Chapter 37: Chapter 36: The Meaning Of The Flower Magician
Chapter 36: The Meaning Of The Flower Magician
_____
"Reinhardt, come out here!"
Standing just outside Elric's bedroom, Mellie didn't even need to leave the palace. Thanks to the underground tunnel she had brazenly (secretly) dug, she could easily make her way to the door of his room.
"Hmph, you're just the King of Glory. Do you really think you can stop me from having a good meal?"
Smirking wickedly at the door, her eyes gleaming with mischief, Mellie let out a strange "hehehe" as she prepared her plan. She had done her homework.
Morgan and Vivian had been busy all night managing the affairs of City. Neither of them had stayed with Elric, and they were likely fast asleep by now.
This was a once-in-a-lifetime chance. Today, she would erase the shame of her past failures and take her ultimate revenge!
Summoning the courage of a valiant hero, the kind that could split the heavens with a single strike, Mellie stormed forward with reckless abandon. With the confidence of someone who doesn't recognize familial bonds, the stay-at-home mage kicked open the door to Elric's room.
What greeted her was not the cozy sanctum she had envisioned but a suffocating chaos so dense it felt as though darkness itself had descended upon the world.
"What is this...?"
Her instincts screamed danger. In all her memories, Mellie had never encountered such a terrifying presence.
She couldn't understand it.
She couldn't comprehend it.
She couldn't even begin to guess its nature.
The void-like existence was undeniably close, yet it felt intangible, a terrifying abstraction. Only an overwhelming sense of fear coursed through her body, like a cruel predator playing with its prey.
Sensing Mellie's intrusion, the chaotic entities within the room surged toward her in an instant.
"Wait... don't touch me! Huh?"
She instinctively tried to resist, but the moment the chaos brushed against her, Mellie froze. A strange and inexplicably familiar sensation surged through her heart.
"This is..."
As realization dawned on her, Mellie's resistance melted away. She allowed herself to be consumed, drawn into the abyss of chaos.
And then...

[As Glory continued to flourish, the name of its king, Reinhard, began to spread across Britain, echoing through the land with newfound reverence.]
[In stark contrast to the constraints you faced in the Roman Empire, in Britain, you possessed both the Beast of Revelation and the Beast of the Savior. With the essence of the God of Heaven within you, you began to grow from infancy to maturity.]
[The Beast VI/Rapture Beast of Revelation (EX) evolved, activating the skill Original Sin Release (EX).]
---
Original Sin Release (EX):
As a beast destined to destroy worlds, the seven deadly sins—pride, envy, wrath, sloth, greed, gluttony, and lust—are your sustenance.
You can manipulate these emotions within others: magnify, bestow, or obliterate them entirely.
---
[Additionally, the Seventh Ability of Heaven (Disaster) was activated.]
---
Disaster (EX):
Natural and man-made disasters fall under your domain. As the embodiment of the Heavenly Dao, you wield disaster as a form of divine punishment. You control all calamities in the world.
Even in other realms unconnected to you, you can significantly influence the occurrence of disasters. All concepts related to calamity are restricted by your authority, rendering even the God of Disaster's powers ineffective against you.
---
With Elric having resided in Britain for quite some time, gaining numerous believers and followers, the Guardian World (EX) ability of the Savior Beast had also been unlocked. This culmination of faith and spiritual power allowed the Beast of Revelation to fully evolve, granting him mastery over both Original Sin Release and Disaster.
Unlike the chaotic birth of Avalon, Elric had been able to control this evolution meticulously within his room. However, Mellie's unannounced arrival disrupted his plans entirely.
The chaos he had carefully contained lashed out, engulfing Mellie in its wake. Worse yet, Elric's newly awakened Original Sin Release unintentionally unlocked the full breadth of Mellie's seven emotions and six desires.
As for disasters, Mellie might suffer from natural and man-made calamities unique to her alone.

"Rhine, this feeling..."
It was strange—utterly strange. She was a nightmare, an existence without emotions, one who only sought to observe the world's progress and who would persist undying until the stars themselves faded away. And yet, at this moment, an inexplicable and profound feeling took root within her.
Looking at Elric, the girl known as Mellie Ambrosius found herself reflecting. When did she start being unable to forget this man?
Was it when he first called her by her true name, "Mellie"?
Was it when he promised her that he would continue the world?
Was it when he gently yet firmly told her not to destroy it?
Was it when he gave her orders, seemingly knowing she would follow?
Or perhaps, was it the time he casually mentioned that he would cook for her in the future?
She didn't know. But then again, it didn't matter. Mellie had come to understand, or perhaps, she was merely content with not understanding.
As a being born of the union between nightmares and humanity, she had always questioned why something as emotionless as herself would seek companionship among humans. Mellie once thought her existence revolved around discovering human emotions.
But now, she understood. Or rather, she accepted that perhaps the thing she sought was something she already possessed.
"Really, Rhine," she said, a faint laugh escaping her lips. "I'm obviously a nightmare, and yet..."
The great magician of Avalon chuckled self-deprecatingly and shook her head. She, a nightmare that fed on human emotions, now found herself ensnared by them.
Why? Why was this happening?
"Rhine, what do you think this is all for?"
Her thoughts had begun to wander into uncharted territory, toward matters nightmares had never contemplated before. It felt as though time, frozen for so long, had finally started moving again. Meili, who now possessed genuine emotions, had begun to cultivate feelings of her own.
"Rhine, I remember something. Among animals, newborn chicks instinctively search for their parents. From that bond, love is born. Similarly, animals of opposite sexes are drawn to one another, and love arises again."
"But you and I... we're different. We're not even of the same species. We don't share the bond of parent and child. And yet... I still fell in love with you."
"In the past, I didn't understand why I was born or why I sought human emotions. But now, I think... everything about me—"
"My existence, the meaning of my life—it's you, Reinhard."
Mellie had never liked humans, nor had she cared for the world at large. Her fascination lay in observing humanity's extinction or survival, its rise and fall. She relished witnessing the world's end or eternity, the birth and destruction of all things.
But now, she had abandoned all of that.
Freedom—a word so alluring, so captivating. In this moment, Mellie felt as though she had brushed against its true essence. She had begun to glimpse a beauty she had never dared to imagine.
She gazed quietly at Elric. For a nightmare like her, the space she inhabited was no more than a ten-square-meter cage. The world she had seen was little more than a fragment of the sky.
Yet, he had shown her something different. He had brought her dreams she would have never dared to dream in the past.
As the flower magician, Mellie could finally take pride in proclaiming to the world: the place where she now stood was not hell, but a land filled with hope.
Yes, where the flower magician Mellie resided was no longer a nightmare's inferno, but a sanctuary of light and dreams.

[Ding Dong! Congratulations to the host for obtaining the fifth follower—Nightmare.]
