Chapter 11: Chapter 11 Annoyance Turns to Rage
Seeing this scene, her colleague behind her shouted in panic, "Captain Lin! Don't!"
But she still pulled the trigger; because by then her body was ruled by anger, she could not tolerate Lin Yifan, a despicable man who dared to commit a crime but not face the consequences.
"Bang!"
A bullet shot out quickly, heading straight towards the target.
Lin Yifan had already sensed the impending danger and moved aside a second earlier.
However, just as he moved his head, a bullet whizzed past his ear; he even heard a ghastly, howling sound of tearing through the air, which was extremely frightening.
It was terrifying, truly terrifying, Lin Yifan never expected the other party to shoot; the other party was a "tea server," how could she do such a thing, it was too illegal.
After firing the shot, Lin Shanshan realized she had made a grave mistake. But now, there was no turning back, she could only pray that Lin Yifan wasn't hit.
"Please don't get hit! Please don't get hit!"
While praying tremblingly in her heart, she secretly opened her eyes a bit, to observe the situation ahead.
Peering through the small slits of her eyes, she found no one in front and didn't know whether Lin Yifan had been taken down or had run somewhere else.
Then, she opened her eyes completely, quickly scanned the ground, and after not finding Lin Yifan's body, she looked to the side and immediately saw a man with a terrified face.
The man, with a face full of terror, roared at her when he saw her looking, "Are you insane? Do you realize you've broken the law?"
"Aren't you still alive? So I haven't broken the law."
Lin Shanshan felt extremely lucky at the moment, she had gotten quite a scare earlier and thought she had committed murder, ruining her life from then on, but unexpectedly, Lin Yifan, this incredible person, actually managed to dodge her bullet. It seemed his reflexes were terrifyingly fast.
In her understanding, only a person constantly prepared for combat could possess such sharp reflexes, which made her even more curious about Lin Yifan's identity.
"Unreasonable."
Lin Yifan gave these four words to evaluate Lin Shanshan's current mindset and her words.
Lin Shanshan, unconcerned, snorted, "Hmph! Now you know what I'm capable of, don't you? If you do, then surrender quietly."
"If you have the guts, come and catch me! I'll see if an unintentional collision will land me in jail!"
Lin Yifan, having a clear conscience, was not afraid of his shadow being crooked, for he really hadn't done it on purpose, no matter how the other party accused him or how harshly they tortured him, they couldn't send him to prison.
"Awen, handcuff him and bring him back to the police station."
Regardless of whether they could convict Lin Yifan or not, the first step was to arrest him and teach him a lesson, to show him her capabilities.
"Yes! Captain Lin!"
The little Wen behind her breathed a sigh of relief, he really had been scared to death; if Lin Shanshan had committed murder, they couldn't have helped her.
"Click!"
The handcuffs were locked on, and Lin Yifan hadn't expected he would become the first one to wear handcuffs. It was both ironic and speechless.
Seeing Lin Yifan so pitiable, An Qi, holding no grudges, curiously asked, "Mister, do you need a lawyer? I can get one for you."
"Thanks, but I, Lin Yifan, have done nothing to hide, and I reckon this little woman can't press charges against me," Lin Yifan replied.
An Qi's kindness annoyed Lin Shanshan, who then questioned, "Beauty, why would you defend such a pervert?"
"He saved me."
Although it was just a simple four-word response, it countered Lin Shanshan's question effectively.
Lin Shanshan felt surprised and began to see Lin Yifan in a new light.
"Did he overpower these two men in black?"
The two men in black lying on the ground with their hands bound were muscular and strong. She wasn't sure if she could overpower them one-on-one, let alone two of them, and furthermore, they had guns; so hearing that Lin Yifan had saved An Qi truly shocked her.
"Yes!"
An Qi confirmed with conviction.
"Holy shit, who exactly are you? What's your identity?"
Lin Shanshan, normally so high-browed, couldn't help but curse, thoroughly shocked.
"Do I need to tell you?"
Lin Yifan rolled his eyes, not wanting to bother with Lin Shanshan, the brash and brainless police officer.
"You think I'm dying to know? Hmph! Take him away! Take everyone away!"
Lin Shanshan was furious, ordering her subordinates to take everyone present back with them.
"Tsk!"
Lin Yifan scoffed, fearlessly defiant.
After Lin Yifan and the two kidnappers were taken into the car, Lin Shanshan led her team back to the police station.
Before leaving, she instructed An Qi to send the unconscious Assistant Li to the hospital for treatment and then come to the police station to provide a statement.
An Qi knew what to do, and so they went their separate ways.
Back at the police station, seeing that the light in her boss's office was still on, Lin Shanshan, fueled by curiosity, went upstairs, knocked gently on the door, and asked, "Chief Zhao, are you in there?"
"I'm here, you are..."
"It's Shanshan!" Lin Shanshan identified herself.
"Ah, Shanshan! What brings you here?"
"Nothing much. I saw the light in your office was on, so I was curious to see what you were up to," she explained.
Lin Shanshan's heart raced with excitement, as there were few men who called her by her name, and it was too sweet.
Upon hearing her reason for coming, the man in the office invited her, "Come in then!"
Without a second thought, Lin Shanshan opened the door and entered.
She saw a man in a police uniform, illuminated by the bright light, poring earnestly over documents.
His brows were furrowed, and he seemed displeased, as if he was facing some difficult problem.
"Chief Zhao! Why haven't you gone home at this late hour?" Lin Shanshan stepped forward, asking with curiosity.
That time was well past working hours, so she was genuinely curious.
"There's a murder case that's been troubling me. I need to sort out my thoughts and solve it as quickly as possible to give the victim's family some justice," Zhao Dabing answered, "By the way, why are you still working?"
