Chapter 12: Leo Vs. The Little Spy
As Leo moved his arm, he realized that two ninjas were clutching him tightly.
"Why are you holding me? Ah, I see—you must be spies from other villages!"
Leo glanced at the two ninjas beside him, a look of confusion crossing his face. After a brief moment of thought, everything became clear to him.
These three must be spies sent by rival villages! They're here at the Ninja Academy to cause trouble!
As a proud ninja of Konoha, how could he stand idly by?
"Spies, die!" Leo shouted, gripping his blade with determination.
"What in the world—"
Shisui, caught off guard, felt a sudden surge of strength as his body was lifted and flung into the air.
"You spies, prepare to die! Teacher, don't worry—I've got this under control!"
A sharp, resonant sound echoed as Leo unsheathed his blade, Shusui.
Standing confidently, Leo held his sword with a smirk, exuding an aura of righteousness.
---
"Is this the kind of strength a Ninja Academy student should have?"
Shisui stared at Leo in disbelief. Even though he had been caught unprepared, the raw power Leo displayed—flinging both him and another ANBU effortlessly—was astounding.
At Leo's age, Shisui had never possessed such strength, and he was considered one of the Uchiha clan's most talented prodigies.
Adding to that, Leo's swordsmanship was razor-sharp and terrifyingly precise.
"To call him one of the strongest geniuses since the founding of Konoha's Ninja Academy might not be an exaggeration," Shisui admitted to himself.
Yet Leo's words pulled him out of his thoughts, and Shisui couldn't help but twitch the corner of his mouth.
"This genius seems to have… peculiar logic," he muttered under his breath.
Meanwhile, Tanaka Hideichi stared at Leo, who stood with his blade drawn, his expression full of righteous indignation.
Hearing Leo's declarations, Hideichi opened his mouth but couldn't find the words to respond.
"Wait—when did Kakashi and the others become spies from other villages?!" Hideichi thought, feeling his head ache at the situation.
Leo narrowed his eyes. "Hmm, the leader of your little spy group must be this short guy here. I'll deal with him first!"
After what he considered "careful observation," Leo decided Kakashi, the first to speak, was clearly the ringleader.
"Catch the leader first—that's the rule!" Leo declared confidently.
"Short… SHORT GUY?!" Kakashi's eye twitched.
It had been years since he'd last seen Leo, but this guy's sharp tongue hadn't changed a bit.
Memories of their time at the Academy came rushing back—memories of being humiliated by Leo in every clash.
"Teacher," Kakashi said, interrupting Hideichi, who was about to explain Leo's misunderstanding. "I recall that Leo hasn't had his practical exam yet, correct?"
"Uh… yes, that's right," Hideichi stammered, caught off guard.
"Then I'll be his opponent," Kakashi replied coldly, his gaze sharp and unwavering.
Kakashi had graduated early from the Academy, gaining valuable experience in countless battles.
He had reached the rank of Chunin two years ago and now far surpassed the average Chunin in strength.
Though Leo had bested him in the past, Kakashi was confident that his growth and experience over the past two years had created an insurmountable gap between them.
Today, he would wipe away the shame of those previous defeats.
With fiery determination, Kakashi rested his hand on the short blade strapped to his back—a relic of his late father, the legendary "White Fang of Konoha."
"Today, I'll redeem myself!" Kakashi vowed silently.
The onlookers buzzed with excitement.
"Is Kakashi really challenging Leo?"
"I heard Kakashi became a Chunin a long time ago."
"But… this is Leo we're talking about."
Over the years, Leo had built a reputation as an unstoppable force. Those who dared provoke him were harshly defeated.
"Kakashi might be strong, but can he really beat Leo?"
"You can do it, Leo!"
"Be careful, Leo," Rin called out excitedly, waving. Meanwhile, Kurenai stood nearby, softly cheering with worry in her eyes.
Hearing their encouragement, Leo's suspicions solidified.
"So, even the villagers of Konoha recognize this little spy. Don't worry—I'll handle him!"
"Little… LITTLE SPY?!" Kakashi's face twitched.
He could tolerate being called a spy.
He could even endure being called short.
But "little spy"? That crossed the line!
"LEO!!" Kakashi roared, unsheathing his father's blade.
"Oh? So the little spy knows who I am. Your intel's better than I thought!" Leo said condescendingly, gripping Shusui tightly.
"This is the perfect chance to test my 'Steel Slash' technique."
In the art of swordsmanship, there were three realms: Swordsman, Swordmaster, and Great Swordmaster.
(TL: According to my own research Mihawk attainments in swordsmanship is Great Swordmaster correct me if I'm wrong.)
To reach the level of Swordmaster, one had to hear the "breath of all things" and master the ability to cut steel.
This wasn't just about cutting metal—it symbolized a deep understanding of the essence of materials. A true Swordmaster could even cut waterfalls or flames.
Thanks to his system, Leo had already mastered this technique.
"Crescent Moon Slash!" Leo shouted, naming his move on the spot.
Raising Shusui high, he swung downward with all his might.
Shisui, watching nearby, shook his head. "Did he just slash at the air? Is this guy drunk?"
But before he could step forward to stop Kakashi's advance, the air itself shifted.
A dark wave of energy erupted from Leo's blade, roaring toward Kakashi like a rampaging beast.
"What?!" Kakashi's eyes widened in shock as the dark purple energy tore through the air, heading straight for him.
