My Sisters are Strange

Chapter 53

“How does Daisy know Sir Theodore?”

Iris’ face was full of bewilderment as if she had seen an unbelievable situation.

Theodore answered the question.

“I am her friend.”

A look of astonishment came over her face at Theodore’s words.

“Y-You said no when I asked you to be my friend.”

“Didn’t I tell you that I don’t want to be friends with people who relentlessly chased me to the point of getting in the way of training?”

Theodore approached me and reached out his hand.

“Let’s go now.”

“Yes.”

At his escort, I turned my back on her and put my hand on Theodore’s.

“Wait. I have more questions to ask!”

“As I said last time, I had nothing more to say to the stalker.”

“W-Who did you call a stalker!”

“If it’s not Lady, it’s probably Lady’s acquaintances. Please tell them to stop. I won’t let it happen twice.”

Theodore answered her half-heartedly and asked me as if he wouldn’t care anymore.

“Have you eaten?”

“Not yet.”

“No wonder. You seem thinner. All right, I’m in charge of your meal today.”

At first glance, there was a joke in his solemn tone.

He didn’t forget to put on a confident face, pointing at himself with his thumb.

I smiled lightly and nodded, then looked back.

Iris was staring at us with a red face, unable to hide her wronged feelings.

“Oh, my. Lady Iris.”

However, she immediately began to manage her expression at the voices full of joy coming from around her.

Iris never apologized to me.

I ended it neatly because there was no need to continue the relationship, but I couldn’t help but feel sad.

‘This is it.’

After leaving the cafe, the corners of my mouth went down.

It was the first time that a relationship that I thought was meant to be had been cut off, so I felt frustrated with indescribable emotions.

Rather than being sad, I felt empty and desolate.

‘Our relationship only meant this much.’

She was my first friend, she was always sweet and kind to me and constantly expressed her affection.

It gave me the realization that everything wasn’t like what was seen in the eye, so should I move on by thinking it wasn’t a bad thing?

“Hmmm.”

I sighed in frustration at my unorganized mind, then I heard the sound of clearing throat from next to me.

“Are you listening?”

“Oh, I’m sorry. I was thinking about something else for a second… What did you say?”

“I asked if there was anything you wanted to eat.”

Theodore said without the slightest expression of displeasure.

“I just want to eat something simple. I have no appetite.”

“Really?”

Theodore pondered a little and took me to the front side of the fountain.

“Wait a minute here.”

“Alright.”

“Even if someone is going to buy you something delicious, don’t follow them.”

“You said you’d buy me something delicious and brought me here.”

“Ah, I’m a friend.”

Theodore grumbled lightly, but didn’t erase the smirk on his lips.

I smiled as if getting carried away by that smile, and he left quickly, asking me to wait a little longer.

As I listened to the sound of the fountain, I tried to let my emotions flow out with the sound of the water.

“What’s going to happen now?”

I had already been cheated on by Iris, so we would never be close again.

Unless she sincerely apologized, this relationship would never be restored.

‘If at least she had apologized for doing it for her own future.’

Even as I thought so, I shook my head.

‘Let’s not have regrets about a relationship that’s already over.’

I wanted to give more affection to those who liked me instead of wasting time paying attention to those who hated me.

Spending my energy on them would be a waste.

‘Yes. My parents and sisters love me. Isabel likes me, and Adelio…’

I hesitated a little, and then nodded softly, even though no one was looking.

‘He wouldn’t call me a friend if he doesn’t like me.’

I felt something cold on my cheek as I constantly nodded to the rationalization I made as if I were brainwashing myself.

“Ah.”

“What are you thinking, why are you nodding your head alone?”

Theodore handed me a cup of cold drinks and settled down beside me.

“Do you like lemonade?”

“Yes. It’s refreshing and sweet.”

I took a sip of the cold lemonade and laughed.

Along with the refreshing taste, gloomy memories seemed to be washed away one by one.

The sweet taste behind the freshness made my mouth happy and smiled.

“It’s delicious.”

It reminded me of Theodore.

They really felt similar, because on the outside, he seemed prickly, but he seemed to have a friendly side now.

Theodore glanced at me as he drank his share of juice.

“The girl from a while ago.”

“Iris?”

“Yes, that stalker.”

“Ah! Is Iris really the one who followed you around like a stalker?”

“To be precise, the group she belongs to. She seemed to be the leader of the pack. Anyway, what’s the relationship between you two?”

“We were friends.”

“You were? Past tense?”

I shook my head at Theodore’s question.

“I don’t know if you’ve heard about it, but I was about to get engaged until recently.”

“Cough.”

Surprised by what I said, Theodore spouted the juice he was drinking.

He hurriedly apologized to the frowning passersby and roughly wiped his mouth.

“You get engaged?”

“It got canceled.”

“Why?”

I knew that someone else’s relationship was the most interesting topic, but I hated to talk about it because they seemed to like it too much.

“Didn’t you hear the rumors?”

“I’ve been busy training.”

I tried to change the subject while grumbling, but my heart felt weak again when I heard that he’d been working hard.

“I made an appointment to meet him, but when I went there, I found that he was kissing my friend.”

“Is he crazy?”

“That friend is the girl I was with a moment ago.”

“That’s crazy!”

Theodore cursed out, not hiding his emotions.

It was quite admirable that he was faithful to his emotions without paying attention to the glances pouring from the surroundings.

“I had never heard of this, so I came out to meet my friend separately, wondering if there was something wrong, and instead of apologizing…”

I frowned as I remembered what had just happened.

“I was offended by her threatening me, so I splashed tea on her clothes.”

This was a bit of a rude thing to do, so I thought about whether or not to say it, but it was already said.

“Good job!”

However, as if my worries were unfounded, Theodore seemed happy and showed a strong reaction.

“I did a good job?”

“Of course! If you had been engaged to such a guy and subsequently married, your life would have been miserable! He’s crazy! The girl he hangs out with, too!”

‘Ah. Theodore doesn’t know who my fiance is.’

I looked around and motioned for him to come close.

“Huh? What is it?”

Theodore brought his ears close to me with a curious face, and I whispered quickly.

“The person who was going to be my fiance is the First Prince.”

“…What?”

The words hardened Theodore’s body.

I laughed out loud as his face turned white as if the blasphemy he had committed was floating around in his head.

“You cursed him for my sake, so I’ll keep it a secret.”

“Oh, no. A crazy guy should be called a crazy guy, there’s no difference even if he’s called something else.”

Despite what he said, he seemed to hesitate a little bit, but I smiled lightly and moved on.

“But you caught them red-handed, aren’t you angry?”

“I wanted to believe her until the end because she was my first friend in the social world.”

It didn’t end well with Iris, but it was an unchanging fact that she was a precious person to me before that.

Although I didn’t know if she had been sincere or lying to me, I didn’t want to talk about it now.

“Social world is difficult.”

“I know. It’s too hard.”

When I sighed, Theodore twitched his huge body and spoke very cautiously.

“Uh… Rather than that kind of girl. Wouldn’t a friend who went through hardships and adversity together like me is a true friend?”

“…”

His tone was very cautious, but his expression was full of confidence, almost causing me a whiplash.

“Yes. Together we caught the culprit who tried to harm Sister Viola.”

He nodded vigorously at what I said, recalling the past.

“Thanks to that, nothing big happened to Sister.”

“I was directly recognized as a colleague by the Captain in front of everyone.”

We made eye contact with each other and laughed mischievously.

“You have such a wonderful friend, so don’t be too heartbroken. Even if you stay next to an ugly friend like that, only things like today will happen.”

Theodore’s sincere voice was unexpectedly filled with worry, which warmed a part of my heart.

“Thank you.”

Smiling with sincerity, I said as if it was no big deal.

“There are so many words of thanks among friends.”

I laughed at Theodore’s moodiness.

Then, all of a sudden, I remembered what I had been thinking before he came.

‘Theodore is also my friend, so he must be one of those who like me, right?’

I asked him with a slightly nervous face even though I knew it wasn’t a big deal.

“Theodore likes me, right?”

“What?”

“You are my friend. You became friends with me because you liked me, right?”

“O-Of course!”

I felt relieved at Theodore’s fierce shout and smiled at him.

“There are many people who like me, so I’ll erase the people who hate me from my head.”

“That’s a good idea. There must be a lot of people who l-like you.”

“Do you feel hot? Your ears are red.”

His earlobes were burning bright red, so I asked if he felt hot then he cleared his throat.

“Huh? A little bit!”

Theodore drank the juice in one gulp and smiled artificially.

“Ah, I feel better now.”

The fact that his face had turned red must be because he got overheated.
