, Marco's right, no one else needs to come in," Marcy said. "I can just bathe and chat with Sasha and Hekapoo."
"Yeah but...kind of wanted to spend time with you too," Marco said, the boy groaning to himself as he grabbed his trunks. "Uh, I don't suppose everyone could turn away for a second?"
"Of course," Amity said as she turned, same with the other girls.
Though that didn't stop a little peeking as Marco dropped down his shorts and quickly went inside the spring. "Alright, you can look again."
"Wow, a naked guy is in here with us naked girls," Sasha teased. "How exciting."
"Please don't make this weird, and let's try to keep our eyes up," Marco said. "Thankfully I have less to cover up than you girls."
"You don't have to worry about seeing me," Marcy said, scooting next to her boyfriend as she placed her arm around him. "After all, it's only natural for us."
"Try not to get too connected in here," Sasha teased.
"Not funny!" Marco said.
"So...you girls coming in too?" Hekapoo asked.
Luz grew increasingly nervous, "Not how expected things to go here."
"Tell me about it," Anne said. "But...I say we just go in. I mean given everything we've done and experienced up until now, a little nudity shouldn't be the end of the world. And hey, when we undress, we'll do it in private, and once in the water, we're covered up again."
"I'll do it if Luz does it," Amity said.
"I'll do it if Anne does it," Luz said.
"And I'm just gonna do it," Anne said, grabbing her shorts. "Now let's get this over with."
One by one, the girls removed any unnecessary clothing and quickly hopped in the springs. Given that the pond wasn't that big, they were all relatively close to one another, a feeling of awkwardness loomed around at first.
"So...how does everyone feel?" Sasha asked.
"Naked..." Anne said.
"Exposed," Luz said.
"Free," Marcy said.
"Eh..." Amity said.
"Honestly...I don't feel that strange," Marco said. "This feels kind of normal."
"Normal? How?" Anne asked.
"I mean, we're all good friends by this point I would say, we've been through...well not a lot but enough together," Marco said. "Fighting off Belos's army and taking down Meteora, not to mention our recent adventure in the Neverzone."
"And the time we went to your world and got us some tacos," Marcy said.
"Exactly," Marco said. "Point is that, I feel a sense of comradery with you girls and well, this doesn't feel too strange to me."
"I can see your point, and I guess being like this with friends isn't too bad," Anne said.
"It's a symbol of trust in a way, like we really have nothing to hide from each other," Luz said.
"Now you're getting it," Sasha said. "Plus, it's just great for the relaxation, it really eases the mind, and it helps having friends to just chill with."
"Star really should have joined us, she needs her mind cleared given the stuff happening regarding Queen Moon," Anne said.
"Is Star still trying to find her mother?" Hekapoo asked.
"Yeah, she's been searching everywhere," Luz said. "We've been helping of course."
"No idea at all where she could be?" Anne asked.
"Sorry, no way of knowing," Hekapoo said. "I mean, if Star found her in the magic realm, by that point she could be anywhere. And that place does a number on your head too so Moon may not find her way back to us that easily."
"Sure seems like she might not even be in Mewni," Anne said.
"You have people looking in The Boiling Isles and Amphibia, don't you?" Sasha asked.
"Well there's more to the Boiling Isles than that specific town," Luz said. "She could be anywhere in that realm. Which worries me, after all, it's not called the Demon Realm for nothing."
"We haven't searched Amphibia much," Anne said. "Wait, you think she went to Earth?"
"Possible theory," Sasha said. "Speaking of Earth, Marcy, you still haven't given King Andrias that Calamity Box, have you?"
"Oh right...I keep putting that off, I hope he's not losing his patience," Marcy said.
"You need to get that done ASAP," Marco said. "You need to tie up all your loose ends."
"Yeah, of course..." Marcy also knew she kept putting off telling Anne and Sasha the truth about why they ended up stuck in Amphibia.
"I've been thinking about home a lot, I mean, I hoped we could go back once this Belos thing was sorted out," Anne said. "Then Meteroa showed up, and I wanted to help with that but now Belos is back, I think. Now with this Queen Moon situation, it feels like there's always something keeping me away and...honestly, I don't know how much more I can do it. I mean, I want to help my friends but, I get really homesick sometimes."
"I know that feeling, I miss my mom, but I'm not ready to just go back home yet," Luz said. "I don't know how to tell my mom that I want to continue my adventure. Still, she must be so worried about me right now."
"You're lucky Marco, your parents seem so cool with you coming to Mewni," Marcy said.
"My parents are very understanding, not that they don't worry, but they just trust that I can take care of myself, and they trust Star to keep watch over me," Marco said. "Now I have more friends to help with that, and to help watch over."
"That's great Marco, unfortunately I can't say the same for my parents," Anne said. "My mom thinks I'm very immature, and I guess I haven't always acted in a way to prove her otherwise. If she knew about everything I've been doing, she'd freak out."
"My mom would freak out too, mostly because of how protective she is of me, especially after losing my dad," Luz said. "I don't want her to think she'll lose me too."
"That won't happen," Marco said. "Because we won't let anything happen to you."
"Got that right," Anne said. "We're a team after all."
Sasha turned her attention to the sole witch of the group, "So, Amity, do your parents know you've been in Mewni?"
"I don't know, I haven't spoken much with them lately," Amity said. "My mom would freak out if she knew I was hanging around more humans. My dad...honestly he probably hasn't even noticed that I'm not even around. He's always so swamped in his work."
"Not the best relationship with your parents, huh?" Sasha asked.
"Honestly, it's mostly my mom that ticks me off," Amity said. "She's too controlling, I mean she even used to dye my hair green because she wanted me to look like her, even down to how she had my hair. She also picked my friends, which is how I ended up with Boscha. She just doesn't let me live my own life, and it's even harder when I have my perfect brother and sister to measure up to."
"Hey, Edric and Emira seem pretty cool nowadays," Luz said. "At least they promised not to steal your diary again."
"Honestly...I'm worried they're tempted to without me around," Amity said.
"Do they know you're here?" Marco asked.
"Gus told me he saw them the other day, they know I'm in Mewni, but I haven't actually spoken to them," Amity said.
"You probably should, they might be worried about you," Marco said.
"I really don't want to deal with my family though," Amity said. "I don't want to see my mom and deal with her judgement. I'm not obligated to check up on my brother and sister, if they want to, they can come see me in Mewni. My dad...why bother, he never talks to us anymore. It sucks too, he's actually very talented and at the very least, isn't cruel like my mom, but he just doesn't get me sometimes."
"Amity, you shouldn't feel this way," Luz said. "I know you at least miss Edric and Emira, you haven't always gotten along but they are the ones who support you the most in the end. They're the ones who vouched to keep me, Gus and Willow in Hexside when your mom wanted us out."
"Honestly, I'd like to meet your brother and sister, I bet they're really nice," Marco said.
"I can see you and my brother hitting it off actually," Amity said. "My sister might need some work, I mean she might like Sasha."
"I mean, who wouldn't like me?" Sasha boasted.
"That a trick question?" Luz said, smirking at the blonde.
"I'm just glad you said it in a language I could understand," Sasha said.
"What about your parents Sasha?" Marco asked.
"What about them?" Sasha asked.
"What are they like?" Marco said. "I imagine they might be worried about you too."
"Eh, probably," Sasha said.
"Probably?" Marco said. "Uh, Sasha, how is your homelife like exactly?"
"Nothing worth mentioning," Sasha said.
Marco glanced at Anne and again at Marcy, both shaking their heads, discouraging the continuation of this conversation.
"Honestly Anne, I know things seem tough, but you're not obligated to stay and help," Hekapoo said. "If you think you parents are worried and you want to go home, you should. That goes for all of you."
"I'm fine staying, my parents won't mind it if I save the world," Marcy said.
"Oh really?" Marco asked.
"Yes...really," Marcy replied. "But Anne...maybe you should go back, and with the scissors, I can still see you anytime you miss me."
"That does sound nice," Anne said.
"And I can lend a pair to Luz once in a while if she wants to see her mom," Marcy said.
"That might be easy, I can keep in touch and still continue my witch training," Luz said.
"Actually, maybe you should have your own pair, all of you," Hekapoo said. "I mean, you did brave the Neverzone, so I guess you proved yourselves worthy. I'll get them all engraved for you later."
"Wow, this is great if you mean it," Anne said. "Makes it easier going back home, and I can still visit The Plantars."
"I can stay at home and at The Owl House," Luz said. "This really makes me happy."
"Glad I can help," Hekapoo said. "But remember, this is a HUGE responsibility, so don't make me regret this, I do not like regretting things."
"Any chance Meteora is one of those regrets?" Marco asked.
"Eh...I mean I'm not happy that she came back but that attack is why I didn't want her anywhere near the throne," Hekapoo said. "Monsters can't always control themselves."
"Well, this might make it awkward because I think Star recently decided she was going to allow monsters to love in Mewni," Marco said.
"Wait, she's what!?" Hekapoo shouted. "Ugh, gotta run this by the Commission."
"Need me to come?" Sasha asked.
"I'm fine," Hekapoo said, stepping out of the water. This caused Marco, Luz, Amity and Sasha to turn away awkwardly while Anne and Marcy glanced somewhat jealous. While they were cooler with each other, Hekapoo had more of a woman's physique that was a bit intimidating to the group in the pond. Once dressed, Hekapoo stepped through the portal, "See you in a bit."
"Wow...she's got one fine body," Sasha said. "Marco, in your time in the Neverzone, have you and Hekapoo ever...you know."
"I never did anything raunchy if that's what you're alluding to," Marco said. "Granted she did seem to flirt with me on occasion as I got older in there."
"Lucky you, a hot girl like that having her eyes on you, really makes you feel like a man, doesn't it?" Sasha asked.
"I guess..." Marco said.
"You know, we should all do this again sometime, but in the Neverzone," Sasha said. "I have a feeling it would be more fun in there."
"Pfft, you would say something like that," Amity said.
"Earlier you said I wasn't your type, but I guarantee if you see me in the Neverzone, you won't be able to resist me," Sasha said.
"I think I'd rather be with Marco," Amity said.
"Oof, that kind of hurt," Sasha playfully said. "Marco does have a bit of femininity to him though, I can see why you'd be attracted to that, even if you claim to be 'exclusive' to girls."
"Hey, I've said before and I will say it again, if I had to take a chance with a guy, it'd be Marco," Amity said.
"Prove it, kiss him," Sasha said.
"Sasha! I have a girlfriend!" Marco said.
"Yeah, I don't want anyone kissing my boyfriend," Marcy said.
"Just share for a bit Mar-Mar," Sasha said. "I mean, we could make this fun and have all of us kiss Marco."
"Sasha, not the best idea right now," Anne said.
"Yeah, I'm not comfortable kissing all you girls, especially when we're all still naked," Marco said.
"Yeah, maybe now's not the best time," Sasha said. "If you kiss me, I'm gonna want you in me."
"SASHA!" Marcy shouted.
"Aren't we a bit too young to talk about this kind of stuff," Marco said.
"First of all, we're all technically adults, just not in this realm," Sasha said. "Second, we fought in battles against monsters, witches and all kinds of terrible things, so sexual desires should not be that strange."
"Feels like apples and oranges to me," Marco said.
"Fine, guess I'm just getting a bit carried away, forget I mentioned it," Sasha said. "Anyway I think I need a break from this bath, I'm gonna go see what Hekapoo's up to."
Sasha stepped out of the hot spring, once again without a care in the world of who sees her, especially Marco.
The boy did blush a bit but he maintained himself, opting to not focus on anything perverted. He had attraction to Sasha but not enough that he desired her in any way.
Once dressed, Sasha opened the portal. Before leaving, she did turn to her friends, "Listen, Anne, if you want to, maybe you should go home for a bit, take a break from the adventuring. I'd say the same to Marcy but she seems set on continuing her adventure."
"I'll think about it, Sash," Anne said.
"Luz, that goes for you too," Sasha said. "At least spend a bit of time with your mother, and Amity, try to get your dad's attention."
"Uh, sure," Luz said as Sasha left. "That was oddly nice of her."
"Think she's trying to distract us from that kissing suggestion?" Amity asked.
"A little, but she is being sincere," Anne said. "Sasha's a pain but she does have a good heart, she just needs help showing her kindness once in a while."
"Wish she could do it more, this is the closest I've seen to her being nice and I kind of prefer her this way," Luz said. "A little dirty minded but still friendly."
"Well, like she said earlier, you earned her respect," Anne said. "You might earn it more if you show off your cool magical moves."
"Is it me though, or was she a little flirty to Amity," Marco said.
"Seemed obvious that she was hitting on her," Anne said. "Honestly Sasha has shown some attraction to girls, but she was never too clear about where she stands in regard to preferences."
"After what she said to Marco, I think she wouldn't mind boys either," Luz said. "Unless she's like Amity and would only consider Marco."
"Why me though?" Marco asked.
"I don't know, you just seem nice and friendly, also you're cute as Turdina," Amity said. "I can't see us dating for real, in the end I don't think I can really see myself with a boy, regardless of how handsome he is, but I am still curious about you. Not that it matters, Marcy's dating you and I wouldn't come between a guy and a girl, especially not for something that wouldn't even be long term."
"Plus, aren't you dating Luz?" Marco asked, then recalled the Neverzone. "Oh right..."
"I do want to give it a real shot," Amity said. "But I need to know Luz wants it too.
"I do, or at least, I want to give it a chance as well," Luz said. "But, things just got strange in the Neverzone, and...well, truthfully I can't even remember why we had that argument we did."
"I know it had to do with Anne," Amity said, glancing at the now awkward girl. "But, I suppose that can be in the past, I just need to make sure we're committed to our relationship."
"You just need more time dating each other, that's all," Marco said. "Just focus on that, regular dates over group dates."
"That sounds like a good idea, we just need to figure out a time and place," Luz said.
"I plan to do the same with Marcy," Marco said. "Even if we had plenty of dating time in our time spent in the Neverzone together."
"Oh yeah, we had plenty," Marcy said, the girl leaning in close to a now awkward Marco.
"Well, I'm starting to feel like a raisin," Anne said. "Probably should head out."
"Good idea," Luz said.
One by one, the girls stepped out of the Hot Springs, aside from Marcy, who stayed next to Marco. The boy felt a little weird at first but like with Sasha, focused less on his desires and more on just his friendship.
The girls did give each other a sense of privacy as they got dressed. Marco was about to leave but Marcy kept him inside.
"Not yet, I kind of want to tell you something," Marcy said.
"Sure," Marco said, turning to the now dressed girls. "Take my scissors, I'll use Marcy's."
"You got it," Anne said, opening a portal. "Don't take too long."
"Yeah, you don't want to overheat," Luz said.
"Not too much at least," Amity teased, all three finally stepping through.
Marco turned his attention to his girlfriend, "So what did you want to-"
Marcy cut him off with a very passionate kiss, one she seemed to have been saving for a while. She eventually broke off, the girl grinning in pleasure.
"Just that I love you so much, and thanks for always being there for me," Marcy said.
"L-love?" Marco said. Despite how long they had technically been dating, hearing that word was still a shock to him. "Thanks, I...love you too."
"You shouldn't be so shy about saying it, after all, we showed it in great detail while in the Neverzone," Marcy said. "It's a miracle only two of us came back through that portal."
"Yeah, big miracle," Marco nervously said, then found himself locked in another kiss, one that lasted a little less bit still full of passion.
"Let's have a little fun in here, maybe even an encore of some of our more romantic moments in the Neverzone," Marcy said, resuming the kiss that Marco more than eagerly returned.
Later that day, Star was seen conversing with Hekapoo about something, one that the demon girl still seemed furious about.
"You mean to tell me that despite your fights with Ludo, despite what Meteora did, you still want monsters to roam freely in our Kingdom!?"
"Why do you think all monsters are bad!?" Star shouted. "Buff Frog isn't bad, but this type of talk is the reason he left Mewni. I mean why wouldn't he? Who would want to be treated poorly for something that individual was born with?"
"Monsters are dangerous Star, or did you forget about the countless wars Mewni had with them over the generations!?" Hekapoo asked.
"I haven't forgotten Hekapoo, that's why I want monsters to co-exist, why fight when we can be friends?" Star asked.
"You're wasting your time with this law, I mean once Queen Moon comes back, she'll just reverse it," Hekapoo said.
"Not if I convince her," Star said.
In the distance, Sasha was observing with her arms folded while leaning against a wall, somewhat bored of this conversation. It wasn't long before she was joined by Marco and his main female friends.
"So, how long has this been going on now?" Marco asked.
"For way too long," Star said. "Neither girl is backing down."
"Gotta admire Star's stubbornness against Hekapoo's," Anne said.
"This can't be good for Star though, she's already going through a lot, none of this is helping," Luz said.
"Yeah..." Came the voice of Janna, the fellow human girl munching on some chips. "Star's just going to stress herself out again."
"Wait, where'd you come from?" Marco asked.
"My mother's uterus," Janna said, making Marco and the other girls uncomfortable.
"Not what I meant, smart mouth," Marco said. "You've been gone for like, days."
"I have a life of my own, dude, you don't need to know everything I do," Janna said.
"Ugh, fine," Marco said. "Still, this is getting out of control."
"I hate to say it, but Star might be wasting her time," Janna said. "She may be acting Queen, but there's only so much her authority can manage right now. At least she only has to deal with Hekapoo, her boys are off looking for Eclipsa, along with Grime, Lilith and Raine."
"Oh right, Eclipsa went to find Globgor," Marco said. "So that's two searches for two queens, a queen of old and a queen of new."
"Yeah, pretty much," Janna said.
"After Eclipsa finds her monster lover, you think she'll go looking for Belos right afterward?" Luz asked.
"Oh that's a given," Sasha said. "Though Hekapoo figures that one bright side is Eclipsa and Belos destroying each other."
"That's terrible!" Marcy said.
"Her words, not mine," Sasha said. "I mean, both are enemies so that benefits us."
"Still seems cruel," Luz said.
As the conversation continued, Willow came running into the hall, "Hey Star!"
"It's Queen Star," a knight said.
"Acting Queen Star," the girl corrected. "And it's fine if she just calls me by my name." She focused on Willow, "What is it?"
"I think we found your mother," Willow said.
Star's eyes widened in surprise, "Wait really? My mother is...wait, 'we'?"
"Star!" Gus said, coming in with a poster. "We found this outside of town!"
"There were a few of them, you should really enforce some laws regarding littering," Maddie said, having come in.
"Let me see," Star took a good look at the paper. "Come see Queen Moon live at the Pie Carnyvale." The girl's eyes widened in shock. "My mom's at some fair!?"
"Did someone say...Pie!?" King River shouted, looking somewhat displeased.
"Wait, did either of you actually see my mom?" Star asked.
"We didn't actually go, we just found the poster laying around," Gus said. "But at least you have a new lead."
"This is amazing! Oh thank you both so much!" Star said, hugging the Boiling Isles witches. "Looks like we have a new journey to start! Let's head out!"
"Uh, Star, it's been a long day, let's go tomorrow," Marco said, the other girls agreeing.
"Fine...wusses," Star said.
"Hey!" Marco shouted, the other girls clearly displeased as well.
"Don't worry, you're not wusses," Sasha said. "She's just feeling pouty."
"Still, very rude," Marco said.
"You know she doesn't mean it," Sasha said. "Why don't you get some rest, seems like it's gonna be a long day tomorrow."
"Yeah, sure," Marco said. "Let's go girls."
"Yeah sure," Amity said, following Marco alongside her friends.
The next day, Star brought her father and usual squad with her to find her mother at the Carnival, though it wasn't limited to just them. Gus and Willow came along due to them being the ones who found this out in the first place, along with Sasha who figured she'd help out his time, not just for her friends, but also for Hekapoo.
When the kids found out, they wanted to come and take part in the games. Hop Pop and Eda came to Chaperone, the group coming before the entrance.
"Pie...Carnyvale, now with Queen Moon," Star read. "My mom is Queen Moon!"
"Well, what are we waiting for then?" Anne said. "Let's go inside and-"
"Wait up!" River said, running in fast and accidentally knocking over Marco, Luz and Anne. "PIE FOLK!"
"Pie Folk?" Star asked as Marcy and Amity helped up Anne, Luz and Marco.
"They're the biggest scammers in all of Mewni," River said. "This so called 'Carnyvale' may seem sweet and innocent, but it's just a trap, to take everything you own! Your horse, your carriage, your wedding ring!"
"That was oddly specific," Sasha teased. "What were you scammed yourself there, old man?"
"Maybe, I might have wanted a Boom Box," River said. "But now they have my wife!"
"That won't stop me from looking," Star said, heading inside.
"Honey wait! Wear a money belt!" River called. "She's doomed."
"We'll go keep an eye on her, Your Majesty," Gus said, following Star along with Willow and Maddie.
"You can do that..." Sprig said, checking the place out. "Meanwhile I want to see if there are any rides."
"That sounds fun," Polly leapt on King's head. "Carry me away."
"Uh, what about Queen Moon?" King asked.
"We'll keep an eye out along the way, now get moving," Polly said, King reluctantly going along with it.
"We'll keep an eye out," Ivy said. "Honestly, splitting up might be a good idea, cover more ground faster. Plus, we do have back-up."
"Yeah, Frobo's with us!" Polly said, gesturing to the robot at the souvenir stand. "Hey! Frobo! Don't buy anything here! You don't have the cash!"
The robot reluctantly put an item down and proceeded to follow Polly.
"Good to have the extra muscle," King said.
"I'm sure you'll do a fine job protecting me too, my sweet King," Polly said, gently stroking his head.
"Uh...sure," King said. "Let's just get going."
Sprig scratched his head, wondering just what Polly felt for regarding King. While she took him on a date, she isn't too sure if she's serious about liking him or if she's just goofing around.
"I hope Polly knows what a relationship actually is," Sprig said.
"She'll be fine," Ivy said, placing her arm around Sprig. "Let's hurry."
"If you are going to split up, try to stay in groups!" River called.
"Good idea, meanwhile, I'm gonna go grab a snack," Marco said. "Let's go Mar-Mar."
"Maybe they have a tunnel of love here," Marcy teased.
"If there is, I can see Polly dragging King onto it," Marco said.
"Oh totally," Marcy agreed.
Anne turned to Luz and Amity, "Alright, guess it's just the three of us."
"Four," Sasha corrected. "I'm coming with you, keep you safe from the scammers."
"Can this place really be that bad?" Luz asked. "I mean, the King can be a little...eccentric."
"King River might be a little out of it, not that I blame him, the man really misses his wife after all," Amity said. "But he might have a point, this place looks really shady. Keep an eye out for each other."
Further in the back, Eda and Hop Pop were checking the sights out themselves, the witch stroking her chin in curiosity, "Something tells me I might fit right at home here."
"Let's not get distracted, focus on finding the Queen," Hop Pop said.
"You really think she's here? I mean, King River did say these people are the scamming type, so Queen Moon might not even be here, Eda said.
"Can't hurt to try," Hop Pop said, checking is wallet. "Better keep this thing nice and secure though."
Marco and Marcy passed by a booth, the boy taking note of the pies on display. "Oh, those look nice, maybe we can share one."
"I'm down with that," Marcy said.
"Hey lady, how much for a pie?" Marco asked.
"Six Fifty," the lady said.
"You mean, six dollars and fifty cents or six hundred and fifty dollars?" Marco asked.
"Pretty sure it's the first one, no pie is worth six hundred and fifty dollars," Marcy said.
"Do you know for sure, deary?" the lady said, Marcy suspiciously eyeing her.
"Well, which is it then? Six Dollars or Six Hundred?" Marcy asked, the woman not replying, only offering a smirk.
"Hey I'm fine paying six hundred, I got the cash," Marco said, though just as he was about to grab it, Marcy started shoving him away.
"Marco Diaz, you are not paying that much for a pie!" Marcy shouted.
"But I'm hungry!" Marco said.
"Find something cheaper!" Marcy said, glaring back at the lady. "Geez, I know amusement park food can be pricey but that was just pure robbery."
"Good on you Marcy, a good woman keeps an eye out for her man," River said, just as his mood turned somber. "Just like me and my wife..."
Anne looked around, the girl not too far away from Sasha, Luz and Amity but far enough that she was alone for the moment.
"If I were a Queen who lost her memories in a magical realm full of unicorns after a battle against a monster, where would I be?" Anne wondered.
"My, aren't you an interesting young child, Anne Boonchuy?" came a mysterious voice, one that spooked Anne.
"Uh, what was that?" Anne asked.
"Such amazing power dwells within you, I can sense it," came the voice again.
"Uh, is someone trying to reach me?" Anne asked. "Wait, is this voice actually in my head or..."
"Why waste your time with these peasants, when you could be serving something greater?" came the voice.
"Alright, whoever you are, stop trying to freak me out, you're just getting on my nerves," Anne said. As she turned she faced a mirror, but instead of he reflection, she instead saw a glimpse of Belos.
"Is that so?"
"GAH!" Anne fell backwards. "What in the...?"
"Anne!?" Luz called, the girl rushing toward Anne. "Are you alright?"
"Yeah, I think so..." Anne said.
"What's going on?" Sasha asked, running over with Luz. "Anne, what's wrong?"
"I could have sworn I saw Emperor Belos, he was saying weird stuff to me about power," Anne said.
"Belos? Are you sure Anne?" Amity asked.
"Yeah, I mean, unless I imagined it or something," Anne said.
"It could be a trick, you need to stay with us," Sasha said. "Come on."
Anne walked off with the girls, looking back in curiosity, unaware that Belos had made his presence known again, the Emperor glancing at the girls. "Such amazing power those two have, Anne and Sasha. You and the Blight girl are smart to keep them close Luz, but how strong are your grips exactly?"
Star continued to look around, frustrated at having not found her mother yet, "Dang it, where could she be?"
"Hey Star!" Gus said, getting her attention. "I just found out about a play that supposedly stars your mother, it's called 'Butterfly Follies' or something."
"Huh? Weird name," Star said. "But if my mom's there, then that's my chance to grab her."
"Willow and Maddie saved you a seat, I gotta find everyone else," Gus said as he left.
"Your dedication is admirable Gus!" Star said, focusing on the play area. "Alright mom, here I come."
As Marco looked around, hoping to find a pie to try out, Marcy kept an eye out to make sure no one scammed her boyfriend.
"There's gotta be somewhere to get a pie," Marco said.
"Why do you want a pie so badly?" Marcy asked. "Just wait for lunch if you're hungry."
"I just really want pie," Marco said.
"That's fine, just not for six hundred and fifty dollars!" Marcy said.
"Did you just say $650?" a nearby vendor said.
"No! And stay away from my boyfriend!" Marcy warned, then thought to herself. "I wonder if this is how Anne felt whenever she had to protect me making mistakes?"
"Stop that witch!" a person shouted, Marco and Marcy turning to see Eda fleeing from a crowd.
"This stack of pies is mine now, suckers!" Eda mocked.
"Uh, did she steal those or something?" Marcy asked.
"Who cares!" Marco chased after the older witch. "Eda! Give me a pie!"
"Marco wait!" Marcy shouted, chasing after him.
Hop Pop was also chasing after the crowd, the old frog stopping to catch his breath, "Dang it Eda."
Also nearby, Polly was seen taking in the sights, wondering what she could do for fun. "Not a lot of rides, some carnival this is."
"I think I see a game we could play," King said, gesturing to a ring ross game.
"That looks like fun, almost as fun as the spitting contests I took part in," Polly said.
"...You took part in what?" King asked.
"Come on King, come on Frobo!" Polly said.
"Following..." Frobo said, joining Polly and King.
Not too far off, Sprig was frantically searching around for something, "Polly! Ugh, can't believe I got separated from her, Hop Pop's gonna flip."
"Honestly I didn't think she'd be hard to lose, she's traveling with a robot," Ivy said.
"Not helping!" Sprig said, frantically searching for his sister with Ivy following.
As the two continued to look, they spotted Eda running by with a bunch of pies, then flying off with the other Pie Folk behind her, yelling at the witch.
"Wonder what Eda did?" Ivy said.
"Probably something cool," Sprig said, then took note of Marco and Marcy. "Hey, Mar Squared!"
"Mar what?" Marco asked.
"It's my couple name for you since both your names begin with a 'Mar'," Sprig explained. "Pretty cool right?"
"Eh, could use some work," Marco said. "Where's Eda?"
"She flew off with the pies," Sprig said.
"Dang it, I wanted one," Marco lamented.
"So, enjoying the carnival?" Marcy asked. "Also where's Polly?"
"I...kind of lost track of her," Sprig said.
"Seriously? We're already looking for Star's mom, now we gotta add your sister to that list?" Marco asked. "Also, where's King? Was he with her?"
"Yeah, I don't know where either of them are now," Sprig said.
"Frobo is with them at least," Ivy said.
"I know but..." Marco took note of an oncoming Gus. "Oh hey man, you find something?"
"Butterfly Follies play, Queen Moon," Gus said, trying to catch his breath. "Already told Luz and her squad."
"Let's hurry then!" Sprig said, rushing past his grandfather. "By the way, I lost Polly, can you find her Hop Pop? Thanks!"
"You what!?" Hop Pop shouted in annoyance. "Dang it Sprig!"
The group had arrived at the play, a good chunk of it had passed but they showed up just in time to see what looked like Queen Moon.
"There she is!" Marco said.
"No way! She's actually here!?" Anne asked in disbelief.
"Wow, that wasn't too hard," Luz said.
"Mom!" Star shouted, running over to hug the older woman, much to not only her surprise, but the crowd's. "You're here! You're actually here!"
"Uh...excuse me?" Moon asked.
"Oh how I've waited for this hug," Star said.
"Excuse me, but who are you?" Moon asked.
"Oh right, you were stuck in a magical dimension with unicorns where you lost your memory," Star said.
"That's such a weird sentence," Sasha commented.
"Look, what matters is that you're my mom," Star said.
"Queen Moon is like a mom to us all," an actress playing Star said.
"But she actually is my mother, I should know because I'm Star Butterfly!" the acting queen shouted. "The REAL Star Butterfly."
"So am I, but I can't use this want," the fake Star said, getting a laugh from the crowd.
Star charged some magic in her hands then used a Heart Blast on the actress, "I don't need a wand!"
"Wait, since when can she us magic without her staff?" Amity asked.
"Guess she got stronger," Sasha said. "But um...I don't think the crowd is too happy right now."
"It's the Real Star Butterfly! Get her!" a man in the crowd said as everyone got hostile.
"Wait, why are they attacking her!? She's acting Queen!" Luz said.
"Considering this play was poking fun at her and her family, I'm guessing these people aren't exactly loyal subjects to the Butterfly Family," Anne said.
"Lets help her out!" Marco said. He and his team spread into the crowd, using harmless as possible methods to incapacitate the crowd.
"Sorry mom, but I gotta Queen-nap you," Star said, summoning more magic. "Warnicorn Stampede!"
Everyone hopped on a Warnicorn, riding their way out of the carnival.
"Hey wait! What about Polly and King!?" Marco asked.
"I got them!" a nearby Eda said, flying in with Polly, King and Hop Pop on her Palisman with Frobo following after them on foot.
"Glad that's handled then," Marco said.
It wasn't long before they were far away enough from the Carnival, landing near some cliffs as Queen Moon was gentle settled down.
"Mom!" Star said, hugging the queen.
"Moon Pie!" River said, hugging as well.
"Finally, that's taken care of," Sasha said. "Queen Moon, I know things seem weird but once we get your memories back, it will all make sense."
"Actually, there's something I need to tell you," Moon said, removing her wig, hair now brown and much shorter.
"Holy crap..." Eda knew where this was going.
"Honey...you cut your hair?" River said.
"No, I'm..." the actor began to clear his throat. "I'm not the real Queen Moon. My name is Eric. Sorry for not saying anything earlier, I was trying not to break character."
"You're a guy!?" Sasha asked. "Holy shit! How the hell did you even pass for a woman!?"
"Some people have the gift, just like Marco," Amity said, then noticed Star looking so heartbroken. "Uh, Star?"
"We were so close..." Star said, the girl's eyes filling with tears.
"Star...it's alright," Willow said, comforting the princess. "We'll keep looking."
"Yeah, this was just a bump in the road," Amity said. "Right Marco?"
"I don't believe this..." Marco said, approaching the actor. "You have a gift! Your skin looks just so feminine like!"
"Is he serious?" Amity asked.
"I use luminizer to highlight my cheekbones," Eric said.
"Sometimes Turdina uses glitter," Marco said.
"Uh, ladies, hate to interrupt your make-up advice, but we still have stuff to do," Sasha said.
"I'm with Sasha, we really don't have time for this crap," Star said.
"Wow, you must be the real Star Butterfly," Eric said. "It's an honor to meet you, even if you have been a less than subpar Queen, what with allowing monsters to be part of this Kingdom like if they were actual people."
"Uh what the hell guy?" Amity said.
"That was rude!" Anne said.
"Yeah, don't say terrible things about monsters, they have feelings too!" Marcy shouted.
"Yeah, they feel anger and hatred towards us Mewmans," Eric said. "But I guess it's fine, I mean she's in that fancy castle while we mewmans fend for ourselves."
"Dude, she's been through a lot already, she doesn't need this!" Marco scolded.
"Yeah, back off creep!" Luz shouted.
"I'm just being honest," Eric said. "See my belief is-"
"Take this!" Star turned him into a squirrel-frog hybrid.
"Star!" Marco scolded.
"What? I'm gonna change him back!" Star insisted, though the boy began to hop away, jumping on an eagle's back and flying away.
"That was weird," Luz said.
"Aw, I actually kind of liked him, aside from his discriminatory comments at least," Marco said.
"Great, one more thing I messed up," Star lamented.
"Hey he had it coming, and we'll all vouch for you," Sasha said. "But since this was a dead end, it might be better to just call it a day and head back."
"Right, back to my mom's castle, without my mom," Star said.
"Star, listen to me," Marco said. "We're not done looking, but we need to be smart about how we look, otherwise we won't make any meaningful progress."
"Marco's right," Anne said. "I mean, we kind of came close, at least we marked off another impossibility, it should count for something."
"I guess," Star said, reluctantly grabbing her scissors. "Lets go home."
Before they left, Anne quickly made her way to the eldest witch, "Hey, Eda, you know Belos pretty well, can he communicate with you from afar?"
"Huh?" Eda asked. "Well, usually he doesn't go out of his way to communicate, he likes people being brought to him."
"I could have sworn I saw and heard him today, talking about my power," Anne said. "It kind of freaked me out."
"Let me know if it happens again, I wouldn't put it past that guy to play a dirty trick or two, wouldn't be the first time," Eda said. "But it's fine, I've been learning some new tricks of my own that I can't wait to show off."
"Wow really? That sounds cool," Anne said. "Say, how long have you known Belos, is there like a past between you two?"
"You could say that," Eda said. "Belos has been a thorn in my side almost as long as I've been a thorn in his. He's part of the reason me and my sister had a lot of drama for several years."
"Sorry to hear, but it sounds like you're ready to take him on the moment he shows his face again," Anne said.
"You bet I am," Eda said. "Come on, lets head on out of here."
Later on in the castle, Star spent most of the day looking over possible locations for her mother while also juggling Queen duties. She had help from her friends when she could but the pressure of ruling the Kingdom was very hard on her.
It didn't help that today showed that a group of her own subjects didn't seem to care for her or the Butterfly Family, making her wonder if it's something she did, or if it's something that's existed for a long time. Regardless she felt connected to it all, and it wore her out.
While this was going on, Marcy was seen walking with the Calamity Box, a lot on her mind.
"Hey Mar-Mar," Marco said. "You alright?"
"Yeah, I was just thinking," Marcy said. "I might just take this box to King Andrias."
"Oh, ready to do it?" Marco asked.
"I kind of wanted everyone to be there but...I guess that's just not going to happen right now," Marcy said. "Probably for the better, I still need to tell Anne and Sasha how they got to Amphibia."
"Yeah, you gotta do that fast," Marco said.
"Yeah, I know. Look, I'll just bring Andrias the box, and come right back," Marcy said. "Then I'll tell them right afterwards. Promise."
"Try to stick to it," Marco said.
"I will, if you're by my side," Marcy said. "Even if my friends do hate me, I feel better with my boyfriend, and my one true love."
"Come on, you're making me blush," Marco said, then kissed Marcy on the cheek. "But of course I'll be there for you, my puffy little Marshmallow."
"Heh, Marshmallow, it's cute," Marcy said. "I'm just glad King Andrias is a patient king."
"Yeah, he sounds like a good chum, I bet he's just sitting back and enjoying himself, not caring about that box one bit," Marco said.
Meanwhile in Amphibia.
"How long is Marcy going to take to deliver the Calamity Box to me!?" Andrias shouted in annoyance before relaxing his mind. "Calm down Andrias, Mewni's in a tight spot and Marcy just wants to help, it's in her nature. Still, I need that box, surely she understands the importance behind it...unless that's the reason for the delay." Andrias shook his head. "What am I thinking? She has no real motivation to just take it, does she? I gotta figure this out soon. I might need to go to Mewni and get the box myself."
Later on, Star passed by Glossaryck, her old mentor pouring salt into a pudding cup. "Hey, Glossaryck, I need your help and I am not in the mood for riddles, so answer me straight."
"Uh, alright," Glossaryck said.
"The reason I can't seem to find my mom is because of the magic dimension," Star began. "I can't remember anything but I know it did something to my mom. What could it have done?"
"You're asking the wrong question, you should be asking why you were in that dimension in the first place, that was your first mistake," Glossaryck said.
"Are you serious? I had to go there to find my mom," Star said. "Just like I had to go there to defeat Toffee."
"That might have been a mistake too," Glossaryck said.
"Huh?" Star asked.
"Hey Star, everything alright?" Luz asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine," Star said, making her leave. "I need to lie down."
Luz scratched her head before turning to Glossaryck, "So...are you a magical mentor?"
"You could say that," Glossaryck said. "It's my duty to train the next Queen of Mewni, though with Star on the throne, I am currently out of work until she births an heir."
"Say, were you aware that Eclipsa's daughter was taken and traded away?" Luz asked.
"It is not my place to interfere with matters like that, I simply do my job," Glossaryck said.
"Fine, guess I can't fault you for that," Luz said. "Also, who is Toffee?"
"That is a tale for another time," Glossaryck said, immediately disappearing.
"That guy seems so weird," Luz said.
"I heard that," Glossaryck's voice said, freaking Luz out a bit.
That night, everyone was getting ready for bed, Star was sitting on her bed, checking different portals and stuff.
"Hey Star...?" Marco said, getting her attention. "So...how is things, I mean...how are you doing? I mean I figured you might be displeased...or unhappy, whichever works and-"
"For heaven's sake Marco, I know you have something you want to tell me, just get to the point," Star said.
"Well, I hate to say this but...what if we never find your mom?" Marco asked. "I mean we searched everywhere and if she's not in Mewni, she could be anywhere."
"We'll find her, I just know it," Star said.
"How could you know?" Marco asked.
"Because of this photo," Star said, showing her a picture of her and Marco on the beach.
"Huh? A beach day photo?" Marco asked.
"Tell me, when did we go to the beach?" Star asked.
"Is that a trick question? We never wen," Marco said. "What's going on?"
"That photo is a gift from Father Time," Star said. "It's from the future."
"Hold up!" Anne said, getting their attention as she walked over. "You have something from The Future?"
"Yeah, that's amazing," Luz said.
"It's also proof that everything will work out," Star said. "I mean, the only way I would be this happy is if we found my mom and everything was at peace. This picture keeps me going."
"Uh, I hate to be the one to say this but...have you ever heard of multiverse theory?" Marcy asked. "Like, that might be from the future, but it may not be our future. Like, did this Father Time guy know we would be around?"
"I don't know, I didn't ask for details," Star said. "Also, I really don't need you putting a damper on things, Marcy."
"I'm not trying to, but I do feel like you shouldn't rely too much on a picture that could be from an alternate future," Marcy said.
"Father Time wouldn't give me something from an alternate future, I don't know what weird sci-fi anime told you this but time is straightforward," Star said.
"That's a little scary to be honest, that implies whatever future we're told is what's going to happen, regardless of what we do," Amity said. "Like, what if there's a bad future, do we just accept it fate? Or can we shape our own destinies regardless of what's expected to come?"
"Ugh, you're all such worry warts," Star said. "I'm sure the future is fine for us all, hence me being happy in this picture. Now stop asking so many questions and just get to bed."
"Sure, but first thing's first," Marco grabbed a pie from the Carnival. "Mama Eda has delivered."
"Ugh, she actually gave you one of those pies?" Star asked.
"Hey it's better than too much corn, don't judge me," Marco said.
"Those pies suck, so I will judge you," Star said.
"Just have a slice, it might cool your mind," Marcy said.
"Yeah," Marco said, taking a bite, "It's good."
"Eh, might as well," Star said, taking a slice, when she noticed something. "Hold on! Everyone, put your pies down a second, I need to see something!" While confused, everyone put their pies down, the only thing not whole was a piece of the crust. "One piece is missing!"
"Marco took a bite so-" Marcy was interrupted by the sound of Star punching Marco in the stomach for the piece. "Star! You could have just asked!"
"Can it!" Star said, placing the piece down, much to everyone's disgust. "Over, Under, Around, and Through! Grab the little Mewni rabbit, and pull him through!"
"Is that a poem?" Sasha asked.
"No, it's how my mom makes the crusts, just like when I was a little girl!" Star said, coming to a realization. "These pies, they were made by my mom!"
Just like that, Star had a new lead on how to find Moon.
