Chapter 28
Qiao Song? You… your name is Qiao Song, right.” A man suddenly appeared from nowhere, holding a glass of wine in his hand. He squeezed next to them.
“Ah? You… know me?” Qiao Song looked in the direction of the voice. He originally thought it was a greasy guy who had overheard his name and was trying to pick up on him, but he didn’t expect that the man was actually good-looking.
He had a somewhat elegant temperament, and his words and actions were all decent. He was tall and looked very reliable, but it was too obvious that every move he made seemed to be carefully crafted and a bit deliberate.
Although this man was somewhat decent-looking, Qiao Song was certain he didn’t know him.
“Yes, I know you.” The man smiled and nodded with a confident demeanor, not like someone just making small talk, “I used to…”
Before the man could finish his sentence, Qiao Song’s phone in his pocket suddenly vibrated.
He took out his phone and saw it was Ling Jianshu calling.
He signaled an apology to the man and moved to a quieter spot to answer the call.
“Hello? Ling Brother. What’s up?”
“It’s quite noisy there. What are you doing?” Ling Jianshu pretended not to know anything and was probing Qiao Song’s reaction.
“Oh? I’m at a bar with Xia Zhe,” Qiao Song assumed he was asking when he would return to the dorm, so he added, “Don’t worry about me. If we stay out too late, I won’t come back and disturb you guys.”
Not coming back?!
Ling Jianshu instinctively tightened his grip on the phone. Was he really planning not to return?
How could Qiao Song talk about staying out all night so casually?
“Where are you? I’m coming over; it’s quite boring tonight,” he raised his voice.
“Huh?! Uh… well,” Qiao Song hesitated but ultimately refused, “It’s better not to. Ling Brother, it might not be convenient for you to come.”
Not convenient? Why would it not be convenient for him to come?
Ling Jianshu was displeased by Qiao Song’s words and immediately pressed, “Not convenient?”
“Yes, not convenient. You should just rest. It’s too noisy here, and I can barely hear you. Let’s talk when I get back. I’m hanging up now,” Qiao Song said, shaking his head. Of course, it was inconvenient.
This was a gay bar. A big straight man like Ling Jianshu would probably be terrified walking in. Anyone in Qiao Song’s position would refuse his visit.
But Ling Jianshu was even more displeased.
Not convenient, and then hanging up on him? He snorted, thinking that Qiao Song was obviously trying to avoid him.
He looked up at the most prominent sign on this bar street—Xiseli.
Since he wasn’t allowed to come, he would come on his own!
He walked straight in, determined to see what Qiao Qiao and Xia Zhe were up to in the bar.
Meanwhile, Qiao Song hung up the call with Ling Jianshu and was feeling a mix of frustration and helplessness about why a big straight guy was so involved in his business.
“Qiao Qiao, where did you go?” Xia Zhe came over, having noticed he’d been gone for a while.
“Oh, nothing much. Just took a call,” Qiao Song said vaguely.
“I saw that guy was interested in chatting you up. But how did he know your name right away? Have you met him before?” Xia Zhe asked, somewhat curiously.
Qiao Song frowned slightly, thinking he didn’t have any impression of interacting with such a man, and shook his head, “I don’t remember. He’s not really my type.”
The two chatted idly and returned to their booth.
Having walked around outside, there were now quite a few people eyeing them, and many were eager to approach.
“Qiao Qiao, how did those people know we’re not a couple?” Xia Zhe asked with a laugh.
“Maybe they think we don’t look right together,” Qiao Song joked.
“Huh? Qiao Qiao, are you saying I’m not good enough for you?” Xia Zhe lamented, hugging Qiao Song’s neck and shaking him, “No way, you can’t look down on me.”
“I didn’t say that. You’re the one overthinking it,” Qiao Song said, unable to suppress a smile as he knew Xia Zhe was just teasing him.
Ling Jianshu found it incredibly difficult to navigate through the bar and locate Qiao Song’s booth. It felt like enduring numerous hardships.
Finally, he found his location, but as he approached, he saw an intimate scene of the two embracing each other.
He felt a pang of grievance and swiftly pushed himself between them, separating Qiao Song and Xia Zhe.
Qiao Song was too stunned by his sudden action to think about why he would do such a thing. The mere fact that Ling Jianshu appeared in front of him was surprising enough.
“Ling Brother? What… what are you doing here? And how did you find me?” he asked in confusion.
“I mentioned I was bored tonight and wanted to hang out with you,” Ling Jianshu said nonchalantly.
“You haven’t answered how you found this place,” Qiao Song insisted, as he hadn’t revealed which bar he was going to.
“Why are you so anxious? I just zoomed in on the photo you posted on Moments and found the logo on the coaster on your table,” Ling Jianshu confessed candidly.
“Well, Ling Brother, you’re really like a reincarnation of Conan,” Qiao Song said with a touch of resignation.
“As long as it’s something I, Ling Jianshu, want to do, there’s nothing I can’t achieve,” he took this as a compliment and puffed out his chest with a bit of pride.
“Then why did you push in?” Xia Zhe couldn’t hold back, seeing the awkwardness as Ling Jianshu intruded while he was being affectionate with Qiao Song.
Though Qiao Song didn’t speak, he gave Ling Jianshu a look with his beautiful eyes, clearly wanting an explanation.
Why come and push in? Why not just sit properly?
“Uh, I, I was scared,” Ling Jianshu said, using the opportunity to move closer to Qiao Song.
He decided to mimic Xia Zhe’s earlier pose, hugging Qiao Song’s arm, leaning his head on his shoulder, and speaking with a hint of grievance, “Qiao Qiao, you don’t know how much courage it took for me to come in. When I walked in, it felt so eerie, like everyone was glaring at me.”
Well, that…
Qiao Song realized Ling Jianshu was certainly not lying. A big straight guy like him being in a gay bar was akin to a tender young lamb in a wolf’s den.
Well, it was understandable that he would be scared.
Thinking this, Qiao Song felt a bit of sympathy for him and thus tolerated his overstepping behavior.
He reached out and gently patted Ling Jianshu’s back, “Don’t be nervous. Although this is a gay bar, it’s not as scary as you think.”
“Huh?” Ling Jianshu’s eyes widened in disbelief, “You said this is a… gay bar?”
Seeing his sudden shocked reaction, Qiao Song was momentarily stunned but quickly realized.
So that’s why… Ling Jianshu, the eternal homophobe, would suddenly walk into a gay bar so recklessly…
It was a huge misunderstanding!
