Chapter 147: Chapter 145: Entanglements

Chapter 145: Entanglements

"Where is he?"

The room was filled with frantic shouts as Baishi disappeared from sight.

Slash!

The sound of a blade slicing through flesh echoed sharply, drawing everyone's gaze to the source.

But before they could make sense of what had happened, a series of screams followed one after another.

In mere seconds, the room was silent, leaving only two people standing.

"Wait, don't kill me! I have money—a lot of money!"

Kado, trembling as he backed away, offered his fortune in a desperate plea.

Baishi found the display utterly uninteresting. With a flick of his foot, he sent a sword into the air and casually flung it at Kado.

"No!"

Kado turned to flee, but the blade struck true, piercing his heart.

And just like that, one of the wealthiest and most infamous men in the shinobi world, Kado, met his end on an obscure island.

After a quick search of the castle, Baishi took some of the valuables before departing.

For the next half-month, Baishi traveled at his leisure, enjoying the scenery while continuing to refine his abilities. His days were carefree and tranquil.

However, unbeknownst to him, his actions had set many forces in the ninja world into motion.

First was Onoki. Just as he left the Land of Waves, Iwagakure's ninjas arrived to investigate.

Not long after, Konoha's forces also made an appearance.

Interestingly, there were two separate Konoha teams. One group was from the Anbu directly under Minato Namikaze's command, while the other was composed of Danzo's operatives.

Despite their efforts, both Iwa and Konoha arrived too late.

The reality of Baishi's mastery of the Flying Thunder God Technique was simple: unless he wanted to be found, no one could track him down—unless…

Land of Forests, Falling Leaf Town

In a quiet courtyard rented by Jinjiu, Baishi wore a grim expression. He glanced toward a dark insect lurking in a corner of the wall.

"Unless someone sets an ambush," Baishi muttered.

The moment he teleported into the courtyard, his enhanced senses picked up on the insect.

It wasn't because he was particularly attentive—his heightened senses simply left nothing unnoticed.

Even before reaching his current level, Baishi had been able to detect and identify Yuura Ryoma's parasitic insects by scent. Now that his [Enhanced Senses] were at level X, spotting the tiny creature was effortless.

His recognition was immediate.

Noticing Baishi's darkened mood, Jinjiu approached cautiously and asked, "Sir, is something wrong?"

Baishi gave him a pointed look, his tone faintly irritated. "You've been under surveillance."

"What?"

Jinjiu's face paled in shock. He followed Baishi's gaze to the corner of the wall.

"That's…"

Jinjiu's voice faltered as he stared at the dark insect.

"Yes," Baishi confirmed. "A parasitic insect, likely one of Yuura Ryoma's. Have you heard of him?"

As he spoke, Baishi extended a chakra thread with a flick of his finger, ensnaring the insect and pulling it into his palm.

Before he could inspect it further, the insect's life abruptly ended. Its body disintegrated moments later.

Watching the insect's remains dissipate, Baishi chuckled softly. He cast his gaze toward the town's outskirts and murmured, "Cautious, aren't they? Unfortunately…"

With those words, Baishi activated his Chakra Cloak and unfurled his Wind Wings. Without hesitation, he flew toward the town's outskirts.

Falling Leaf Town Perimeter

Within the forest outside the town, Yuura Ryoma had just released a messenger hawk when he noticed a figure enveloped in green light speeding toward him from the distance.

At first, the figure appeared to be heading straight for him, but as it neared the forest, it suddenly veered sharply upward, chasing after the hawk.

Though the hawk was swift, it couldn't match the speed of the green figure. Within moments, it was caught.

Seeing this, Yuura Ryoma grimaced and muttered, "This is bad." He turned and darted deeper into the forest.

But he hadn't gone far before a voice called from above.

"Why the rush?"

The playful tone sent a chill down Yuura Ryoma's spine. He stopped in his tracks and shouted, "Now!"

No sooner had he spoken than Baishi felt a surge of mental energy targeting his consciousness, attempting to take control of his body.

'Mind Transfer Jutsu.'

Baishi instantly recognized the technique as a secret ability of the Yamanaka Clan.

"Futile," he said coldly.

His immense mental power surged forth, shattering the invading energy into fragments.

Thud.

Baishi's sharp hearing caught the sound of a body collapsing somewhere deeper in the forest.

Clearly, the Yamanaka operative had suffered backlash from the failed jutsu.

He didn't have much time to dwell on it. Suddenly, a faint sense of danger prickled at his mind.

Looking around, he noticed blood-red sealing patterns beginning to materialize in the air.

"This is… the Reverse Four Symbols Sealing Formation?"

Rather than panic, Baishi studied the forming seal with keen interest.

Quickly, he noticed differences between this technique and the standard Reverse Four Symbols Seal.

"Perhaps it's more accurate to call this the 'Reverse Four Symbols Seal Array.'"

Within the formation, four Root operatives stood at cardinal points, their chests exposed and blood gushing freely.

Moments later, the blood reversed its flow, pulling everything within the formation toward their bodies for sealing.

"Did it work?"

Yuura Ryoma stared at the now-empty section of forest, whispering to himself.

Before he could relax, Baishi's voice sounded behind him.

"So, this was your big plan?"

Yuura Ryoma froze, spinning around with a kunai in hand. His blade struck something soft yet unyielding—not skin, not fabric.

He glanced over his shoulder and saw faint green light emanating from a red gemstone embedded in a ring.

"Odd… what are those three black dots?"

His focus locked onto the red gemstone, unable to look away. By the time he realized something was wrong, the gemstone flared brightly.

Yuura Ryoma fell into a daze. His extensive battle experience told him he was caught in a genjutsu, and he immediately tried disrupting his chakra flow to break free.

But it was too late.

Baishi extended a single finger and drove it into Yuura Ryoma's back.

Shlunk.

A wooden spike sprouted from Baishi's fingertip, piercing through Yuura Ryoma's heart.

Clatter.

Yuura Ryoma's mask fell to the ground, revealing a pale face beneath.

Retracting his hand, Baishi let the body collapse to the forest floor.

He turned toward another part of the forest and called out, "Are you coming out, Kakashi?"
