Chapter 23: Haven of The Enlightened
Haven of The Enlightened
"Thanatos." The Arch Lich repeated its new name, its tone contemplative as if testing the words.
Christopher nodded.
"Indeed, that will be your name from now on. And starting from this moment, you are now my subordinate." Hearing this, Thanatos looked up at him before bowing his head.
"I will do my best to serve you, Master." Seeing this, Christopher nodded in satisfaction.
"Familiarize yourself with this dimension as it will be your home starting now." When he finished, he left the dimension and reappeared next to the others who were chatting excitedly.
"What's got you guys so excited?" Christopher asked curiously and Kim and the Twins looked at him with shining eyes.
"Master, you were so cool!" Kim said and the twins nodded quickly. Seeing their enthusiasm, Christopher just chuckled.
"I'm glad you think that way. Anyway, you guys should enter the Dimension, I'm gonna take this place in." At his words, they all nodded.
"You won't need help Master?" Silver ventured but Christopher shook his head.
"Nah. I got this covered." Seeing this, Silver just nodded and Christopher snapped his fingers and the four of them were teleported into his Dimension.
Christopher then looked up and rubbed his chin. The entire underground city was about the size of a standard town and when Christopher spread out his senses, he ascertained it to be roughly 300 square miles in total. Which was pretty impressive.
"System, if I take just the buildings, what would happen?" He asked the system.
[From a logical point of view, the buildings would collapse due to their original foundation no longer existing. However, if The Master desires, The system could arrange them in such a way that such a thing would not happen. That or The Master could just take the whole mountain.] Christopher rubbed his chin at this, however, he shook his head in the end.
"Nah, I'll just take the buildings and the corresponding land, unless I take in dwarves or something, there's no need for such a city." He voiced out.
[Affirmative.] The system did not argue and simply agreed.
Christopher nodded again and looked around before taking a breath.
"Alright, let's do this." He mumbled and crouched to place his hand on the floor. When he did, he spread his perception throughout the interior of the mountain and made sure he left nothing out. Buildings, paths, all of it.
And then with a thought, he transported all of it into his Dimension.
RUMBLE
Due to Christopher essentially taking out the interior of the entire mountain, it became hollow, and thus, it could no longer support itself.
Rocks started to fall from the ceiling of the now hollowed-out mountain as it rapidly started to collapse.
Seeing this, Christopher decided not to wait around and immediately teleported outside.
Not long after, the mountain and the floor around it collapsed inward. Christopher watched silently as the once proud mountain had been reduced to nothing more than rubble and dust.
"Well, that's gonna raise some brows." He thought and shrugged.
[Ding! New item detected. Would Master like the Ancient Teran City to undergo Enhancement?] Christopher didn't hesitate.
"Yes." When he gave the system the go ahead, he waited a few seconds before he received another notification.
[Ding! Ancient Teran City has been upgraded Into the Haven of the Enlightened.] Christopher smiled.
"Fancy name. Let's go check it out." And with a thought, Christopher once more appeared in his Dimension.
When he appeared, he caught sight of Kim, Silver, the twins, and Thanatos looking at something with awe. He followed their gazes and his eyes widened in amazement.
In front of them, was a city so magnificent it seemed unreal.
Just it's general direction seemed to have this enticing glow to it, and everything about it was equally as incredible.
The buildings seemed to be a mix of fantasy and Sci-fi, made with materials none of them had ever seen before with prism-like shapes. Some of them were so tall that they were easily miles long. There were domes, pyramids, skyscrapers, and some were even floating with stairs and roads being supported by nothing leading up to them.
"Beautiful." Kim mumbled absentmindedly, and she couldn't be blamed. It truly was beautiful, far more beautiful than anything any of them had ever seen.
"Master… we can… live in this place?" Umbra asked and swallowed and Christopher snapped out of his daze and a bright smile formed under his mask.
"Yup, this is all ours." He affirmed and everyone's eyes widened even more.
Thanatos was the first to speak.
"Master… you truly are incredible." The rest quickly nodded in agreement.
'I didn't really do anything.' He had an awkward expression, but his mask hid this. So instead, he just nodded.
"Thanks."
***
"Hello." The Receptionist about jumped out of her skin when she suddenly heard a voice despite not noticing anyone coming up to her.
She looked up and saw the enigma that had appeared not too long ago.
"A-Ah! S-Sir Dreamer. It's good to see you again." She cursed herself inwardly for stuttering so much.
"Likewise. Anyway I'm here regarding the mission I took earlier." Seeing him go straight to the point, the Receptionist took a breath to calm herself and became serious.
"Yes. It was the Undead subjugation mission correct? Is there any issue?" She asked and he shook his head.
"No, I simply wanted to turn it in." Hearing this, she blinked.
"Turn it in? As in… you've completed it?" She asked, her tone was of doubt and disbelief.
"Mhm." He merely nodded and her pupils trembled.
"But… you took that mission yesterday." She said and he nodded.
"Indeed." He nodded again.
Seeing him answer so casually, her heart began to palpitate.
"M-May I see the evidence?" She asked with a shaky voice.
Christopher just shrugged and brought out a small, black and purple crystal.
Immediately he did so, a dreary, dark Aura descended upon the room and everyone inside the guild building immediately turned towards the source and their eyes widened. Most weren't even aware that Christopher was there until just now.
Th-Thats's a Lich's Core!" The Receptionist exclaimed and Christopher nodded.
She gulped and forced herself to inspect it despite the terrifying Aura it was giving off.
"It's at least at the peak of the Lord rank!" She exclaimed and her words immediately caused a commotion among those looking on.
"Is that Sufficient?" Christopher asked calmly and the Receptionist snapped out of her daze.
"Yes… yes yes! More than enough. Please, give me your card so that I can issue your reward." She said with a bright smile. She knew it before, but now her resolve was strengthened even more. So would do everything in her power to satisfy such a big-shot.
Christopher nodded and gave her his Adventurer's card which she went away for a bit with before returning.
"There, 1000 Gold coins have been transferred to your wallet." She said with a smile and Christopher nodded.
"Thank you."
"Is there anything else you would like?" She asked and Christopher shook his head.
"Alright then." She nodded in return and Christopher turned around and left the building under the gazes of the many adventurers.
When he was outside, he looked up and noticed that it was only a little past noon.
'Hm, I have time to burn. What should I do?' He pondered. He didn't really need to find a place to stay since he had his Dimension, and there was still some time until he had to go and train Titus.
'Should I train myself?' He thought and gradually became fond of such an idea.
He was quite skilled, but he still lacked experience.
'And I have the perfect place to do so too.' He thought with a smile.
His Dimension was far more durable then any training room he could find now, plus, with the time dilation, he could spend twice as much time in there as he would outside. Not to mention, he had five perfectly capable subordinates who would be more than willing to train with him.
As such, he couldn't help but get a bit excited, and his weapon Scarlet felt his fighting intent.
'Are we going to fight Master?' It asked and Christopher nodded.
'Yup.' Then, he activated the effects of his mask to max and vanished into his Dimension, not a single person noticing something amiss.
***
"You want all of us to spar against you Master?" Silver asked with bright eyes and Christopher nodded.
"That's right, there isn't much to do, so I thought training would be the most efficient thing to do at the moment. And you all are fairly capable, so sparring is what I decided." Hearing this, everyone looked a bit excited.
"So, we get to go all out Master?" Chiara asked.
'Can we?' Christopher asked the system.
[Yes.] It's response was quick and concise.
"Yes." Christopher echoed and the Twins grew even more excited.
"Master, if I may." Thanatos suddenly spoke and they looked at him.
"To be honest, even with our strength, I doubt we have a chance to defeat you, so maybe you should give us a challenge. To make us do even better?" Hearing this, Christopher thought about it.
'A reward to make them fight with even more vigor huh? Doesn't sound Like a bad idea.' He nodded and looked at them.
"Very well, anyone who manages to land a clean hit on me, will have me personally construct the region of the Dimension they've chosen as their abode."
