Chapter 13: Chapter 13 God Enel
Namor's sharp eyes scanned the skies as the air around them grew heavier. He could feel it—a presence unlike anything he'd sensed before in this world. It was raw, electric, and filled with a power that sent a rare chill down his spine.
"Arlong," Namor said, his tone deadly serious.
"What now?" Arlong muttered, clearly tired of surprises.
Namor's gaze didn't falter from the storm clouds forming above. "You need to leave. Now."
Arlong blinked in confusion. "Leave? What are you talking about?"
"There's something coming," Namor growled, his grip tightening on his trident. "Something I'm not certain I can handle in my current state. Go, and don't look back."
Arlong hesitated. The idea of retreating—especially while Namor stayed—rankled him. But the weight in Namor's voice left no room for argument. Without another word, Arlong turned and vanished into the shadows of Skypiea's winding streets.
Moments later, a figure descended from the heavens, lightning arcing around him like a living aura. His long earlobes swayed slightly as he floated down, his staff in hand. The man exuded an air of absolute confidence, and his piercing eyes locked onto Namor with interest.
"You must be the one who caused such a stir upon your arrival," the man said, his voice smooth and commanding.
"And you must be this 'god' I've heard about," Namor replied, his tone even but laced with disdain.
The man smirked, landing lightly on the cloud-like ground. "God Enel. And you are?"
Namor straightened, his wings giving a slight flutter. "Namor. Uncrowned King of the oceans below."
Enel's eyes narrowed, a flicker of curiosity crossing his face. "A king, you say? It's rare to meet someone who claims sovereignty beyond my domain."
Namor tilted his head slightly, studying the so-called god. "It seems we have something in common then. Kings among mortals."
For a moment, there was a strange understanding between them. Enel regarded Namor with something almost resembling respect, and Namor returned the gesture with a slight nod.
"You intrigue me," Enel admitted. "The ocean's king… yet you walk upon my sky. Few mortals would dare."
"Perhaps I am no mere mortal," Namor replied, his voice calm but firm.
Enel's smirk widened. "Confidence is admirable, but it can easily turn into arrogance."
"Indeed," Namor said, his grip tightening on his trident. "It seems we both know that all too well."
The tension between them grew palpable. The respectful air was beginning to fray under the weight of their egos.
"You think yourself my equal," Enel said, his voice colder now.
Namor chuckled, a deep, mocking sound. "Equal? Hardly. I am above you, sky king. The ocean has existed far longer than these clouds."
The air crackled with energy as Enel's smirk vanished. "You dare insult me in my own domain?"
Namor raised his trident, his eyes glinting with challenge. "Let us see if you're worthy of being called a god."
Namor twirled his trident once before slamming its butt into the ground, leaving it embedded there. Enel arched an eyebrow.
"No weapon?" the self-proclaimed god remarked.
"I don't think I need it yet, I've been wanting to fight on the edge for a while now." Namor replied coolly, rolling his shoulders.
Enel's smirk returned. "Brave words for a mortal."
Before another word could be spoken, Namor launched himself forward, his movements swift and calculated. Enel reacted instantly, sidestepping and aiming a strike at Namor's ribs with his staff. Namor twisted, his arm coming up to deflect the blow, and delivered a rapid jab to Enel's face.
Enel tilted his head just enough for the punch to graze past his cheek, his expression betraying amusement. "Fast," he muttered before retaliating with a flurry of strikes.
Namor ducked under a wide swing, grabbing Enel's wrist and twisting it with surprising force. Enel spun with the motion, breaking free and delivering a spinning kick aimed at Namor's head. Namor leaned back, the heel missing him by a hair's breadth, and countered with a brutal uppercut.
The blow connected, sending Enel stumbling back a step, but the god recovered quickly. A flicker of annoyance crossed his face.
"Impressive reflexes," Enel said, wiping a trickle of blood from his lip.
"Not bad yourself," Namor admitted, his muscles taut and ready.
Enel lunged, faster than before, his staff sweeping toward Namor's knees. Namor jumped, his wings giving him an extra boost, and came down with a heavy stomp aimed at Enel's shoulder. Enel rolled away, the ground cracking where Namor landed.
The two clashed again and again, their movements almost too fast to follow. Enel's attacks were precise and fluid, his staff an extension of his body. Namor's blows, however, were raw and powerful, each one aiming to incapacitate.
At one point, Enel feinted a jab with his staff before spinning and aiming a punch at Namor's jaw. Namor caught the punch mid-air, his grip tightening like a vice.
"You hit like a child," Namor taunted before pulling Enel forward and slamming his knee into the god's stomach.
Enel grunted but used the momentum to wrap an arm around Namor's neck, attempting to pull him into a chokehold. Namor snarled, grabbing Enel's arm and throwing him over his shoulder with a loud crash.
Both men sprang back to their feet, their breathing steady despite the relentless exchange. A moment of silence passed as they studied each other, neither willing to admit the other's skill.
"You're surprisingly skilled for a king," Enel remarked, his tone less mocking and more intrigued.
"And you're surprisingly durable for a 'god,'" Namor replied, his lips curling into a faint smirk.
Enel's grin faded, replaced by a cold determination. "Enough games."
"Agreed," Namor said, stepping back to retrieve his trident.
The true clash was about to begin.
The air crackled as Enel's body radiated with electrical energy. His smirk returned, though it was now colder, more menacing. "Let's see if a king of the sea can survive a storm from the heavens."
Namor gripped his trident tightly, the shimmering steel glinting with an otherworldly brilliance. The clouds around them began to churn as if answering his unspoken command, water droplets gathering and swirling in the atmosphere.
Enel raised his staff, and a bolt of lightning shot downward from the sky, striking him and exploding outward in a brilliant flash. When the light faded, his entire body shimmered with electrical arcs.
"Raigo," Enel intoned, his voice thunderous, raising a hand toward the sky. A massive, golden orb of electricity began to form above him, expanding rapidly and illuminating the entire sky.
Namor narrowed his eyes. "You're not the only one who commands storms."
He plunged his trident into the ground, the weapon glowing as water surged upward from the surrounding clouds. The liquid twisted into massive tendrils, coiling around him like serpents. With a wave of his hand, the water condensed into a barrier, swirling with such speed that it formed a near-impenetrable vortex.
Enel thrust his hand forward, sending the golden orb hurtling toward Namor. The attack struck the water shield with a deafening roar, electricity arcing in every direction. The force of the explosion shook the floating island, cracks spidering across the ground beneath their feet.
Namor stood firm, the water shield absorbing the brunt of the blast. "Is that all?" he called, his voice booming. "Your petty lightning is nothing compared to the wrath of my oceans!"
With a sudden burst of speed, Namor launched himself forward, his trident aimed directly at Enel's chest. Enel smirked, his body transforming into pure lightning as the trident passed harmlessly through him.
Namor landed with a growl 'Another damn logia user?', spinning around to see Enel reforming behind him. The god raised his staff, aiming a crackling bolt of electricity at Namor's back.
"El Thor!"
The lightning bolt struck Namor directly, engulfing him in a blinding explosion. Smoke and dust filled the air, and Enel chuckled. "A mortal king, brought low by a god."
But as the smoke cleared, Namor stood tall, his body steaming but otherwise unharmed. His arm glowed faintly, absorbing the residual electricity.
"Didn't expect that, did you?" Namor said, his voice dripping with mockery. He lifted his hand, a crackling orb of absorbed electricity forming in his palm. With a flick of his wrist, he hurled it back at Enel.
The bolt struck Enel squarely in the chest, sending him flying backward into the side of a building. The structure crumbled from the impact, debris raining down as Enel emerged from the wreckage, his expression twisted with rage.
"How dare you!" Enel bellowed, his body glowing brighter as he unleashed a series of lightning strikes from the sky.
Namor dodged the first few bolts, his mutant ability to fly giving him unmatched agility in the air. He spun and weaved through the onslaught, his movements fluid and calculated. One strike grazed him, but he absorbed the energy, redirecting it toward Enel in a streak of blue lightning.
Enel snarled, raising his staff to deflect the attack, but Namor was already upon him. The king of the ocean slammed into him with a shoulder tackle, sending both of them crashing into the ground below.
The impact created a massive crater, and Namor didn't waste a moment. He drove his trident down, aiming for Enel's chest, but the god dissolved into lightning once more, reforming a few feet away.
"You can't touch me!" Enel shouted, his voice echoing with fury.
Namor smirked. "Can't I?"
His trident shimmered as he coated it with Armament Haki, the turquoise-blackened steel radiating a menacing aura. Enel's confident expression faltered as Namor lunged again, this time slamming his will-infused weapon into his side.
The attack connected, sending Enel skidding across the ground, blood dripping from the corner of his mouth. He clutched his ribs, his eyes wide with disbelief. "What… what is this?"
"You're not invincible," Namor said coldly, stalking toward him.
Enel growled, forcing himself to stand. "Enough of this!"
He raised both hands, summoning an enormous surge of electricity. The sky turned blindingly bright as a massive column of lightning descended, engulfing Namor entirely.
For a moment, all was silent. Then, from within the blinding light, a figure emerged. Namor's body glowed faintly, the lightning dancing harmlessly across his skin.
"You know lightning won't work on me, I've played with plenty eels in my life to be unaffected by now." he said, his voice low and menacing.
Enel's eyes widened in shock as Namor surged forward with terrifying speed. The king of the ocean slammed his fist into Enel's face, sending the self-proclaimed god flying.
Enel tried to recover, but Namor was relentless. He followed up with a series of brutal strikes, each blow infused with his will. Blood splattered as Namor's trident carved through Enel's defenses, leaving deep gashes across his body.
Desperation flickered in Enel's eyes as he tried to retreat, but Namor wasn't finished. He raised his trident high, the weapon glowing with a mix of haki and absorbed lightning.
"This ends now!" Namor roared, driving the weapon down with all his might.
The impact unleashed a massive explosion, the ground shattering beneath them as a shockwave rippled across the battlefield. When the dust settled, Enel lay on the ground, battered and bloodied, his body barely moving.
Namor stood over him, his chest heaving but his expression triumphant. "You're no god, I've had my run in with a few of those," he said coldly. "Just a delusional fool."
With that, Namor turned and walked away, his trident resting on his shoulder.
