My Perfect Apocalyptic Life

Chapter 32 - It Doesn’t Make Sense; Isn’t She Afraid of My Complaint?

Meng Xu smoothly arrived at the Bureau of Commerce.

Along the way, he encountered several particularly enthusiastic zombies. Meng Xu greeted them all, granting them each an infant-like sleep.

After all, besides infant-like sleep, Meng Xu couldn’t bear to give them anything else.

After all, Chairman Meng was still in the early stages of his startup, and frugality was key.

Lead by example!

With these thoughts, Meng Xu stood at the entrance of the Bureau of Commerce, looking at the zombie in the security booth from yesterday. He approached and knocked on the glass.

“Roar!”

The zombie in the booth seemed agitated, banging its head violently against the glass, trying to break through and take a bite out of Meng Xu.

It looked very irritable.

No wonder this zombie was in a bad spot, trapped in the security booth with no way out.

“Crash!”

Suddenly, the sound of breaking glass echoed as the elderly security zombie shattered the glass and lunged out of the booth.

Despite his face being covered in blood and his body being slashed by the broken glass, he bravely and fearlessly charged towards Meng Xu.

Seeing this, Meng Xu raised an eyebrow, took up his wrench, and sent the zombie into a perfect sleep.

Brains splattered, and blood flowed.

Wiping the blood from his hand, Meng Xu calmly walked through the gate.

Meng Xu didn’t know the exact time the zombie crisis broke out, as he was sleeping. But he could roughly deduce that it was early four o’clock in the morning.

In the early morning hours, most companies were less populated.

This was a government office, naturally offering more humane working conditions compared to private companies. In the Kechuang Building, customer service employees worked in shifts, but here, besides a few duty personnel, there wouldn’t be many people.

But now that he is here, what should he do?

Standing in the empty hall, Meng Xu was momentarily at a loss.

He’d never been here before.

“Guess I should find someone to ask.”

After a moment of thought, Meng Xu decided to call out.

He walked aimlessly through the building, shouting as he went, “Is anyone here? Anybody here? I’m here for some business. Is anyone around?”

The empty corridor echoed with Meng Xu’s words, and in response, a commotion erupted in the distance. The sound of bottles and jars toppling over reverberated, creating a scattered noise.

Something seemed very agitated in the distance.

Taking a deep breath, Meng Xu quickly reached the business counter and found a uniformed zombie on the other side, its back turned towards him. The zombie occasionally twitched and let out low, unintelligible growls, appearing rather creepy.

Ignoring this, Meng Xu sat confidently on the chair in front of the counter, knocked on the partition glass, and kindly brought the microphone closer.

“Hello, I’m here to handle some paperwork. What do I need to do?”

The sound traveled through the microphone into the booth, instantly making the zombie inside alert. It turned sharply, revealing a grotesque face, and immediately began pounding on the glass wildly, trying to tear Meng Xu apart from the other side.

“Roar!”

Completely unfazed by the growls, Meng Xu seriously addressed the zombie at the counter, “Hello, I’m here to handle some paperwork. Do I need to fill out a form first?”

“Roar!”

“Hello, do I need to fill out a form first?”

“Roar!”

“Are you there? Can you assist me? Should I start with the form?”

“Roar!”

“……”

Meng Xu frowned, watching the relentless zombie clerk slamming itself against the glass. He thought to himself, “It doesn’t make sense; isn’t she afraid I’ll file a complaint?”

Isn’t she afraid I’ll call a hotline and complain about the entire department for treating a taxpayer like this?

It doesn’t add up.

Failing to handle the normal needs of a customer—such work ethics are infuriating!

Meng Xu felt deeply disappointed by these unmotivated zombies.

But it was somewhat understandable.

After all, across the country, the most motivated individuals are probably those found in games.

Why?

Because only in games can you see people being urged to find a job every day.

Even while gaming, they are constantly thinking about work!

If such people aren’t considered motivated, then who is?

“Roar!”

The zombie clerk continued to growl, making Meng Xu increasingly impatient. He glanced at the phone number posted on the wall, then skillfully picked up his phone and dialed the number.

“Beep… beep… beep…”

After a brief ring, Meng Xu could hear the desk phone inside the booth ringing: “Ring ring… ring ring…”

Seeing this, Meng Xu sighed deeply. “Seems like I have to handle this myself.”

With that, he walked over to the counter, finding the door slightly ajar. The zombie was too dumb to realize it could just walk through.

Without hesitation, Meng Xu pushed open the door and entered. The zombie clerk, hearing him, immediately lunged. Meng Xu skillfully raised his wrench and struck it down repeatedly until the zombie was finally dead. Only then did he stand up and start rifling through the counter.

What should he do?

He wasn’t sure, but he had his phone.

Applying his immense intellect, Meng Xu used the “Baidu” function on his phone. After a quick search, he understood what to do. He rummaged through the folders on the counter and found a form. Taking it seriously, he began filling it out with a pen.

Name, ID number, company name…

Meng Xu filled in all the necessary information, double-checked for errors, and placed the completed form in an obvious spot. Then he turned to the now thoroughly beaten zombie.

“Hey, I’ve filled out the form and left it here. When you wake up, make sure to process it for me, thanks.”

【Registration step completed. Stage rewards received: Freely Allocatable Career Experience +10, Freely Allocatable Attribute Point +1, Freely Allocatable Skill Point +1, and Yuan +10,000.】

Looking at the golden text before him, Meng Xu was very pleased.

Excellent! There’s a rewards to be claimed as well!

He still had to visit the Housing Management Bureau, Public Security Bureau, Technical Supervision Bureau, Tax Bureau, and the Bank Housing Bureau, Police Department, Technical Supervision Bureau, Tax Bureau, and Bank, which meant…

Hiss!

Meng Xu drew a sharp breath, realizing the possibilities.

He felt like he was about to hit the jackpot!

“Allocate points!”

Without hesitation, Meng Xu increased his Strength from 15 to 16 points.

As for his accumulated career experience points, Meng Xu now had 16 points.

Both Intern Clerk and Leaflet Distributor needed 20 career experience points to upgrade, while the chairman required 50 career experience points, so the experience points couldn’t be used for upgrades just yet.

The skill point, on the other hand, left Meng Xu a bit puzzled.

His skills were all tied to professions and couldn’t be actively upgraded with the skill point. Meng Xu really didn’t know what this thing was for.

“Never mind; the bank is next door. I might as well withdraw some money and complete the bank task first.”
