Naruto : Behind The Scenes Big Boss System

Chapter 11: Madara, Just Hold Out for Five More Minutes

A bead of cold sweat dripped down Hyuga Koten's forehead. He suddenly realized that Uchiha Gen had appeared right in front of him, without him even noticing.

"Die!"

With a roar, Koten swung his longsword at Gen's position, but with a loud clang, his blade only sliced into the ground, barely making a scratch where Gen had been standing. Gen hadn't even been touched.

"It's useless. You know this is an illusion—you can't harm me. Farewell, sayonara!" Gen's figure appeared again, this time behind Koten, and then soared high into the air. At a certain height, all the blades in the mountain of swords shot out, each one standing taller than a person, densely packed.

Three longswords pierced through Hyuga Koten's body simultaneously.

At the same time, back in reality, Uchiha Gen's kunai sliced across Koten's unmoving neck.

"Ding! You killed a Special Jonin of the Hyuga clan, earning 2000 points."

"New mission unlocked: Support Uchiha Madara and kill the lead Jonin of the Hyuga clan. Completion reward: 5000 points. Failure: Termination."

"System, screw you!"

Just after taking down Koten, Gen's ears rang with the system's voice. The smile on his face froze. He never would have thought the system would assign a mission at this moment, and with such absurd conditions.

Originally, his plan with Madara had been clear-cut: after Gen eliminated the opposing Special Jonin, they would join forces to push back the enemy's Jonin, then clean up the remaining Chunin.

And push back was precisely the term they'd agreed upon, not kill. From the beginning, neither he nor Madara had realistically thought they'd be able to eliminate the enemy Jonin.

As members of the Uchiha clan, they had experienced the terrifying strength of Jonin firsthand. In Gen's estimation, he could just about manage to kill a Special Jonin in direct combat, but going up against a full-fledged Jonin would mean he'd last only ten minutes before having to retreat. Even with Madara's help, they might be able to hold their ground but killing a Jonin was nearly impossible.

Madara's bold talk before the battle, about taking down the opposition and making them his stepping stones—well, that was just bluster, something to hype himself up. Only a fool would take it seriously.

Now, the system mission explicitly demanded "kill," and the difficulty of this was anything but slight. A Jonin forced to a dead end would be terrifying, and one wrong move could mean death.

The mission's failure penalty was the most concerning—failure meant termination, effectively cornering him with no other option.

Gen took a deep breath, forcing himself to stay calm. In times like these, keeping a clear mind was crucial. He surveyed the battlefield, analyzing the situation.

Uchiha Ji was still locked in fierce combat with the opposing Special Jonin, with no sign of a quick resolution. The three Uchiha Chunin on his side were each engaged with the enemy's three Chunin, while Uchiha Izuna, wielding his sword, faced off against another Chunin alone. Due to his age, he was at a disadvantage, but was gritting his teeth, holding his ground firmly, and for now, was in no immediate danger.

However, the 87 younger Uchiha children? One look and Gen almost died of frustration. The six enemy Chunin were cutting through them with ease, killing one every few moves.

"Even if they were just 80 Academy students, they should be able to wear down six Chunin. What a useless lot," Gen muttered, gritting his teeth.

In theory, 80 Genin should be able to wipe out six Chunin at the cost of only about ten lives, provided they kept their heads.

But these kids were clearly inexperienced, never having faced real combat. At first, they had charged forward enthusiastically, thinking they could take down the six Chunin, but when three of them were instantly cut down, terror spread among them. When they felt their comrades' blood splattering on them, they suddenly realized that this wasn't a game but a life-or-death battle where people truly died.

Some of them began to break down, trying to run. The entire formation descended into chaos, leaving them unable to fight effectively. It quickly turned into a one-sided slaughter.

Gen shifted his gaze, resigned to this mess. He'd known this would happen. For those who survived, this experience would strip away their naïveté, pushing them to grow into real Shinobi—if they survived.

Gen then turned his attention to Uchiha Madara's side, where he saw blood trickling from the corners of Madara's mouth. His clothing was shredded, and he was panting heavily, barely managing to fend off his opponent's attacks. He looked close to his limit.

Yet Gen could still discern a glint in Madara's eye as the tomoe in his Sharingan slowly spun, tracking every move of his opponent. There was a certain fierceness there, a hint of the relentless force that would one day conquer the Shinobi world.

"Hurry up and help me already!"

Madara's voice rang out as he coughed up blood, forcing down a mouthful of it. He'd managed to glimpse Gen's progress, knowing he'd already defeated the Special Jonin on his side.

A hint of a smile crept onto Gen's face as he muttered, "If you're still able to yell for help this loud, then you must not be that close to the edge."

With that, he drew a kunai and charged, not toward Madara, but toward Uchiha Ji, who was still fighting another Special Jonin.

"Madara, there's a change in plans. Hold out for five more minutes, and I'll be there!" Gen shouted as he closed in on the other Special Jonin. He threw his kunai and quickly formed hand seals, calling out, "Fire Release: Flame Slash!" It was another B-rank jutsu he'd mastered, and he executed it without hesitation, determined to end the fight quickly.

"To hell with you! In five minutes, you'll be here just in time to collect my corpse!" Madara nearly spat blood in rage, cursing out loud.
