My Girlfriend is an Evil Woman

Chapter 39 - Unforgivable

“What do you mean by seven bowls of ramen?” Fukuzawa Fuyumi asked, a little confused. She hesitated before continuing, “Is it because that pretty boy comes from a ramen shop, and after my sister defeated him, she ate up all the ramen in his house? Or did she steal seven bowls of ramen as a trophy? It does sound like something my little sister would do…”

Yukari scratched her head and laughed apologetically, “I originally wanted to catch up and defeat him honorably to save my sister’s face. But, I couldn’t win…”

Haruna, who had been expressionless, showed a slight surprise on her face. “Couldn’t win?”

She found it hard to believe. She knew Yukari-nee strength very well. At the age of three, she chased chickens; at five, she fought dogs; at seven, she had a fifteen-game winning streak against other kids; at ten, she was the neighborhood child king, and all the other kids bowed their heads in front of her. At fourteen, after her body began to develop, even drunken men would avoid her and change their path. How could such a capable and strong sister lose?

Yukari’s expression turned serious as she nodded, “That man is incredibly strong. No wonder he could make my sister cry. If I had fought him, I might have been killed. I scoured the five nearby streets, and he’s the most tenacious man I’ve ever encountered. He’s nothing like the so-called pretty boys my sister mentioned!”

“Pretty boy?” Haruna pondered. Was it the pretty boy her sister kept complaining about at school? Was he the one who made her sister cry today?

She remained calm as she thought about it, while Fukuzawa Fuyumi’s face turned even darker. She reached out to Haruna, “Give me a stick. I can’t take it anymore. Today, I’ll teach her a lesson! No one can stop me!” Being beaten and crying at school was already miserable enough. If she had to suffer the same at home from her younger sister, what was this? Why did she have such bad luck with a sister like this?

Haruna gently held Fuyumi’s hand and said calmly, “Onee-san, calm down for now… Yukari-nee, what’s the deal with the seven bowls of ramen?”

Yukari chuckled and patted her stomach. “After our duel, I was starving, and he invited me for ramen. At that moment, I thought to myself that since he made my sister cry, I had to get revenge. So, I ate heartily, eating up seven bowls! But the guy remained unfazed, showing great tolerance like a towering mountain near a deep abyss. His sword technique seems to involve multiple schools, and he adapts it skillfully. He’s full of fighting spirit, tenacious in style, never repenting even when temporarily disadvantaged, and has a true warrior’s spirit. I admire him, a true iron-blooded man!”

Her expression turned serious, and she said earnestly to Fuyumi, “Onee-san, it’s not unjust that you lost.”

Fukuzawa Fuyumi’s face turned as dark as ink, and she slowly retorted, “Firstly, it’s ‘mastery,’ not ‘canned goods.’ Stop thinking about food all the time! Secondly, if you don’t know how to use idioms, just use them less. Are you aware that you’re a dimwit? Thirdly, our family might have to spend an extra 2.5 million yen because of him. He should take at least half of the responsibility. And you come back here after eating his cheap ramen and speak up for him? Where’s your brain? Lastly… I… didn’t… cry… because of him!”

After she finished speaking, she reached out her hand to Haruna, who silently handed her a rolling pin. Without hesitation, Fuyumi raised it and charged towards Yukari. She struck her on the buttocks, shouting in anger, “You’ve been out having fun, not doing your chores, and neglecting the household! You’ve been out having fun, not doing your chores, and…”

After a while of chaos, Fuyumi angrily threw the rolling pin away and said, “Take out the trash and leftover food, then come back and clean the hall. If I find a speck of dust, I’ll really beat you!”

Yukari covered her buttocks, hung her head in dejection, and muttered some complaints like, “kindness is met with evil.” Fuyumi’s anger surged again when she heard that and chased after her, kicking her buttocks and shouting, “Hurry up! Are you going to wait until morning?”

Haruna poured a cup of tea and gently advised, “Onee-sama, don’t get mad at Yukari-nee. Even though you didn’t say it, I know you’ve been worried that something might happen to her. When Natsuo said she got kidnapped, you scolded her too, right?”

Fuyumi took a sip of tea to calm herself and sighed, frowning with frustration, “I was scolding her for talking nonsense. Our family isn’t lucky enough to experience something like that… She eats so much that she could attract mice to our house. Who would be crazy enough to kidnap her?”

“She’s still growing, so it’s normal to eat more…” Haruna tried to reason.

Fuyumi sighed again, her little face full of distress. “Our savings are getting less and less, but she keeps eating more and more. Growing? If only she could grow some brains too. It seems like she hasn’t grown any brains since she entered middle school…”

Haruna remained silent. It’s true that second sister is growing taller but not gaining much in the way of intelligence. In three years, she’s only grown two centimeters taller.

Looking at her sister, who was now slightly shorter than herself, Haruna couldn’t help but feel a little sorry. With their mother gone, most of the responsibilities of the household fell on her sister’s shoulders. With such a heavy burden to carry, it’s no wonder her sister couldn’t grow taller.

She also took a few sips of tea with Fuyumi. Fuyumi rubbed her waist and stood up, saying somewhat weakly, “Forget it, there’s no hope for her to contribute to the household. Actually, her food expenses aren’t that much. It’s just that now that everyone in the family is in school, our expenses have increased significantly, and we’re really tight on money. Oh? Haruna, don’t worry, we still have money… How are the preparations for tomorrow’s side dishes?”

She noticed she was complaining a bit too much and didn’t want to affect her sister’s mood, so she quickly changed the topic. Haruna helped her up, “It’s almost done. Onee-sama, you don’t need to worry about these things. I’ll take care of it.”

Fuyumi patted her sister’s hand and said with some self-reproach, “I hope I’m not taking up too much of your time, and that it’s not affecting your studies. Staying up so late and still managing at school during the day, are you coping well?”

“I’m fine, but Onee-sama, what about you…”

Fukuzawa Fuyumi firmly said, “I’m fine. I’m doing well at school!” Then she turned and walked towards the hallway, “Alright, Haruna, you should rest early too. I’ll go back to doing laundry. Put the meal you prepared for second sister in the fridge and let her have it tomorrow night. Don’t waste it.”

“Yes, Onee-sama.” Haruna replied, but as she watched Fuyumi’s back, she noticed that despite her young age, she was already supporting her waist while walking. She couldn’t help but feel a pang of heartache. She hesitated and called out softly, “Onee-sama!”

Fukuzawa Fuyumi turned in surprise, “What’s the matter?”

“The thing I mentioned last time, about wanting to take a year off from school…”

“No way!” Fukuzawa Fuyumi’s expression immediately turned stern, and she scolded loudly, “Our family can still manage. You should go to school if you need to. Don’t think of such crooked ideas. Even if someone has to take a leave of absence, it should be me, not you. Understand your place!”

Haruna was scolded but her expression remained unchanged, she just lowered her head and said, “I’m sorry, I understand, Onee-sama.”

Fukuzawa Fuyumi also knew that Haruna’s intentions were good. She looked a bit regretful at her reaction and wanted to say something more, but being someone who doesn’t know how to speak sweetly, she couldn’t find the right words. She just waved her hand and went to do the laundry – the food industry had high standards for cleanliness, and with so many children in the house, there was always a lot to do.

Haruna then went to the kitchen to tidy up. After packing the cut vegetables and putting them in the fridge, she leaned against the fridge door, lost in thought.

Onee-sama must be very tired. Although she joined a club to improve her student resume, she usually rushed home after school to help with the restaurant’s business. She hardly had time to participate in club activities and would be busy until closing time. Then she would do some household chores, yawn while studying, and likely end up falling asleep on her desk… Such a kind sister, and she was bullied at school? Was the person who bullied her even human? Was it that so-called small white-faced person whom Onee-sama scolded at home?

Haruna didn’t want to tease her playful second sister and keep reminding Onee-san of the incident, so she avoided the topic. However, that didn’t mean she wasn’t angry.

Although Onee-sama’s anger towards the person who didn’t pass the exam might be unjustified, hurting my Fukuzawa Haruna’s sister was absolutely unacceptable!

It’s absolutely unforgivable!
