MY LIFE IN THE FORGOTTEN WORLD!

Chapter 13: JARON 1

(One year ago)

(Jaron's POV)

It was an ordinary boring day in my life.

I was walking among the trees at midnight, hunting as I usually did every day, but suddenly I heard the sound of a child screaming.

"Help! Please help me! There is a wolf that wants to eat me."

What kind of foolishness is this? Screaming like that in the middle of the forest, do you want to attract all the animals towards you?

Nevertheless, I headed towards the sound and saw him.

Although the wolf was on top of him and trying to eat him with all its might, he did not give up and continued to fight for his life.

I raised my bow and shot an arrow at the wolf, piercing its head.

Whoosh!

I moved forward, took my arrow, and continued my way, but the boy kept following me.

'This is annoying.'

I thought as I looked at the boy who talked a lot.

"My name is Kaden Mort, what's yours?"

'Kaden Mort? What a cursed name.'

"Jaron, my name is Jaron."

The boy seemed happy when he heard my name.

After that, he fell silent. I did not ask the boy where he came from or what he was doing in the forest or anything because it was none of my business. I planned to take him to the city with me and return home to continue my daily life.

But when we arrived in the city, he started begging me to let him stay at my house for one day.

'What a nuisance.'

I allowed him to stay at my house because he was injured and tired.

That day, I left the city to get myself dinner, and when I returned, I did not find the boy.

It was raining heavily, so I did not think the boy had left in this weather, especially since he was so exhausted.

So I started following his tracks in the rain.

His tracks stopped at the gate of the house. I deduced that he might have been kidnapped.

'Perhaps that gatekeeper gave information about the boy being from the forest.'

"The forest inhabitants" were mentioned in legends 700 years ago. They found one or two people in the center of the forest.

The center of the forest is a place full of strong monsters, and a human being able to live there is a miracle, so they called them the forest inhabitants.

It is said that they have strong bodies that can break rocks with their bare hands without mana, incredible speed that the eye cannot keep up with, and a huge amount of mana enough to cover the whole city.

But in our current era, none of the forest inhabitants have been found.

'Except for one.'

I followed the tracks and reached a house in the east of the city and knocked on the door.

When one of the people opened the door, he was saying words, but I didn't hear them because I hit him in the face and sent him flying.

I entered inside, and as soon as I entered, the boy shouted my name.

I did not look at him but instead looked around the house and saw what the boy had done by himself.

'Taking down one man and injuring another is not bad.'

I praised the boy a little and looked at an armored man who seemed strong from the first glance.

Suddenly, he pulled out a giant sword from the void.

'A storage ring! This will be useful.'

After finishing my fight with the armored man, I took the storage ring and started walking back to my house.

But before I could continue, the boy shouted at me. I did not look back, but I stood still to hear what he had to say.

"How can I become strong like you?"

"Are you sure this is what you want?"

I asked him this question to know if this was really what he wanted.

'You want to be like me? Oh boy, I am not someone anyone would want to be like.'

I thought as I looked at the boy, who was deep in thought because of my question.

"Teach me."

"What?"

"Teach me how to survive in this world."

I heard his answer and was a little surprised because I remembered a memory from a long time ago.

"Alright, that's fine."

I continued my way while still thinking about that old memory.

The next morning, I took the boy with me to the forest to start teaching him.

But there was a big problem.

I had never taught anyone in my life, so how was I going to teach this boy?

I started by explaining some concepts to him that he seemed not to know at all, like mana.

'What is this? How does he not know even the simplest things?'

I asked him to sit down to start training on mana, but even after a long time, he made no progress, so I wanted to see what the problem was.

I placed my hand on his back and started examining his body's condition, but I was shocked by something I had not seen in my 54 years of life.

His body was devoid of mana, not possessing even a drop of it.

I had heard in legends more than 1000 years ago about people who had no mana, but it was just legends. All living beings possess mana, even the small grass we are sitting on now has mana.

'I don't know how this boy will be able to survive.'

I predicted that this boy would not be able to survive for a long time.

Because mana is what allows you to do everything, it gives you extraordinary strength to deal with monsters and enhances your senses to be able to detect, and even people who are skilled in controlling it can create fire, water, and all elements and use them in different ways.

I tried to encourage him, but it seemed he did not care much about the matter, maybe because he did not realize the situation he was in now.

And then the training began.
