Chapter 30: Magical Christmas

For the first time in a while, the gang enjoyed a few weeks of no troubles. There was no sign of Belos or Andrias, which was both a positive since it allowed some peace, and a negative as the lack of communication made everyone feel uneasy.

Of course they were focused more on the Holiday Season by this point. Christmas was nearing and more than anything, everyone wanted to at least enjoy that Holiday.

The Diaz family were putting out their decorations, with Rafael setting up some reindeer on the roof, Marco setting up some lights all over the house, Marcy decorating an outdoor tree, Amity applying some fake snow all the while Angie observed along with Mariposa.

"You're all working so hard on your decorations," Angie said.

"This is just the start too," Marco said, getting some lights on the garage. "We're going to head to the store later and buy some more stuff."

"More stuff?" Angie asked. "Sounds like you're really going for the Christmas spirit."

"Given everything that's been happening, we're due for some Christmas cheer," Marco said.

"There's also our big project," Marcy said. "The Christmas Parade Float."

"You mean the one being hosted near Hollywood?" Angie asked.

"The very same," Marcy said. "We're all going to ride the float through town. It's going to be special because it's the first time all of us are doing something big on Earth."

"One of our only chances to be normal teenagers too," Amity said.

"Exactly...even though we're not teenagers because-" Marcy had her mouth abruptly covered by Marco's hands.

"Because...we still have to do certain teenage things to feel like...real teens?" Marco nervously said.

"Hm...alright," Angie said, then felt Mariposa tugging at her shirt. "I should go inside, I think your sister is hungry."

Once inside, Marco sighed in relief as he pulled his hand away from Marcy, "That was close."

"What was close?" Marcy asked.

"You, nearly ruining our big secret," Marco said. "My parents don't know about the Never Zone, so they don't know we're technically in our 30s. Assuming it even counts because I personally don't count it that much."

"Sasha does," Marcy said.

"Well Sasha is weird," Marco said. "Plus she just wants an excuse to justify fighting in a war, having sex and drinking alcohol."

"Well, you and I are good at two of those," Marcy pointed out, earning a blush from Marco.

"More than anyone our age should be," Marco said. "Our actual age, by the way."

"Yeah, yeah," Marcy dismissed. "Let's just focus on what's important, Christmas!"

"That's my plan after all," Marco said. "So let's focus on that."

"No problem," Marcy said, resuming her work.

During this, Amity took a moment to get Marco's attention, "Hey, Marco, mind if I get something off of my chest?"

"Sure, what is it?" Marco asked.

"I don't want to be that person or anything but...are we making the right call here?" Amity asked.

"In what sense?" Marco asked.

"Is it really a good idea to be focusing on a holiday?" Amity asked. "Given that we're in the middle of a conflict with Andrias and Belos, I don't think we should be stopping to focus on a parade."

"I get what you mean, and I know there's a lot for us to worry about," Marco said. "But that's why we need to do this. We need a little break from all the fighting and drama. Having something good to focus on is better. Do you really want to only focus on war? Or do you want to have a chance for peace?"

"...You might be right," Amity said.

"I'll understand if you're not comfortable, and if you don't want to take part," Marco said, gently placing his hand on the girl's shoulder. "But I think it would mean a lot to everyone if you stuck with this. We really love your company after all."

"I...want to do this too," Amity admitted. "I just want to be sure we'll all be safe."

"If Belos and Andrias try something, we'll be ready," Marco said. "For now, focus on having fun. Don't let them cloud your worries, prove that they have no control over your life."

"I will, thanks Marco," Amity said, leaning in to give her friend a kiss on the cheek. "I'll do it for you and our friends."

"And for yourself," Marco said. "You matter too after all."

"Right, of course," Amity said, a blush forming on her face. "At least we have a good parade to look forward too. I hope Anne and the others are handling things well."

"I think they'll be fine," Marco said.

At the Boonchuy house, Anne and her family are putting up their own decorations, with help from Luz, King and The Plantars.

"So...Christmas," Polly said, the girl walking with some wreaths in hand. "What is it exactly?"

"Not sure," King said, placing some ornaments on an outdoor tree. "Luz and Anne seem to be really excited about it."

"No one seems more excited than Anne's dad," Polly said, gesturing to Bee as he hummed 'Jingle Bells' while holding a large crate of decorations and wearing both a Santa hat mixed with a sweater that had ornaments on them.

"What is he even wearing?" King asked.

"A really ugly sweater," Polly said.

"In this weather?" King asked. "How is he not collapsing?"

"Maybe it's a human thing, they seem to be very resistant to heat," Polly said. "One time we were in a Volcano, Anne, Luz, Marcy and Sasha walked around like it was no big deal. It was so bizarre. Eda handled it well too."

"The Boiling Isles is a pretty humid place, so I'm not surprised Eda adapted well," King said. "But even in The Boiling Isles, you would hardly see anyone wearing a sweater."

"Maybe it's a tradition then," Polly said, then gestured to some stockings. "Ask later, let's finish putting these up."

"I think Anne wants those inside," King said. "According to Luz, if you put your name on these, some fat guy in a suit gives you candy."

"Fat guy? What fat guy?" Polly asked.

"I think his name is Santa, according to Luz, he comes to your house every year and leaves presents," King said.

"...I want more details on this," Polly said.

Meanwhile Luz was placing some lights on a bush, the girl singing to herself, "Deck the halls with boughs of holly, fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la. 'Tis the Season to be Jolly..."

"Nice voice," Anne said, spooking the girl.

"Oh, Anne! Done already?" Luz asked.

"Just about," Anne said, gesturing to some Christmas signs. "Work is almost done. It's a chore sometimes, but a labor of love."

"Yeah, totally," Luz said.

"Still though, you have a pretty voice," Anne said.

"Who me?" Luz asked, the girl laughing and blushing. "No way, my voice is so average. If anyone has the better singing voice, it's you. Especially after hearing that song you wrote."

"Song?" Anne asked, before recalling what happened several weeks back. "Oh right, the Battle of the Bands we were going to take part in. Sucks that it didn't go anywhere, but we had bigger things to worry about."

"You can do it another time," Luz said. "Oh, maybe you can sing your song on your float!"

"That sounds nice, but it wouldn't really fit the Christmas spirit," Anne said. "Besides, we don't even know if we can do the parade. Mom needs to hear back from the Downtown LA Christmas Palooza Parade."

"I hope she has luck," Luz said. "It'd be great to do this, especially for Star."

"Not just her, my mom's dream has always been to be part of that float, it'd be good business for our Family Restaurant," Anne said.

"Double good," Luz said. "Well here's hoping she pulls it off."

Seconds later, Oum came outside, "I just got a call from the Downtown LA Christmas Palooza Parade! They have an opening for our family's float!"

"Wow, talk about great timing," Anne said. "This just means we need to double time it with the decorations so we can round up the gang and make that float."

"Well, truth be told, I do have some worries," Oum said.

"Don't worry, we can get this float done with no problem," Anne said.

"That's not it," Oum said. "I just feel like it would draw too much attention to all of us."

"Too much attention?" Anne asked.

"If this is about that robot and his friend from before, then don't worry, it's been taken care of," Luz said. "Remember my friend Marco?"

"Yes, the boy you and my daughter are close friends with," Oum said. "Granted you never really went into detail on how."

"It's easier to show you," Anne said. "I know it's been a few weeks but things are a little hectic, and we want you to focus on the holidays so you don't get distracted."

"It's because things are bad that I'm having second thoughts," Oum said.

"Please mom, this is your dream," Anne said.

"You should totally follow your dream, Khuṇ p̂ā," Luz insisted. "We promise nothing bad will happen."

"And we can still do our other traditions too, like caroling," Anne said. "And the cookies."

"Don't forget our family Christmas photo," Bee said. "I already picked out a theme, candid!"

"You do family themed pictures?" Luz asked. "That's so neat! You have fun traditions Anne."

"Is there anything you like to do, Luz?" Oum asked.

"Nothing special, me and my mom just watch old Christmas movies or listen to Christmas music," Luz said.

"Luz has to join us on the caroling, she has the voice of an angel!" Anne said.

"It's nothing special," an awkward Luz insisted.

"Nonsense, my daughter is in a band, if she says you sing well, it must mean something," Bee said.

"Of course Anne does have weird taste in music," Oum pointed out.

"Hey! At least I don't sing along to boring old Thai songs!" Anne said.

Oum furrowed her brow at her daughter, "Those boring old Thai songs are part of our culture, young lady. It's good to like what you like, but you must respect your family's culture, like Luz does with her family."

Anne glared at Luz, the girl awkwardly looking away.

"My point is..." Anne continued. "We'll be fine with the float. Trust us on this."

"Alright, we'll go along with it," Oum said. "I know you already started work on it too."

"Do you have all the parts you need?" Bee asked.

"So far, we do," Anne said. "Marco's been helping, plus we've gotten assistance from Ally and Jess."

"That reminds me Anne, we gotta stop by to see them later," Luz said.

"We'll make time," Anne said. "For now, let's just finish decorating."

"Yeah, sure..." Luz said, the girl feeling a bit down as she glanced at the decorations.

"Is something wrong, Luz?" Oum asked.

"Oh, um...it's nothing," Luz insisted.

"I don't know, it feels like something is bothering you," Oum said.

"Nothing's bothering me, I'm quite happy," Luz said, forcing a smile.

"Well, if something was bothering you, I hope you tell us," Oum said.

"Yeah, we want you to be happy here," Bee said. "If there's anything we can do to make it feel like home, name it and we will do our best."

"That's sweet but...I don't think there is anything you can do," Luz said.

"Is it your mother?" Oum asked. "Do you miss her?"

"I do but, there is just something that feels off about Christmas right now," Luz said.

"What's that?" Bee asked.

"It's...the weather," Luz said. "It doesn't feel like Christmas weather."

"Christmas weather?" Bee asked, checking the air. "Feels the same as every year. Warm as the sun."

"That's the thing, it feels warm," Luz said.

"Why would that...?" It took Anne a second to understand. "Oh right, you're from Connecticut. It's not warm there this time of year, is it?"

"No, it's usually chilly, followed by snow," Luz said. "I'm so used to seeing snowflakes around this time, the fact that it's Christmas but feels like summer is so unusual to me."

"Oh right...that is something I never considered," Oum said. "I've been used to this weather my whole life, even when I was in Thailand."

"It doesn't snow there, just like it doesn't snow in Los Angeles," Bee said. "So the whole family is used to warm Christmas holidays."

"Hey, I totally get that, my mom went through something similar," Luz said. "She grew up in The Dominican Republic, it's always hot there too so a White Christmas was forgien to her as well."

"White Christmas?" Polly asked.

"It means it's snowing," Anne explained.

"I'm totally fine without snow, because quite frankly, I have something better," Luz said.

"A suntan?" Polly asked.

Luz giggled a bit, "No Polly. I have friends." Luz turned back to the Boonchuys. "I mostly just spend Christmas with my mom. Which isn't a bad thing, but it's nice having friends to keep you company too." Luz took Anne by her hand, "Especially one as kind as you Anne." She rubbed King's head," And as sweet as you, King."

"Aw, that's sweet of you to say," A now joyous Anne stated. "We're happy to have you here too."

"Yes, you are a very nice young girl," Oum said. "Your mother raised you well."

"Gracias, Khuṇ p̂ā," Luz said, the girl now thinking of her mother. "I hope mom's doing well."

"You still didn't go see her?" Oum asked. "My husband and I told you that you should try to contact her."

"I know I should, but I keep worrying that she'll find out that I've been lying to her," Luz said, the girl worriedly recalling Grom Night, and the form the monster took. "She's going to be so unhappy."

"That may be true, but remember, she is your mother," Oum said. "Take it from me, even when I get mad at Anne for the things she does, I never once stopped loving her."

"Suppose she finds out another way? That might hurt more," Bee said. "You really need to focus on telling her."

"I will...after Christmas," Luz said.

Oum looked a little disappointed by that answer, "Luz, it's never a good idea to put off unpleasant tasks."

"I know, and I won't do it for too long," Luz said. "I just want her to focus on having a nice Christmas, even if I'm not there."

"And how would that make you feel?" Oum asked. "Do you really want to not see your mother for Christmas?"

"I do but..." Luz seemed conflicted. She couldn't disagree with Anne's parents, but this task was easier said than done for her.

"Luz, why don't you think on it for a bit?" Anne suggested, affectionately placing her hand on her friend's shoulder. "This is supposed to be a time of cheer."

Luz glanced at Anne, and just seeing her cheery smile calmed Luz's nerves a bit. "You're right, amiga. I'll do my best to cheer up, last thing I want is to be a sourpuss on Christmas."

"Don't worry about a thing either, Christmas will be super fun for all of us," Anne said. "But I promise that we'll figure out this situation regarding your mom."

"Make it soon," Oum said.

"Excuse me, if I may," Sprig said, getting their attention. "But what is the deal regarding Christmas? Why is it so huge?"

"Well, put simply, Christmas is a time where families get together in harmony," Anne said.

"I thought that was Thanksgiving?" Polly said.

"Well, that too, but that's for more extended family members," Anne said. "Christmas means spending time with people you actually like."

"Anne!" Oum scolded.

"What? You're one of them," Anne insisted, though it did little to dissolve Oum's unhappiness. She turned her attention back to Sprig, Polly and King, "Point is that this is the time of year where you do something nice for someone you love and care about."

"Christmas is about doing good for others," Luz said. "And cherishing happy times."

"That's why we're trying to make a nice Christmas for Star too, she really needs it," Anne said.

"Alright, that all makes sense," Polly said. "But what's the deal with this Santa guy?"

"Oh he brings you presents if you're good," Anne said. "Just leave him some milk and cookies."

"So like a bribe, right?" Polly asked.

"What? No! Did you not hear anything I said?" Anne asked. "It's about doing good for others. Santa delivers presents because he believes in that. He's setting an example of what everyone should do on Christmas. That's why he delivers presents, and it turn we do something nice for him and leave him some milk and cookies."

"Considering he goes out of his way to deliver presents for everyone, doing something nice for Santa is the least we can do," Luz said. "It's not hard to leave milk and cookies after all."

"Sounds easy to me," Polly said. "Especially if it gets me free stuff."

Anne furrowed her brow from that response, "Remember Polly, it's better to give than to receive."

"She's right, you feel much better inside doing something nice for others," Luz said. "Just seeing a warm smile on that person's face can really lift your spirits."

"Hmm...giving to others huh?" Sprig said to himself.

"Come on, let's keep up the preparations," Anne said, then looked around. "Wait, where's Hop Pop?"

"In the garage!" Hop Pop called. "A giant tree fell on me!"

"Oh no, our Christmas tree!" Bee said. "I hope none of the ornaments broke! Those were a gift from my mom!"

"...And you're worried about Hop Pop, right?" Anne asked.

"Hm?" Bee asked. "Oh yeah, that too."

"Let's go help him," Luz said, moving the others along.

Meanwhile Andrias was checking out the production of his robots, the King sinisterly smirking to himself. "Good, it's all going to plan, faster than I expected. And within the budget."

"Things are going along quite well so far, Andrias," Belos said, the man right beside the King. "Since Eclipsa's demise, that is one less worry off not only my shoulders, but the rest of my Coven."

"Good to know, and things are going well for me too, aside from my struggles in destroying Anne Boonchuy and her troublesome friends," Andrias said.

"That time will come, but I do have one question to ask," Belos said, gesturing to three of Andrias's scientists, each of them dressed like Elves. "What in Titan's name are they wearing?"

"I was about to ask the same thing myself," Andrias said.

"It's late Winter in the human realm, this is when they celebrate the holiday known as Christmas," one scientist said. "Marcy told us about it, remember?"

"No," Andrias bluntly stated.

"Funny, I am quite familiar with this Holiday, it's part of human religion," Belos said.

"Religion you say?" Andrias asked.

"To many, Christmas is a very special birthday, and a sign of harmony across the land," Belos said. "Humans are often a divided group, but Christmas is the one thing they all share, and hold dear."

"And wear cute outfits, don't you agree Belos?" a scientist asked.

"It's Emperor Belos," the titan warned, his eyes briefly glowing, freaking the scientists out. "And no, I find your outfits rather repugnant."

"...You didn't have to hurt our feelings!" a scientist said, running off crying.

Even Belos couldn't keep a straight face, the man just staring awkwardly in confusion as he turned to the Newtopia King, "You really should consider getting new minions."

"Duh, why do you think I'm trying to build a robot army?" Andrias pointed out.

"Hm, that's a good point," Belos said, the man rubbing his chin in curiosity. "Robots are a bit out of my knowledge, but I can more than make up for it with those Abominations that I ordered from Odalia Blight."

"Should we have her in our employment?" Andrias asked. "I did mark her daughter for death."

"Yes, that is quite troublesome," Belos said. "Could you perhaps spare her life for now? Leave Amity Blight to her mother. You may exterminate the others however."

"Works for me," Andrias said, noticing a box.

"Now for your Christmas gift!" the newt said, running back to grab the present. Within seconds, some exhausted grunting was heard as the newt desperately pushed the present toward Andrias.

While the King waited patiently on his throne and eagerly awaiting his present, Belos could only scowl in annoyance, wondering how Andrias puts up with such stupidity among his ranks.

Once the gift was near Andrias's feet, the King opened the box, marveling at what he got. "How incredible!" Andrias picked up a dragon fly robot. "What is it exactly?"

"Our new controllable drone, sir," the guard said. "If you sign off on it, we can start mass producing them tomorrow."

"Sounds good to me," Andrias pulled out some goggles and a controller. "Even niftier. Now let's see what this baby can do!" He removed his crown and placed the goggles over his eyes. Bit by bit he started to move the machine, the King impressed by what he was experiencing. "Wow, this is amazing!"

"Looks a bit rickety," Belos said.

"It just needs a test run, and I have the perfect idea," Andrias said. "I will send this drone to Earth, and personally destroy Anne Boonchuy and her friends. Aside from Marcy, whom I need alive. And Amity for reasons we just went over."

"That is actually a remarkable idea," Belos said. "You can lead attacks without having to leave your throne room." He turned to the scientists. "Is it possible for you to apply this technology for my abominations?"

"Theoretically, yes, but we need a few tests from the King's test run," a scientist said.

"This is perfect, once I figure out how to control this, I will finish what I sent Cloak-Bot and Hunter started," Andrias said.

"Hm...I wonder how Hunter is going?" Andrias said to himself.

Meanwhile in Mewni, Hunter was seen sitting angrily in his cell within Butterfly castle where he had been for the last several weeks. He felt infuriated that he had failed in his mission, and was now a prisoner to the enemy.

Across from him was Cloak-Bot, the robot currently shut down, with nothing Hunter could do to rectify the situation. It just made him even more unhappy that the only friend he had was currently out of commission.

Seconds later, he heard a voice call to him, "Hey kid?"

Hunter turned to the side and noticed Eda, the boy now scowling in annoyance. "What do you want?"

"Just here to keep you company," Eda said.

"I don't want it, so you take a hike," Hunter said.

"Hey come on now, kid," Eda said.

"And don't call me 'Kid'!" Hunter snapped. "My name is Hunter! Golden Guard of The Emperor's Coven!"

"Alright, Hunter," Eda said, humoring the boy. "Tell me, do you really want to spend your life like this? Trapped in this dungeon?"

"Of course not, what kind of dumb question is that!?" Hunter asked.

"Then work with me here," Eda said. "Right now things are tense between the Butterfly Family and your uncle. As you are fully aware of, he did kill Eclipsa. You're lucky you're alive right now, because Star is still just about ready to burn your uncle's castle to the ground."

"She won't win, Emperor Belos is far too powerful, especially with King Andrias by his side," Hunter said.

"You seem confident," Eda said.

"The last time you or your friends tried fighting Andrias or Belos, you lost horribly," Hunter said. "That Marco boy was nearly killed and the rest of those kids turned tail and ran."

"And before that, Anne was bringing the fight to Andrias, and was pretty close to taking out Belos," Eda said. "You remember that Blue Form of hers, don't you? And how powerful it is? Well let me tell you that she's only getting stronger, and better at controlling it. As for Luz, well she's not one to rest on her laurels, especially after what's been going on. However strong you think Belos is, eventually that gap will close."

"You stop speaking so blasphemously!" Hunter warned. "Uncle would never lose so easily!"

"No one says it will be easy, but these kids can handle difficulty," Eda said. "Once Belos and Andrias are defeated, you won't have anywhere else to go. So if I were you, I'd consider giving up on whatever it is that Belos has to offer you and pick a better life."

"You really think I would just give up on my uncle!?" Belos shouted. "What kind of a fool do you take me for!?"

"I get that he's your uncle but...wait, how exactly is he your uncle?" Eda asked. "I don't recall Belos having any siblings."

Hunter was about to answer, but refused to elaborate on the subject, "I don't need to explain my family to you."

"Kid, come on, you're a young man and I'd hate to see you waste away in here," Eda said. "It's not too late for you to want a better life for yourself."

"I already have a good life, that's with my uncle," Hunter said.

"You really think so?" Eda asked. "Considering how long you've been in here, I'm surprised Belos hasn't come sooner. I guess he's alright with you wasting away. You could be dead for all he knows, and considering just how pissed off Star was regarding your comments about her grandmother, that could have happened. Remember, you're only alive because I talked her out of it."

"So what? I owe you now?" Hunter asked.

"I'm not asking you to repay a debt," Eda said. "Truth be told, I wasn't just doing it for you, I did it for Star. She's a good kid and I know she would have regretted it if she actually took your life. Right now she's going through some tough times, and it could have been so much worse. Be grateful it wasn't."

"...Tch, whatever," Hunter said. "And just because my uncle didn't show up yet, doesn't mean he sees me as nothing. He'll be here, when he's able to. He's smart! He wouldn't jeopardize himself to save someone when he has an entire Empire to look after."

Given his attitude, Eda thought it redundant to try and continue, at least for now, "I'll give you your space for now, but I'll be back later."

Hunter laid against the wall, still thinking over what Eda had said. He refused to believe that Belos would just leave him here, but part of him did feel like Belos should have made some attempt to look for him.

"It's nothing I'm sure, I'm just overthinking it," Hunter said. "Uncle will be here for me soon."

In the halls of Butterfly Castle, Eda could overhear Star escorting her mother around.

"How are you feeling mom?" Star asked. "Any process on your memories?"

"Some of it is coming back, but it still feels like one big blur," Moon said.

"That's fine, as long as you're making progress," Star said.

"Honestly, the biggest thing I'm trying to adjust to is all the monsters that are in Mewni," Moon said. "Not that it's a bad thing, change can be good."

"I'm happy to hear," Star said, then had a thought. "Wait, do you remember what monsters are?"

"Star, I know what monsters are," Moon clarified.

"Moonpie!" River called, rushing to greet his wife. "Did I hear that your memory is coming back!?"

"Bit by bit," Moon said.

"Huzzah!" River cheered, then had one thing on his mind. "Hold on, I don't suppose you recall our fourteenth anniversary, do you?"

Moon giggled in response to her husband's question, "Of course, you got sick on the Twirly-Whirly Wheel and threw up afterwards."

"Drat! I was hoping that memory would never return," River lamented.

Eda couldn't help but chuckle, finding this exchange cute and wholesome. "I'm glad Star is doing well. Moon too, guess things are looking up."

Later in the day on Earth; Anne and Luz had gone to visit Ally and Jess, along with Marco, Marcy, Amity, Higgs and Sasha. Joining them were Polly, Sprig and King, each of them munching on some cookies.

"This is some good stuff, I bet Santa would like this," Polly said.

"That's a good idea," King said, then called Ally and Jess. "Hey! IT Girls! What's the recipe for these cookies!?"

"We don't know, we just bought them," Jess said.

"We can tell you which supermarket," Ally suggested.

"Hm, that depends," King said. "Is it a good idea to give Santa store bought cookies?"

"Um...I don't think it'd be bad," Jess said.

"Well actually, Christmas cookies are traditionally baked," Ally said.

"My mom's making the cookies," Anne said, carrying some supplies. "So we got that covered."

"But...are they good cookies?" Polly asked. "It'd suck if they were trash. Santa won't give us gifts."

"Polly, stop worrying about getting gifts and focus on being nice," Anne said. "Remember, giving is more important."

"Yeah, yeah," Polly said. "Kind of a stick in the mud, right Sprig?" She noticed her brother was lost in thought. "Sprig?"

"I wonder what Anne would like for Christmas?" Sprig chomped on some cookies in thought.

"Sprig!" Polly shouted, getting his attention.

"Oh, sorry, you were saying?" Sprig asked.

Polly shook her head, "Never mind."

"This has me wondering, is there anything you would like for Christmas, Polly?" King asked.

"There's a lot of things I want," Polly said, glancing at where Frobo was currently being rebuilt. "But one thing I'd love is to see Frobo moving again."

"Oh yeah..." King said, sympathizing with the girl. "That might be hard for Santa do to."

"It's fine, he's being fixed and that's all I care about," Polly said.

"Well, remember," King took Polly by her hand. "I'm here for you."

Polly began to blush as she leaned in to kiss King on the cheek. "You're already my perfect present, King."

"Aw, and you're mine too, Polly," King said, returning the kiss to Polly's cheek.

"Ugh, I'm right here you know!" Sprig shouted.

"What are you so mad about? You have your own girlfriend," Polly said.

Sprig's eyes widened in worry, "Oh crap, that's right! I gotta get something for Ivy! Otherwise she might turn me into a froggy pretzel!"

"Does she know about Christmas?" King asked.

"No, but she'll find out, and I want to be ready," Sprig said. "Plus, she's my girlfriend, it would be nice to do something for her."

"Good on you, Sprig," King said.

Meanwhile Anne wiped some sweat off of her head, "The Float's coming along nicely. It should be ready by Christmas Eve."

"Hey Anne," Marcy said, getting her attention. "We're all going to be on this float, right?"

"Yeah? We agreed to this," Anne said.

"Because we're doing this for Star," Marcy said.

"And my mom, and just to have fun," Anne said.

"...Your parents don't know I've been living with Marco this whole time, do they?" Marcy asked.

"Uh, they might know you stayed there, it's been so long that it's slipping my mind," Anne said.

"It's just that, if they see me, what if my parents see me?" Marcy asked. "What if they go to the parade?"

"...You know, I don't think I considered that," Anne said. "But, is it that bad if they see you?"

"Duh! That's why I got us all trapped in Amphibia! So we can stay together forever and nothing will break us apart!" Marcy reminded, earning herself a glare from Sasha and a confused reaction from Anne, all the while everyone else akwardkly tried not to look. "So…too soon?"

"It will always be, too soon," Anne said. "But point is that you can't avoid your parents forever."

"Says who?" Marcy asked. "I got dimensional scissors, I can go pretty much wherever I want."

"Bad girl, Marcy," Sasha said. "I like the attitude."

"Don't encourage it," Amity said.

"But Marcy, you gotta make peace with your parents, it's the right thing to do," Anne said.

"She's got a point, Mar-Mar," Marco said.

"Since when do you call her that?" Sasha asked.

"Since we started dating, what I'm not allowed to use it?" Marco asked.

"I don't recall you asking permission," Sasha said. "Get your own nickname for Marcy."

"Cool it!" Anne warned, then focused on Marcy. "But seriously, you gotta let your parents know."

"I don't want them forcing me to move," Marcy said.

"Marcy, I know that upset you but that's no reason to run away and worry your parents," Anne said.

"Plus you got the scissors, so I don't know why you're so worried about moving when you can literally go wherever you want," Sasha said.

Anne grumbled in frustration, "Can I PLEASE have a one-to-one conversation with Marcy!?"

"Yeah guys, stop interrupting so much," Luz said.

"Don't you order us around," Sasha said.

"Be nice to Luz," Amity warned. "But seriously, don't order us around."

"I wasn't ordering you around! I was just siding with Anne!" Luz said.

"Don't be a kiss up either, that just makes you look bad," Marco said.

"¡Oye, no te vuelvas listo conmigo!" Luz warned.

"Hey, just because I don't fluently speak Spanish, doesn't mean I don't understand it!" Marco warned.

Anne placed her fingers in her mouth to whistle, "Will you all can it already!? I'm trying to explain something to Marcy!"

"Geez Anne, what's with the bad attitude?" Sasha asked. "Where's your Christmas cheer?"

Anne gritted her teeth in frustration, angrily clenching her fist as her face turned into a big scowl. Fortunately Marcy was quick to calm the situation.

"Look, Anne, I'll consider talking to my parents," Marcy said. "I just don't want to be taken from the people I love and care about the most. That being all of you."

"We love you too, Marcy," Luz said.

"Got that right," Amity said.

"We won't let them take you from us," Marco said.

Anne was able to calm herself enough to resume her normal speaking one, "Just do your best."

"I will," Marcy said.

"You know, speaking of which," Marco made his way over to the girls. "We still have a lot to explain to your parents, especially about us."

"Yeah...I suppose I should tell them more," Anne said. "I'll do that."

Nearby, Higgs was resting against the wall, the girl seemingly confused. This was noticed by Sasha, the girl taking a small break from the float.

"You alright Higgs?" Sasha asked.

"I'm fine, just confused," Higgs said. "Like what is the point of all this? What is the big deal about Christmas?"

"It's just a big holiday on Earth, usually associated with happiness," Sasha said. "I can't promise that you will be happy, but try to make the best of it."

"Seems like there's worry of unhappiness," Higgs said.

"Well Star's still grieving Eclipsa, Marcy's worried about her parents, I think Luz misses her mom, so yeah, a lot to worry about," Sasha said. "Probably why the float is a good thing, keeps everyone distracted."

"What about you?" Higgs asked. "And your parents? Are they around?"

"They are, they're divorced but they're around," Sasha said.

"Oh...sorry to hear about your parents," Higgs said. "I know what it's like to grow up unconventionally."

"It's fine, I'm used to it," Sasha said. "Still, how are you liking Earth life so far?"

"It's nice, but way different than Mewni," Higgs said.

"Each world has its differences," Sasha said. "You got to see Amphibia and The Boiling Isles as well after all."

"Amazing the types of contrasts, especially compared to The Negative Zone," Higgs said.

"Oh yeah, The Negative Zone. Hekapoo and I had a lot of fun in there," Sasha began reminiscing her time in that realm. "All the battles we fought, the enemies we defeated, villages we liberated. We used to drink a lot too, it was fun. One time we got so drunk I..." Sasha began to blush, shaking her head. "Never mind, it's nothing."

"Sounds like things got really exciting for you and Hekapoo," Higgs said.

"You bet, she said I was the most fun I've had since her time with Marco," Sasha said.

"You mention my name?" Marco called.

Sasha's eyes widened for a quick second, "Uh, it's nothing dude."

"Um, alright," Sasha said.

Sasha sighed in relief and focused back on Hekapoo. "But yeah, that's my time in The Never Zone. You and I should head there soon and do a bit of training."

"Sounds good to me," Higgs said.

"Until then, let's get this float finished," Sasha said.

A few days had passed by, while the float was still being worked on, Eda continued reaching out to Hunter while Andrias continuously practiced using his drone.

The float was coming along well, as soon not only were Anne's friends working on it, but many people that were familiar with Anne's parents came by to help. Anne and her friends passed by Willowbrooke Mall to grab some lights, all the while Sprig tried keeping an eye out for some presents to get Anne and Ivy, though seemed dissatisfied with everything.

Star continued making progress with Moon, the woman coming to remember a few key things about her life, this revelation making Star a bit happier, knowing that things were slowly getting back to normal.

Andrias was still trying to figure out the control, even taking it to Earth to go for a test run.

"Seems like there's a lot of people all getting ready for their holiday, now where is Anne-" Suddenly the drone got knocked out of position by some pigeons. "OH NO!" He struggled to control it as it crashed through a billboard. "Ugh, I need to get better at these controls!"

Andrias grabbed a Zap-O-rade drink and chugged it down as he continued to practice. Nearby, Belos seemed a bit concerned for his ally.

"Pardon me Andrias, but you've been using this device almost non-stop for the last few days," Belos said.

"Well yeah, I have to get good at the controls so I can use this stupid thing to destroy Anne Boonchuy," Andrias said, grabbing some chips and scarfing them down. "Note to self, send robots to pick up more potatoe chips from Earth."

"Uh..." Belos wasn't sure what to make of this. "I will say, I admire your determination. But I am slightly concerned with how you are going about it."

"Hey, you want those kids out of the way or-MOVE!" Andrias tried moving the drone. "Curses! This controller isn't doing what I am commanding it too!"

"Perhaps it needs more work," Belos said. "Why don't you take a break? This cannot be good for your health."

"I'll take a break when I achieve perfection!" Andrias shouted as he focused on his drone. "None will get the better of me!"

"If you say so..." Belos said, awkwardly taking some steps back, glancing at Andrias. "His determination is admirable, but he severely lacks control. And I am not referring to his drone."

In Mewni, Star was in the caverns, glancing up at a monster encased in crystal. This was of course, Glogbor, the lover of Eclipsa.

"Wonder what you were like if you got a Mewman Queen to fall in love with you?" Star said, looking up at the monster. "Honestly, I was hoping I could free you one day so you could reunite with Eclipsa. Now, not only is she gone, your daughter is in the hands of an evil tyrant. He's going to raise her to hate Mewmans, and soon she'll be back to her monstrous self. Only this time, I don't know if I could win against her."

Globgor of course had no response, as he was encased in the crystal. Star didn't expect one, but venting her frustrations did help a bit.

"There's a lot that's changing about Mewni, after hearing about your love for Eclipsa, and how it was considered an act of defiance of sorts, I began to wonder...what was there to defy?" Star said. "I'm sure you were a really nice guy. Buff Frog helped show me that monsters can be good, and since Eclipsa is a nice lady, that means she found a good man, you."

Once again, no response expected, Star did wish he could talk but she wouldn't know what to say to any questions he may have.

"I wish I could do more for you, give you a chance to live happily in this world," Star lamented, the girl falling to her knees. "To give everyone a chance to be happy. I thought allowing monsters to live here would cause less divide, but it's actually causing more. What's it going to take to bring an end to this type of hatred?"

"Star?" Came a voice. The girl turned to see Gus making his way over, joined by Willow and Maddie. "Hey, you doing alright?"

"Yeah, I'm fine," Star said.

Maddie walked over, placing her hand on Star's shoulder as she looked up at Globgor, "That's one big fellow."

"Yeah, he is pretty big, isn't he?" Star asked. "That's Eclipsa's true love. Globgor."

"What's he encased in?" Gus asked.

"Crystal that Rhombulus made," Star explained. "So hard that only he can melt it with his abilities. There's no way to break it out."

"Wow, Rhombulus sounds pretty tough to pull that off," Gus said. "And there's no way to reverse it?"

"Not that I've discovered," Star said. "I can tell there's some leftover magic residue around. I think Eclipsa came by to free him at one point, but failed."

"So there's really no way to free him?" Willow asked.

"Not unless we find Rhombulus," Star said. "It might be pointless, even if I do free him, what am I freeing him to? His true love is dead, his daughter is being held captive, and monsters are still facing all types of prejudice and discrimination. At the same time, he shouldn't be prisoner, he's done nothing wrong."

"Well, Eclipsa can't be undone, but with his help, we can save Meteora," Gus said.

"Maybe your mom has an idea," Willow said. "Once we get her memory back-"

"No way, I can't let my mom know about this," Star interrupted. "Memory or not, if she finds out about Globgor, she'll totally freak out."

"But shouldn't she know?" Gus asked. "If you're going to give the crown back to her once she's able to rule again, she should know about Globgor."

"How do you even know?" Star asked.

"I discovered it a while back with Marco," Star said. "Look, just let me handle Globgor. Until then, as Acting Queen, I order you all to be duplicitous of my plan."

"...Where you reading a dictionary or something?" Maddie asked.

"Also, I'm pretty sure that word means the opposite of what you want," Willow said.

"Just let me handle this!" Star ordered. "Now, I gotta go talk to my mom, you three, don't say a word."

"Uh, alright," Gus said as Star made her leave. The boy looked up at Globgor, feeling a little worried. "I know he's probably nice but he still looks scary."

"Yeah, he does," Maddie said, the girl grinning sadistically. "Looks pretty badass."

At the Boonchuy residence, Anne had gathered her parents in the living room, the girl joined by Luz with King and the Plantars nearby. It was time for Anne to reveal another big secret, she just hoped that everything went well.

"Mom, dad, I have something I should probably say to you," Anne said.

"What's wrong? Is it that King again?" Oum asked.

"It's not that, it's something else," Anne said. "You two need to know about some friends of mine."

"Friends?" Bee asked.

"So you know how Luz and I are friends with Marco?" Anne asked. "And he's been hospitable towards us?"

"...You're not pregnant, are you?" Oum asked.

Anne's face turned completely red, "What!? No! Of course not! Marco's not even my boyfriend!"

"Or mine," Luz said.

"But...he is Marcy's boyfriend," Anne said.

"Marcy?" Oum asked. "Wait, is she pregnant?"

I hope not..." Anne muttered.

"What was that?" Oum asked, earning a worried reaction from Anne.

"Nothing...but my friends have something to explain to you," Anne said, opening the door.

Entering the house first was of course, Marco Diaz, the boy waving to the two. "Hi Mr. and Mrs. Boonchuy, you remember me, right?"

"Yes, the boy who allowed my daughter to spend the night at his house, one time without permission," Oum said.

"I take the blame for that, I should have reminded Anne to call you," Marco said.

"He's really good at reminders too," Luz said.

Oum rubbed her chin, still mistrusting of this boy, "Well, Anne also said you are dating Marcy. What is that about?"

"I can explain that part," next came Marcy Wu, her sudden appearance coming as a big surprise to the Boonchuy parents.

"Marcy!?" Oum said in disbelief.

"Hi, Mr. and Mrs. Boonchuy, it's been a long time, hasn't it?" Marcy greeted.

"I'll say," Oum said, going to check on the girl. "Are you alright? I haven't seen you in so long, you disappeared with my daughter."

"Sorry about that, that was kind of my fault," Marcy said. "I hope you weren't too mad at Anne."

"Your fault? How?" Oum asked.

"I got her and Sasha transported to Amphibia," Marcy said.

"It's true," Sasha greeted, the girl coming in next. "Hey Boonchuys. Been a while."

"Sasha..." Oum had less of a positive reaction to this girl. While she respects Anne's friendships, Sasha has been a bit of a troublemaker in the past.

"Wow, this is quite the reunion," Bee said. "So sudden too."

"They've been helping with the Christmas float," Anne said. "They plan to ride it too, so it was better that you knew now instead of Christmas Eve."

"Really cool of you to let Anne build it," Sasha said.

"Well, I almost didn't want to since you kids attracted a lot of trouble lately," Oum said. "But, Anne really talked me into it. Plus it would have made Luz happy too."

"Aw, you didn't have to do that for me," Luz said, the girl feeling joy in her heart.

"Lucky you, Luz," Marco said, offering a thumbs up.

"So...any other surprises?" Bee asked.

"Ahem..." Amity greeted, the girl waiting outside with Higgs. "We're here too just so you know."

"Right, the girl with the purple hair," Oum said. "Does your mother know you dye your hair?"

Amity's eye twitched briefly but knew that Oum meant no disrespect, "My mother loves it when I dye my hair." Technically not a lie and Amity utilized that advantage well.

"It's true, she does," Marco said.

"You need to know a few things," Anne said. "You know how I told you all about Amphibia?"

"Yes? We remember," Oum said.

"Every day," Bee said, gesturing to The Plantars.

"Right, and you also know how Luz does magic?" Anne asked.

"That I also remember," Oum said, her husband agreeing. "You mentioned being a witch in training."

"Yes, and I didn't train in this realm," Luz said. "I trained in The Demon Realm, in a placed called The Boiling Isles."

"My hometown, where I live," Amity commented.

"...You do witch magic too?" Oum asked.

"Of course," Amity showed off her ears. "I am a witch myself after all."

"...You're a witch?" Bee asked. "Aren't you supposed to be green? With a broom? And a hat? And a black cat?"

Amity furrowed her brow in annoyance, "Those are all stereotypes. And we use palismen, not brooms. They're far more efficient."

"Wait, this Princess who does magic, is she also a witch?" Oum asked.

"No, she's from a place called Mewni," Anne said. "She lives in a world that feels like a Fairy Tale book."

"A world I'm from by the way," Higgs said, the girl going inside and bowing. "I am Lady Higgs, a Knight of Mewni. I serve under Acting Queen, Star Butterfly."

"You're a knight?" Bee asked.

"Oh that's right, I forgot to mention," Anne said. "We're all knights."

"...You're what?" Oum asked.

"We all got knighted, though I'm thinking of giving it up because being knighted means living forever in Mewni, and I don't think I can handle that," Anne said.

"...What is going on!?" Bee shouted in confusion.

"Need me to start over?" Anne asked.

"Actually Anne...this is too much at once for us to handle," Oum said. "I'm glad you're being honest with us, but you don't need to be this honest with us right now. You're allowed to take baby steps."

"Oh, sorry about that, I just wanted you to be caught up, so you don't have any surprises," Anne said.

"Geez, if you're acting like this, how's my mom going to handle it?" Luz wondered.

"Probably just as bad," Oum said. "But I understand your hesitation even more now."

"Still, it is nice being in the loop, and now, there won't be any unwelcome surprises in the parade," Bee said.

"It sounds like you've all been helping," Oum said.

"Yeah, we want to do something fun for a change," Marco said. "This Christmas Palooza parade is the best way to go about it."

"It is," Oum said. "Thank you all for being part of it, and making my daughter happy. But, I am concerned about one thing, or rather two things."

"What's that?" Anne asked.

"Marcy, Sasha," Oum said. "Your parents don't know about either of you, do they?"

"They will soon," Sasha said. "Especially once the parade starts."

"...I hope so," Oum said. "I don't like that's so many kids who aren't with their parents, especially on Christmas."

"Yeah, honestly we should be calling the Wu Family and the Waybrights," Bee said. "It'd be irresponsible not to."

"If you call our parents, you're going to risk pulling them into something dangerous," Sasha explained. "Please let us handle this at our own pace."

"Whoa, that was a bit heavy, Sasha," Marco said.

"I'm just being honest," Sasha said. "Mr. and Mrs. Boonchuy, I know you're both responsible, but given the unique situation here, try to make some exceptions."

"My parents were cool with it, you can talk to them if it makes you feel better," Marco said.

"...Alright, but don't keep this secret too long," Oum said. "I mean it, if I feel like you are taking too long, I will tell them myself."

"I know you've been more than patient and understanding, and I really appreciate that," Anne said. "We'll do the right thing."

"Make it fast," Oum said.

"Well, we did what we needed to do," Marco said. "I'm going to head home."

"Same," Sasha said, using her scissors to step through a portal, freaking out Anne's parents.

"Oh right, we can totally do that too," Anne said, feeling worried once her parents' reaction hadn't changed from their shocked expressions. "Mom...? Dad...?"

The two sat there wide eyed and slack jawed, everyone feeling worried and irritated.

"Dammit Sasha..." Marco lamented.

Christmas Eve finally came, the Plantars were ready to drive the Thai Go Float to the parade. Of course, Anne and Luz were all there with their friends, ready to enjoy the upcoming festivities.

"Christmas Eve...so exciting," Luz said.

"Totally," Anne said, the girl brimming with excitement. "This parade's going to rock."

"It sure is..." Luz said, the girl blushing a bit. "And thanks for letting me be part of your Holiday."

"Totally," Anne said, placing her arm around Luz. "I'm happy to have you."

Luz felt even redder, the moment halted once Marco passed by the girls with his scissors. "Hey, I'm about to call Star."

"Awesome, we can introduce her to my parents," Anne said.

Marco noticed something unusual about Anne's hair, "Hey um...you got holly and candy cane stuck in your hair."

"Hm?" Anne looked up. "Didn't even notice. Looks better than leaves and twigs though."

"Not wrong there," Marco said, opening the portal. "Star! You ready!?"

Star peeked her head out, feeling nervous, "I don't know Marco, should I be away from my mom at a time like this?"

"Isn't she improving?" Marco asked.

"She is but..." Star felt unsure. "I just don't know if she's ready."

"Star, we did this partially for you," Marco said. "I know you're worried, but take the night to put that aside. Christmas is about joy, not sorrow."

"Can't Moon come?" Luz asked.

"Bad idea, she's still recovering from amnesia, and the parade could be overwhelming," Marco said.

"Good point," Anne turned to Star. "You don't have to come, but we would love your company."

Despite her hesitation, Star nodded her head in agreement, "Alright."

"Woo! Party time!" Janna said, stepping through the portal, taking everyone by surprise. "Whoa, awesome float. It doesn't look half bad."

"Janna?" Marco asked. "Dang, I nearly forgot about you."

"Wow, harsh dude, that kind of hurt," Janna said, smirking at Marco.

"Are you...are you being sarcastic or...?" Marco said in confusion.

Maddie showed up as well, leaping on Star's back, "I'm so ready for this!"

"Wait up!" Willow called.

"I'm coming too!" Gus said.

Marco seemed very appreciative of this, "Okay, the more the merrier."

"Got that right," Eda said, stepping through the portal. "Alright, time to have a little Christmas fun."

"You're not going to drink, are you?" Luz asked.

"Oh ye of little faith," Eda said.

"Anne!" Oum called. "Are you ready?"

"Oh yeah," Anne said. "Mom, meet our friends. Gus Porter, Willow Park, Eda Clawthorne, Maddie Flour and Star Butterfly."

"Oh, hello everyone," Oum greeted. "You must be Anne's friends."

"Hi, Mrs. Anne's Mom," Star greeted. "It's nice to meet you."

"You can call me 'Oum'," the woman said. "It's not my name, just my Thai nickname."

"Thai? Like suit and tie?" Star asked.

"No, it's my culture," Anne said. "I'm Thai, Marco's half Mexican, Marcy's Taiwanese, Luz is Dominican, Sasha's German..."

"But we're also full American," Luz said, doing a salute.

"I definitely remember the American part," Sasha said. "So many cultures."

"That's what makes it fun," Luz said. "Now let's hop onto that float, we got a parade waiting!"

Everyone agreed and joined in on the drive to the parade, each of them eager to take part of something special, unaware of Andrias and his plan.

At the annual parade, all the floats passing down the main avenue, from other businesses to other guests, including the family float of Echo Creek Cheerleader, Brittney Wong.

"Thank you all! So great to see you!" Brittney bragged.

Britta's Tacos also got a float, to which Sensei Brantley and Oscar piloted.

"This is so good for Holiday Business," Brantley said.

"Joy to the world, the lord has come..." Oscar said, then realized something. "Who's the lord again?"

"Ugh, do I need to lecture you on religion again?" Brantley asked.

The Thai go float passed through the streets, everyone on board throwing candy into the crowd as Hop Pop paraded as Santa Clause.

"HO HO, um...line?" Hop Pop asked.

"HO! Come on! You're supposed to be an actor!" Polly scolded.

"Merry Christmas!" Marco said, throwing some candy.

"Yes! Merry Christmas!" Star said, then spotted some familiar people. "Marco! Look! Our friends from school!"

"Huh?" Marco looked to the crowd, spotting some familiar faces. "Oh cool! Hey! Marcy! Anne! Amity! Luz! Check it out!"

"Some friends?" Marcy asked.

"Yeah totally, I can see Ferguson...and Alfonzo!" Marco said, the two cheering for their buddy.

"Looking great Marco!" Ferguson said.

"Yeah! Really great!" Alfonzo said.

"There's Starfan 13!" Star said, gesturing to the girl.

"I love you Star! Marry me!" Starfan shouted.

"Aw, that's cute," Star said.

Everyone else looked a bit weirded out, but made nothing of it.

"Here's some candy for you!" Marco said, throwing to the boys. "And for Star's biggest fan!" He threw some toward Starfan. "And too...YOU!"

"Huh?" Luz noticed a little kid. "Who's that."

"Jeremy Birnbaum! My archrival from Karate class!" Marco said, the boy sticking his tongue out at the teenager.

"...Marco, that's a little kid, how is he your rival?" Sasha asked.

"Simple, he's rich and annoying about it," Marco said. "Nothing I hate more than annoying rich kids."

"Good thing Amity turned over a new leaf," Gus said. "After she turned over plenty of Willow's leaves."

Amity glared at Gus for that comment, "Gee, thanks for the reminder of my scummy past!"

"Easy Amity, you're behind it, and that makes you a better person," Marco then glared at Jeremy. "Better than that little brat over there!" He ran to the edge of the float. "I hope Santa brings you a lump of coal!"

"I hope he brings you a better personality!" Jeremy shouted.

"How dare you! My personality is flawless!" Marco said.

"That why Jackie Lynn Thomas dumped you!?" Jeremy shouted.

Marco's eyes widened in annoyance, "That was a mutual break up!" He pulled Marcy beside him. "I got a better girlfriend anyway!"

"Marco, don't let him get to you, he's just a kid," Marcy said.

"She looks ugly!" Jeremy said, earning Marcy's wrath.

"What the hell did you just say to me!?" Marcy shouted.

"Whoa, Marcy almost never talks like that," Anne said.

"The power of a bratty little punk," Marco said.

"No more goofing around," Oum scolded. "Marco, don't yell at kids, even if they are bratty. Marcy, calm your temper."

"Yes ma'am," both said.

Sasha looked around with binoculars, "Ugh, where are there?"

"Something wrong, Sasha?" Bee asked.

"Yeah, I sent a letter to my parents asking them to come to the parade," Sasha said. "I thought they'd be here."

"You sent a letter? Why didn't you just call them?" Bee asked.

"I wouldn't know what to say, a letter seemed easier," Sasha said, the girl lamenting. "Doesn't matter, they're not here. Probably too ashamed to come and see me."

"Oh come on now, your parents wouldn't feel that way," Bee said.

"You have to say that because you're nice," Sasha said. "Anne's so lucky she has you and your wife, you both love her very much. Meanwhile I come from a broken family, one that probably doesn't care if I'm alive or not."

"Sasha..." Bee sympathized with her.

"Don't worry about it, if they don't come then who cares?" Sasha said. "All I care about is having your daughter as my friend. And Marcy, and everyone else. That's all that matters."

Bee glanced over at Anne, the girl looking so happy. As a father he was proud that his daughter had such a smile on her face. It made him pity Sasha more, no girl her age should feel this way on Christmas Eve.

Marcy had little luck too, while she didn't reach out to her parents, she did wonder if they were in the crowd. "Guess mom and dad aren't around."

"Are you ready to see them?" Marco asked.

"I might be, if you're by my side," Marcy said.

Marco took her hand, "Of course."

Anne threw more candy, happy to be part of this parade, "This is awesome, huh mom?" She looked to see her mother in tears, worrying the girl. "Mom, are you alright?"

"I'm fine, I'm just really happy to be part of the community like this," Oum said. "When your father and I moved here from Bankok, it was hard to fit in at first. That's why this parade means a lot to me."

"Wow, I never thought about you trying to fit in," Anne said, placing an arm around her mother. "I get it though, I felt the same when I ended up in Wartwood. That's why I'm so happy I can be here for Christmas with you."

"It is my pleasure," Oum said, placing her arm around her daughter.

Meanwhile Andrias was still flying around his drone, the King in his throne room now joined by Belos, Meteora, Kikimora and Ludo as a projection of the image was displayed on a screen.

"Where is Anne Boonchuy!?" Andrias shouted in annoyance. "At this rate, it will take a miracle to find her in this crowd!"

Seconds later, Anne appeared on the image while throwing candy, "I'm Anne Boonchuy! I'm Anne Boonchuy!"

"She's Anne Boonchuy!" Sprig said, gesturing to the girl.

"...Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that is Anne Boonchuy," Belos sarcastically commented.

"Do you enjoy being so smug?" Andrias asked in annoyance.

"It has its perks," Belos said, Meteora giggling at the exchange. "You find this entertaining, don't you child?"

"Empa!" Meteora said. "Empa!"

"What's she saying?" Ludo asked.

"I believe she is trying to say 'emperor'," Kikimora said.

"Smart young girl," Belos said.

"Still, this Holiday IS Familiar!" Andrias said, glancing at the decorations. "Glowing trees, Nut Smashers, red suited jolly man with a beard."

"I'm still on 'Nut Smasher'," Ludo said, giggling a bit with Kikimora as Belos rolled his eyes in annoyance.

"Oh grow up," Andrias said, glaring at the Robot Santa. "But I do have an idea."

Meanwhile still on the float, it was Luz's turn to goad, "I'm Luz Noceda! I'm Luz Noceda!"

"She's Luz Noceda!" King said.

Oum started to laugh out loud, "This is so great, I can't believe I almost missed out on all this fun!" She raised her arms. "I love Christmas so much!"

Bee grabbed his camera as Anne and the Plantars gathered around, "This is my perfect Christmas photo!"

"Ho...Ho..Ho..." everyone heard, turning to see a giant robot Santa coming after them. "Greetings Anne Boonchuy."

"Whoa, is that Santa!?" Polly asked, then noticed a laser gun come out of the Santa, aiming at them. "...Uh, so I take it that you don't like the store-bought cookies."

"Wait, I know that voice..." Anne said. "That's not Santa! That's King Andrias!"

The robot fires at the float, everyone making the decision to book it as the robot chased them on foot, destroying a few unlucky floats along the way.

"NO! MY FLOAT!" Brittney lamented. "Daddy spent so much money on this!"

Brantley also looked annoyed, "This is definitely not good for business."

The robot continued to chase the float as the crowd cheered, believing it to be part of the show.

"Do these people not realize it's dangerous here!?" Sasha asked. "I swear, LA is full of morons."

"Less hurtful comments, more focusing on the evil Santa!" Marco said as the others prepared magic.

Willow sent some vines to attack that the Santa eye lasered, then blocked some abomination magic along with some glyph attacks from Eda.

Luz sent some ice that the Santa barged through, much to her annoyance, "Dang!"

"I'm impressed Luz," Eda said, sending more glyphs. "You've learned how to use magic in the Human Realm, that's not an easy feat."

"Oh, thanks Eda," Luz said, sending more magic.

"Ally! Jess!" Polly called to the drivers. "Step on it!"

"But...giant robot," Ally said.

"Focus on that later!" Marco said. "Or we're gonna die!"

"R-right, punch it Ally!" Jess said, the float moving faster.

The robot Santa sent some flying fists at them, Amity blocking with her abomination magic as Star sent out some magic beams, ones that barely connected due to how rickety the float was.

"Hold on now, I have some nice presents for you!" Andrias said.

"Presents? Wait, hold your fire! Let's hear him out," Polly said.

"Polly, not the time!" King scolded.

Suddenly Andrias sent some explosive Christmas presents at them, Star immediately destroying three, with Marco kicking away the fourth into a nearby building.

"You double crosser!" Polly shouted, much to King's annoyance.

The rest of the group threw everything they could at Andrias, trying to slow him down, but it proved to be difficult as Andrias sent more attacks, even using a Christmas tree shaped shield to protect himself.

"HO! HO! HO!" Andrias boasted.

Belos looked almost impressed, "Wow, that's quite the show."

"I finally got them, Belos old buddy," Andrias said, focused on Anne. "You're all going down! No Merry Christmas for you!"

"Ugh...I freaking hate robots," Anne lamented.

Eventually Ally and Jess came to a dead end, now it was time for everyone to fight back, or risk getting destroyed.

"This fight's not over," Sasha said, pulling out her swords. "Come and get us!"

"You have your swords!?" Marco asked. "Wait, how did you hold them so well!?"

"I have my ways," Sasha said.

"Careful, that thing looks indestructible," Higgs said.

"Wish I had my growth potion," Maddie said. "I could take that thing on myself."

Anne looked around before spotting something, "Wait, I have an idea! Someone light that Christmas tree on fire!"

"Excuse me!?" Marco asked. "That's blasphemous!"

"It's either that or die!" Anne said. "Luz, everyone, keep him distracted!"

"No problem!" Luz said as she led a magical assault.

"Ha! Your feeble magic can't stop me!" Andrias said. "Technology always wins!"

"I resent that," Belos commented.

"It's just tough talk," Andrias said, focusing back on the others. "Give up and accept your loss! I promise to spare Marcy and Amity at least."

"Wait, why me now!?" Amity asked.

"Nothing you need to be concerned with," Andrias said.

Meanwhile Anne placed the tree in a cannon while Polly excitedly lit it on fire as Sprig aimed at the giant Santa.

"Hey! Andrias! Merry Christmas!" Anne taunted.

"Hey thanks, you too!" Andrias said, then realized what was happening. "Wait, NO!"

Hop Pop fired the tree and it lunged into the robot, and through the drone controlling the robot, destroying it and causing a massive explosion with fireworks going off.

Seconds later it began to snow, much to the surprise of everyone on the float.

"Is it...snowing?" Anne asked.

"Wow...it's a Christmas miracle!" Luz said, extending her arms. "I missed you snow."

Sprig however stuck his tongue out to taste it, immediately regretting it. "Actually it's ash."

"Oh, that makes more sense," Anne said, much to Luz's disappointed.

"Son of a..." Luz shook it off. "Eh, it's LA."

"Kid if you want snow, you can make it yourself," Eda said, giving Luz an idea.

Using a specific combination of glyphs, she sent a spell into the sky, creating a real snowfall, taking everyone by surprise once again.

"Whoa, Luz! This is amazing!" Anne said. "Looks like you're getting your White Christmas!"

"Yeah..." Luz said, then noticed the spell wrapping up quicker than she hoped. "Oh, guess not."

"Guess it's not meant to be, but you tried," Eda said.

"Thanks," Luz said.

In the Throne room, Andrias slammed his controller on the floor, "Stupid controller! I almost won too!" Andrias pulled out his sword and destroyed it more, everyone quickly leaving the room, not wanting to be around his frustrations.

"Let's leave Uncle Andrias to his tantrum for now," Belos said, tickling Meteora's stomach as he left an angry Andrias behind.

Back with Anne, the girl was wiping her head in frustration, "So much for that parade." She turned to her parents. "Mom, I'm sorry things turned out like this. Guess you were right."

"It's fine Anne, that was actually kind of fun," Oum admitted. "Going on adventure, facing danger, I can see why you enjoy hanging out with your friends."

"Wow...you're okay with her almost getting killed on a daily basis?" Marco asked.

"Dude!" Anne scolded.

"That, not so much, but Anne is a quick thinker, it makes me feel more reassured," Oum said. "I'm also happy she has good friends that are around to protect her."

"Of course, she means a lot to us," Marco said.

"Thanks, Marco," Anne said, briefly hugging the boy.

Spring grumbled in annoyance, "What a day. Is this normal for Christmas?"

"Not really, usually people are singing Christmas Carols, handing out gifts, and spending time with each other," Marco said.

"So, is that the true meaning of Christmas?" Polly asked.

"Well, sort of," Marco said. "Christmas is at its core a Christian Holiday, it's the day God's son was brought into the world. It represented a miracle of harmony that we continue to this day. Christmas in the end is about family, because it started with a family. The presents is just one way of spreading joy."

"So, finding the perfect present doesn't matter?" Sprig asked.

"It's the thought that counts," Marco said.

"Then I stressed over nothing thinking of something for Anne?" Sprig asked.

"Present!? Did you say Present!?" Anne asked, holding her hands out. "Gimme, gimme, gimme!"

Sprig handed over the present, "It's nothing really." Anne opened it, revealing it to be a wooden model of her, "I just wanted to do something nice, since you're my hero and all."

"...I was not prepared for this level of cute," Luz said, turning away. "I need a moment to register this."

"Aw, Sprig," Anne hugged the boy. "Thanks, I love it."

Marco looked on with a smile, the boy happy for Sprig and Anne, "Gotta love Christmas. The time of year here everyone can be happy and-"

"YOU!" Brittney marched over, glaring at Marco and the others. "Every time you're around, something weird happens! Way to ruin the Holiday for everyone you selfish bunch of jerks! Why don't you take your freakshow and..." Amity marched over to the girl, "What do you and your horribly dyed hair want you little-?"

Amity's eyes seemingly glowed read as she roared at Brittney with her Abomination behind her, also roaring and doubling the fear, causing Britnney to make a run for it.

"Whoa..." Marco said. "Amity was not messing around."

The girl passed by Marco, rubbing his head, "No one messes with my favorite guy."

"Uh, thanks," Marco said while blushing. He turned his attention to the Princess of the group. "Star?"

"Hm? Need something?" Star asked.

"Hey...I'm sorry if tonight was a bust for you," Marco said, Star shaking her head.

"No, it's fine, I had fun too," Star said. "I appreciate you all wanting to include me in your festivities. It helps me feel less alone."

"You're not alone at all," Anne said.

"Yeah Star, you have us, your friends," Luz said.

"We love you," Marco added. "We always will."

"Aw...you're all so sweet!" Star said, the girl tearing up. "I love you all too!"

"Group hug!" Marcy said, everyone wrapping around Star as Eda and the other parents looked on in glee.

"Anne's a great kid," Eda said, turning to the two. "Great job on raising her."

"Thank you, we get that a lot," Bee said.

"Which one is your kid?" Oum asked.

"The little furry guy," Eda said, gesturing to King. "I didn't give birth to him but he's still my son in every sense of the word."

"That's adorable," Oum said.

"Luz is like a daughter to me too," Eda said. "She's also a great kid. Makes me happy."

"Yeah, she is great," Bee said. "So...does this mean you're also a witch?"

"Sure am, I was once a very powerful witch, until some nonsense went down," Eda said. "But I still have my pride."

"That's good," Oum said.

"By the way, did she tell you about Belos?" Eda asked.

"I think so, friend of Andrias?" Bee asked.

"Yeah, they're allies, and he's pretty dangerous," Eda said. "I've been keeping an eye on Anne but you two need to be alert as well."

"We will be, thank you," Oum said. At the moment she was grateful for everything turning out alright.

"Oh hey, can someone take me to Wartwood?" Sprig asked. "I got something for Ivy too, I hoped she could come."

"She wanted to, but she needed to help her mother with some stuff," Maddie said.

"That's fine, I still want to spend a little time with her," Sprig said.

"I got you covered, "Sasha said, opening the portal, once again freaking out the Boonchuys.

"That is so weird" Bee said.

"You get used to it," Eda insisted.

The next day, Christmas had arrived, everyone was opening their presents. Marco and Marcy had exchanged gifts, Marco doing his best to keep Marcy's spirits lifted, given that she didn't find her parents.

For Marcy, all she cared about was being with Marco, and catching him with a kiss under the mistletoe, not that she needed one to get a kiss anyway, but it's something she took off her list of things she wanted to do in life.

At the Boonchuy residence, Polly seemed satisfied with what she got, including a ring that King gave her.

"Aw, you're so sweet King!" Polly said, hugging the little demon.

"It's nothing really," King said. "Just something I won in a game."

"Really? Which one?" Polly asked.

"Some weird slot machine that only cost a quarter," King said.

"Wow...a quarter? You must be really good at finding great deals," Polly said, putting it on. "I love it!"

Anne and Luz got their presents as well, but for them, the best part was just spending time with one another. Soon it would be with the others too as they planned to gather during the day at Marco's house, and return here for the evening.

"So, good Christmas?" Anne asked.

"Amazing Christmas," Luz said, turning to the girl beside her. "Thank you for being there for me."

"It's no trouble, thank you for sticking by my side," Anne said.

"I will admit, the only thing that could make this better, is if I could see my mother, just for a bit," Luz said. "But I know that might be tough."

"Says who?" Anne asked, holding out scissors. "It's no trouble at all."

"Well, there's still Vee," Luz said.

"I contacted her and asked if she could return to Mewni for a bit, she's due for a magical recharge anyway," Anne said. "This is my Christmas present to you Luz. Go say 'hi' to your mom again, and make sure you tell her how much you love her, and how much you appreciate her love for you." Anne glanced at her parents, "Because to kids our age, our parents' love is the easiest thing to take for granted."

"You're absolutely right," Luz said, glancing at Anne. "Gracias Amiga."

Anne took Luz by the hand, "Anything for you..."

Luz began blushing heavily, though as her eyes wandered, she just realized the two were under a mistletoe. "Wow..."

"Huh?" Anne looked up. "Wait, how long has that been there?"

Luz started to feel nervous, but she also saw this as a sign to just go for it. She only hoped there would be no regrets.

With little thinking, Luz pulled Anne into a very passionate kiss, taking the bushy-haired girl by surprise. Luz hugged Anne close, relishing in her moment as Anne slowly returned the affection that Luz gave to her.

After a few seconds, the two pulled apart, massive blushes on each of their faces.

"I...should see my mom," Luz said, taking the scissors and leaving. "I'll see you later."

"Yeah, see you," Anne said, the girl blushing a lot herself. "Guess Luz had a present for me too...best present I could have gotten."

Everyone had their chance to enjoy the holiday, momentarily free from their troubles, and above all, earned their right to have a very Merry Christmas.
