Naruto: Forbidden Pleasures

Chapter 12: In the Claws of the Night

The silence weighed heavily in the room where Naruto found himself. The darkness of the night had gradually engulfed the space, and the spicy scent of cooled food still lingered, teasing his senses and making him increasingly restless. His stomach growled, but he couldn't afford to pay it any mind. He had to get out. The prolonged absence of the mysterious girl was an opportunity he couldn't ignore.

After one last cautious glance around, Naruto opened the door slowly. The cold night air rushed in, accompanied by a chilling breeze that seemed to whisper warnings. He ventured into the garden he had observed earlier through the window. The place was even more sinister than he had imagined. Twisted trees cast grotesque shadows under the faint light of a crescent moon. Every gust of wind rustled the leaves, adding an oppressive note to the already tense atmosphere.

Naruto moved cautiously, his senses on high alert. Every snap of a twig underfoot, every rustle in the bushes around him, heightened his nerves. "I have to get out of here, no matter what," he thought, quickening his pace.

Soon, he began to run, his breathing becoming faster as adrenaline coursed through him. Yet an unsettling feeling crept into his mind. Something was wrong. He had the unpleasant sensation of being watched. Before he could analyze the feeling, a murderous intent pierced the air—sharp, cold, and unmistakable.

A silver flash came out of nowhere. Naruto instinctively turned his head, narrowly dodging a kunai aimed directly at his eye. A thin, stinging cut appeared on his cheek, a drop of blood sliding down his skin. Breathing heavily, he scanned the darkness for the source of the attack, but the dense shadows revealed nothing.

A second and third kunai came flying, as quick as lightning. Naruto dove to the side, grabbing a fallen branch to deflect the third projectile. The kunai embedded itself with a dull thud into the wood. Without wasting a moment, Naruto darted behind a nearby tree, using the trunk as cover.

"Who are you?" he shouted, his voice hoarse and breath uneven. The echo of his question faded into the oppressive silence. No response came, only the heavy, suffocating quiet.

Then came the footsteps—soft, faint, yet threatening, as if approaching from every direction at once. Naruto gripped the branch, now reinforced by the embedded kunai, ready to defend himself. But before he could act, a sharp pain shot through his left arm. He looked down to see a kunai buried deep in his flesh.

"Impossible..." he murmured. The attack had come from behind, even though the footsteps were in front. Was he facing one enemy or many? With a growl of pain, he yanked the kunai from his arm, blood dripping down his fingers.

A thick, cold mist began to rise, enveloping the surroundings. The already poor visibility diminished further. "This is bad," Naruto thought, his mind racing for a strategy. He jumped to a large tree branch, hoping to gain a better vantage point. But the dense fog mocked his efforts, obscuring everything around him.

"You want to play?" he shouted into the void. "Face me head-on, coward!"

A soft, mocking laugh echoed through the mist. A cold, feminine voice followed:

"You've entered my playground, Naruto Uzumaki. But I warn you, this isn't a game you'll win."

A shiver ran down Naruto's spine. He gritted his teeth, gripping his improvised weapon tightly. A gust of wind rattled the branches, and suddenly, he saw her—a masked figure moving swiftly from tree to tree. Before he could aim or react, she vanished again, leaving only a distant laugh behind.

He closed his eyes for a moment, trying to calm his mind. "Focus. Just like against Neji. Feel her intent before she strikes."

A movement to his left. He turned sharply, swinging the branch, but hit nothing but air. Another attack came from his right. Naruto rolled to the ground, narrowly avoiding a blade that would have skewered him. The pain in his injured arm was slowing him down, but he refused to give in.

He decided to use his Shadow Clone Jutsu, creating several copies of himself in different directions, hoping to confuse his opponent. A figure emerged from the mist to strike one of the clones, but before Naruto could capitalize on the opening, she disappeared again, like an elusive ghost.

"She's toying with me," he realized, his breathing ragged. His patience was wearing thin. "Show yourself!" he yelled, frustration clear in his voice.

The voice came again, closer this time.

"Show me you're worth it. Prove to me you're worthy of what they say about you, Jinchūriki."

Naruto froze, hearing the word. "She knows about Kurama..."

The intensity of the battle suddenly escalated. Shurikens flew toward him, and Naruto dodged with a series of backflips. But his breath was growing shorter, and the pain in his arm throbbed relentlessly. Once again, he tried to locate the figure in the mist, but she always seemed one step ahead.

Then, she appeared—right in front of him. A young woman in a white mask, her eyes glinting with determination. Naruto lunged at her, but she effortlessly parried his attack with a grace that was almost taunting.

"Not bad," she said, stepping back slightly. "But if this is all you've got, you'll die here."

Naruto, panting, clenched his fists. "I won't die until I've saved my friends. And definitely not to you!"

She smirked behind her mask, her aura growing even more intense. "Then show me what you're made of, Naruto Uzumaki."

The battle was just beginning.
