Chapter 16: Hidden Missions, Darcie Malfoy, and Harry Potter!!!

Chapter Begins:
Ollivanders' Workshop,
Diagon Alley
Darcie sat in the workshop, surrounded by the logs of wand wood.
In front of her, on the table, was an 18-inch-long piece of wood, hovering midair. Its insides weren't wood, though. As per the Core Switching Method, Darcie had already switched the insides of the wand wood with the Dragon Heartstring.
What remained now was carving the wood, letting it take natural shape, along with inscribing magical spells and runes within it.
This was the step where Darcie failed every single time.
It wasn't like she didn't remember all the carvings by heart. Nor did she lack in magic. Instead, her magic was working against her. The work itself was too intricate and required years of practice for the most basic carvings, pairing them with the appropriate spells. With Darcie's overwhelming magic, carving the wand wood had become a real challenge for her.
Still, Wandlore remained one of the most sought-after knowledge for Darcie. If it was taking time, so be it.
Suddenly, a crack resounded within the workshop just behind the 11-year-old girl.
Lilith unfurled itself from Black's shoulders and shot toward Darcie, donning her under a yellow cloak.
Darcie, of course, ignored all this, focusing only on the carving.
With his eyes closed Black remained standing in one corner of the workshop with his back against the wall for an hour. The feelings kept bubbling inside him the moment he thought of acting in a certain way. Meanwhile, Ad Infinitum kept computing, trying to pinpoint the source of the feelings.
"Anytime now…" the AI beeped, reminding both Kai and Black.
After the Head Security Guard had gone, Kai had ended his Faceless transformation using Biokinesis and then disapparated right away.
The Goblins of course had taken the injured Hagrid and Professor Quirrell up.
As the Philosopher's Stone wasn't missing anymore, things would quiet down in an hour at most even if they didn't find the intruder, Kai knew.
Professor Quirrell, with the Dark Lord still attached to the back of his head, had left the Gringotts, but not without first being interviewed by the Daily Prophet's journalists.
Hagrid had also left with a crying and exhilarated Harry Potter. His face had kept scrunching from time to time as if he had been having an intense struggle to remember something.
I didn't act as Hagrid for the entire 24 hours… a feeling rose in Kai's heart. But, with Voldemort's involvement and his almost getting captured, the entertainment must have been enough.
Just as the thought took shape in Kai's mind, his eyes lit up with dull gray color of notifications.

Black's eyes lit up. Interesting… he thought, the Ad Infinitum inputting the newly found data along with him. So 1 Hidden Mission got counted as 10 Side Missions? How absurd...
Kai had always known that Hidden Missions were logic-defying in nature. In fact, they were so scarce to encounter that one could ascend an entire Set without ever getting one Hidden Mission.
Just 1 Hidden Mission granted him Attribute Points and a Title, meanwhile saving him years' worth of time.
Putting the Skill - Dark Mark for later, Kai concentrated on the next series of notifications.
If one Hidden Mission had already granted him so much, then what would the second Mission give him… when it was a grade higher?

Black smiled.
"They have already been to Flourish and Blotts," Darcie said, looking over her shoulder. "Mr. Black, aren't you smiling too much these days?"
Black's smile stiffened. "Can you not talk to me? It's weird."
Darcie giggled. "Alright, I will not talk to you... Mr. Black," she said, putting down the failed carving, "if you promise to buy me a full crate of cupcakes. Deal?"
Black merely sighed. "I will go first," he told Darcie, muscles already squirming under his skin. "Don't traumatize Harry Potter too much. He's already developing an inferior complex regarding you. I have… a feeling…"
Darcie's eyes squinted. "Very well," she said, nodding. "Two crates of cupcakes…"
"…?"

Hagrid and Harry left the bookshop and visited the Apothecary, which was fascinating enough to make up for its horrible smell, a mixture of bad eggs and rotted cabbages.
Barrels of slimy stuff stood on the floor; jars of herbs, dried roots, and bright powders lined the walls; bundles of feathers, strings of fangs, and snarled claws hung from the ceiling.
The timing of certain events had deviated because of Lord Voldemort breaking into Gringotts earlier than the original Timeline.
Instead of visiting Madam Malkin first, Hagrid had taken Harry to the Leaky Cauldron so that things could get quiet in the Diagon Alley. There he also penned a letter to the Headmaster, informing him about the intruder.
So, when Harry visited Madam Malkin after Apothecary, he didn't find Draco Malfoy there.
Once he was finished getting the uniform, outside the Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions, Hagrid checked Harry's list again. "Just Ollivanders left now — only place fer wands, Ollivanders, and yeh gotta have the best wand."
A magic wand… this was what Harry had been really looking forward to.
The last shop was narrow and shabby. Peeling gold letters over the door read -
Ollivanders: Makers of Fine Wands since 382 B.C
A single wand lay on a faded purple cushion in the dusty window.
A tinkling bell rang somewhere in the depths of the shop as they stepped inside. It was a tiny place, empty except for a single, spindly chair that Hagrid sat on to wait.
Harry felt strangely as though he had entered a very strict library; he swallowed a lot of new questions that had just occurred to him and looked instead at the thousands of narrow boxes piled neatly right up to the ceiling.
For some reason, the back of his neck prickled. The very dust and silence in here seemed to tingle with some secret magic.
"Good afternoon," said a soft voice.
Harry jumped.
Hagrid must have jumped, too, because there was a loud crunching noise and he got quickly off the spindly chair.
A young girl, taller than Harry by far, was looking down at him with her poisonous green eyes. She was wearing an emerald green-colored chiffon evening dress, its curls falling down her waist like trails of smoke.
She gave a flat look to Harry Potter and then looked up. "Hagrid," she called out, smiling. "I heard about the Gringotts. Are you alright?"
Hagrid smiled sheepishly. Just a few minutes ago he had badmouthed all wizards who had come out of Slytherin House. Moreover, Hagrid had been acquainted with her for years now, making him feel even more guilty.
The young girl giggled. "You are thinking too much, Hagrid," she said, ignoring Harry entirely. "Introduction?"
"Eh, right!" Hagrid shifted on his feet, shaking off the feeling. "I didn' find yeh in the bookshop," he explained hurriedly. "So I thought yeh gone ter home… Anyway… This is Harry. Harry, she's…"
But Harry had already gotten the gist of it.
From the Flourish and Blotts to the Apothecary shop. From the Madam Malkin's shop to the Ice-cream Parlour. Where Harry hadn't heard of her? Even in the Leaky Cauldron, the first name he had heard belonged to her…
"You are… Darcie Malfoy, aren't you?" Harry said, feeling astoundingly pressured for no reason.
Darice's smile vanished. She leaned down and looked at the lightning bolt-shaped mark on his forehead.
Harry couldn't help but take a step back, flustered.
"I've heard of you..." Darcie said, looking into the boy's green eyes, "... Harry Potter."
