Multiverse: Starting with Mushoku Tensei

Chapter 10: Chapter 10: Sword Art Online

Is it really okay for a six-year-old boy to share a room with Roxy?

Rudeus silently complained to himself. He couldn't help but mock his older brother for being like a toad lusting after a swan. It was clear to him now—his brother had planned this all along. It must be in their shared bloodline, he thought bitterly.

Under Roah's sharp gaze, Rudeus reluctantly spoke up. "How about Big Brother shares a room with Roxy? My room is small and messy, but his is spacious enough for two people."

Paul hesitated, clearly conflicted. "But your brother is still a boy. It doesn't seem appropriate for him to share a room with a young lady."

"Big Brother is only six," Rudeus argued. "Roxy could easily think of him as a younger brother."

Paul glanced at Roah, who remained calm and composed. His doll-like face and serene demeanor seemed to reassure Paul.

Roah, sensing his moment, added, "If my younger brother doesn't want to, I don't mind sharing a room with Master Roxy."

Rudeus stared at his older brother in disbelief. He couldn't believe the sheer audacity of Roah, who had managed to push the decision onto him so effortlessly.

With his youthful, androgynous voice and angelic face, Roah's demeanor carried a deceptive innocence. Despite feeling a slight unease, Paul ultimately didn't see anything wrong with the arrangement.

After a moment of thought, Paul turned to Roxy, who was eagerly devouring her meal. "Roxy, would you mind sharing a room with Roah?"

Roxy glanced briefly at the delicate boy, too focused on her food to give it much thought. "I don't mind," she replied casually.

Hearing this, Roah's lips curled into a faint smile, though inwardly he was laughing triumphantly.

---

It wasn't until after dinner, when Roxy went to the room to rest, that she finally realized the situation.

Grabbing Roah by the sleeve, she asked in disbelief, "I'm sharing a room with you?"

Roah nodded, his expression as composed as ever.

Noticing her reddened face, Roah decided to explain. "My room is quite large," he said calmly.

Roxy looked at him for a moment, then sighed, resigning herself to the arrangement.

---

When she carried her luggage into Roah's room, she couldn't help but be pleasantly surprised.

The room was, as Roah had said, quite spacious. It was impeccably clean, with a wooden desk pushed against the wall and a simple chair beside it. Neatly arranged books filled the desk—mostly on magic theory and the world's history.

The floor was spotless, and the bed was meticulously made. A faint, pleasant fragrance lingered in the air, which Roxy realized matched the natural scent of the boy standing beside her.

Body scent? The thought crossed her mind unbidden.

"You must be tired from your journey," Roah said in his soft, youthful voice. "Please rest."

"I won't deny it; I am a bit exhausted," Roxy replied with a yawn.

Roah sat down at the desk, opening a book as though to study. In reality, he was experimenting with his World Capture feature.

The warm light of the candle illuminated his delicate face, highlighting his smooth golden hair and serene golden eyes. His expression was serious and focused, a stark contrast to other children his age.

Watching him, Roxy couldn't help but think, This boy… he really is different from other kids. He's so calm and reliable, like an adult in a child's body.

She began removing her magician's robe, her peripheral vision carefully observing Roah. She was ready to switch rooms if he even dared sneak a glance.

But Roah didn't move. He was completely absorbed in his book, as though unaware of her presence.

Roxy sighed, feeling a mix of relief and slight disappointment. Am I really that unattractive?

Little did she know, Roah's attention was entirely on the system interface.

[One-Star World Detected: Sword Art Online]

[Time Ratio: Current World to SAO = 4:1]

[World Coordinate Locked]

[Choose Entry Method:

1. Soul Projection (requires manual control)

2. Full Body Transfer]

[Note 1: If your soul projection dies, your soul will only be damaged. Full body transfer death is permanent.]

[Note 2: Soul projection rewards are partial. You cannot fully extract the world's benefits.]

[Note 3: Participation in the storyline increases Temporal Power rewards.]

[Note 4: This world is incomplete. Significant Origin Power may be required for stabilization.]

Roah pondered the options.

Soul projection split his soul into two, creating a proxy in the target world while keeping his main self in the current one. This allowed him to alternate between both worlds but came with the drawback of limited rewards.

Full body transfer, on the other hand, meant fully committing to the new world. While the potential rewards were greater, the risks were far higher.

Considering Sword Art Online was a relatively low-tier world, Roah decided full body transfer wasn't worth it.

"I'll go with soul projection," he decided, selecting the option.

---

Three identity options appeared:

1. Swordsmanship Apprentice: Slightly increases combat aptitude.

2. The Fool (Special): 'A Fool ventures forth with innocence and curiosity, unafraid of life's challenges.'

[Note 1: This choice slightly alters your personality. You will gain traits such as innocence, naivety, arrogance, stubbornness, and restlessness.]

[Note 2: Completing the world with this trait unlocks higher levels of The Fool.]

3. Student: Slightly improves learning aptitude.

---

Roah's brows furrowed as he read the descriptions. The Fool again?

Despite its quirks, The Fool was undoubtedly superior to the other options. Even at its first stage, it had greatly enhanced his magical abilities.

"I'll choose The Fool," Roah decided.

The moment he confirmed, his vision split. Part of his consciousness separated, giving him simultaneous access to two perspectives.

It was a surreal experience—managing two bodies at once, one in his current world and one in Sword Art Online.

In the SAO world, his "Fool" projection operated semi-autonomously, mimicking his behavior patterns unless he took direct control.

The time ratio of 1:4 also worked in his favor. His presence in SAO would progress quickly compared to his current world.

Roah smiled faintly. This was going to be interesting.
