Chapter 16: Chapter 16
"Kakashi," Guy spoke slowly, "It's nice to see you again."
Kakashi shook his head. "I'm not happy. It seems that when I go back, maybe there will be one more name on Konoha's traitorous ninja list."
As he spoke, he turned his head slightly and whispered to the three people behind him, "You guys pay attention. I'll fight with Guy, and the three of you take Naruto down as quickly as possible. Be careful... Try not to use any lethal force on him."
Kakashi paused.
"Naruto's body is sealed with a tailed beast. If he's fatally attacked, the tailed beast within him might awaken... and it's not something any of you can handle."
Sasuke nodded heavily. "Understood."
However, neither he nor Sakura took Naruto seriously.
At the ninja academy, he had been the deadlast who couldn't even use the Clone Technique. He had challenged Sasuke a few times, but Sasuke defeated him without much effort.
Even with a tailed beast inside him... without threatening Naruto's life, they could easily subdue him.
Sasuke had unparalleled confidence.
Guy chuckled. "Just the three of them? I'm afraid it might be a little difficult."
Kakashi shook his head. "The three of them against Naruto is enough."
With that, the two of them began to fight. They were old rivals, familiar with each other's strengths and weaknesses, and for a while, they were evenly matched.
The battlefield was divided into two small sections.
Sasuke looked at Naruto arrogantly. "Do you still need me to beat you? Just surrender."
Sakura looked at Naruto with concern. "Naruto, why did you leave the village... If you come back, I'm willing to give you a chance to pursue me."
Naruto was about to speak, but his words caught in his throat. He looked at Sakura-chan in astonishment, the girl he had once liked, his eyes full of incredulity.
Why would she say such shameless words?
Hinata didn't speak but simply looked worried.
Naruto sneered. "You guys, I'm not the same Naruto as before. How could I go back to a place like the rotten Konoha?"
Sasuke rubbed his wrist. "In that case, don't blame me for being ruthless."
With a thud, Sasuke used a slight force under his feet and rushed toward Naruto, his fists clenched and aimed at Naruto's head.
Naruto didn't make a move, which seemed to Sasuke like Naruto had been scared silly.
But then there was a snap.
Sasuke found that his body could no longer move. His wrist had been grabbed by Naruto, and the force crushed him, staggering his body.
"Is that all there is to it?" Naruto sneered, then threw Sasuke aside.
Sasuke stumbled several times before finally falling at Sakura's feet.
One hit?
Sakura and Sasuke's eyes were full of disbelief.
Especially Sasuke, who was completely stunned.
He never imagined that one day, he would be knocked to the ground by the deadlast. It was shocking.
Sakura hurriedly picked Sasuke up and turned to Hinata. "Let's fight together. Naruto's strength..."
Sasuke shook off Sakura's hand and said stubbornly, "No, I can do it alone."
He still thought that it was just a small mistake, that he had underestimated his enemy. He admitted that Naruto may be a qualified opponent, but he certainly didn't think Naruto could beat him.
Sasuke slowly stood up. "You've grown a little in the past six months."
Naruto didn't speak.
Sasuke continued. "I'll take you seriously next."
"Seal—"
"Fire Style: Great Fireball Technique!"
A massive fireball erupted from Sasuke's mouth, billowing toward Naruto.
If this technique had been performed by Obito, it might have been a real challenge for Naruto. But from Sasuke, with the level of a Genin...
Naruto pursed his lips. He didn't even dodge. A strange chakra appeared on his body, condensing into a massive claw that reached forward and collided with the fireball.
With a snort, the fireball went out.
Sasuke was shocked—before he could react, Naruto had already rushed toward him with a speed faster than the naked eye could track.
Without performing any seals, a dazzling blue light blossomed in his hand.
Sasuke felt his whole body twist in the spiral airflow, and before he could recover, he was slammed into the bridge, leaving irregular cracked marks.
One hit.
Still just one hit.
Sasuke, not unconscious but lying on the ground like a salted fish, stared at the sky above him with a dazed expression.
Why... Why had the deadlast, who was once no match for him, become so powerful in just half a year?
He, the proud Uchiha, wasn't even an opponent for the deadlast?
