Chapter 131: The Conclusion to Operation: Save Hinata!
Karin's head popped out of the water with a splash, her crimson hair slick with water.
"Pfft— is it over, onee-sama?" she asked Sakura, spitting out a mouthful of seawater. "Is… is it dead…?"
The blue chakra cloak surrounding Yugito gradually receded back into her body.
…
While Jinchūriki were tough, they were still human— there was only so much punishment Yugito could take before her body gave out. And unlike Naruto's Kurama, Yugito's Matatabi wasn't all that impressive— amongst its Tailed Beast brethren, Matatabi was considered to be on the weaker side of things.
Each Tailed Beast, from number two to number nine, possesses twice as much chakra as the (N-1)th Tailed Beast (N being the number of tails). Which means that roughly speaking, each Tailed Beast possesses the equivalent of the sum of all of its predecessors' chakra, and considering that even the first Tailed Beast has monstrous quantities of chakra (compared to a human), one can only imagine what ungodly power the ninth possesses…
That being said, even though unsplit Kurama is as strong as the eight other Tailed Beasts combined, chakra is not the be-all and end-all when it comes to strength. For example, Shukaku is arguably stronger than Matatabi (whose chakra pool is twice as large!), because Shukaku actually bothered to learn Ninjutsu to compensate for its weakness!
…
"Are you in there, Yugito-san?" said Sakura warily, poking Yugito in her breastplate. "Hello…?"
In response, Yugito's unconscious body rocked with the waves.
For a split second, Sakura thought the Jinchūriki had woken up, so she decked her in the chin as hard as she could— just to be safe.
Once she was certain that Yugito was well and truly unconscious, Sakura casually slipped her hand under Yugito's clothes and briefly massaged her breasts, using the water as a cover to prevent Karin from seeing what she was doing. Unlike with Samui, she wouldn't need much of her size, and she didn't want to draw any more attention than was absolutely necessary to the true source of her powers: the hopes and dreams of men everywhere attached to her chest.
As Sakura massaged away, a warm feeling surged in her breast. The heat continued building up, but just as the temperature was getting uncomfortably high, the burning sensation receded; leaving Sakura's cheeks flushed pink.
'Tailed Beast chakra acquired!' crowed Inner Sakura. 'One down, two to go!'
Sakura smiled weakly in response— she was exhausted, and her shoulders hurt.
She knew she ought to feel proud— she had accomplished a laudable feat, after all. As a Genin, she had managed to defeat a Perfect Jinchūriki pretty much all on her own, but even so, all she wanted to do now was to get back home and goon all day to her favourite pin-up calendar, which featured the twelve hottest kunoichi in all of the land.
'You know, apart from my family,' said Inner Sakura miserably, 'the thing I miss most about Earth is the internet…'
The internet and everything it had to offer had spoiled Sakura— and it was only after her reincarnation that she had finally understood just how much it had mattered to her.
'The moral of this story is to goon while you still can,' said Inner Sakura wisely, 'because you never know when you'll die and get reincarnated into a world where there are only magazines and pin-up calendars.'
To think that Sakura's greatest treasure was now a slightly stained candid picture of some kunoichi from Nadeshiko village… Sakura sighed.
…
And so, once the sea had calmed down enough to step on, Sakura and Karin dragged Yugito's unconscious body back to the shore and left it there for the Land of Hot Water's shinobi to find. While she was at it, Sakura also discreetly slipped the Lightning Chakra Mode's soggy instruction manual into Yugito's pocket.
'When we get back home, the first thing we're doing is gooning,' said Inner Sakura decisively. 'And the second thing we're doing is learning one Water Style Jutsu.'
As an incorrigible pervert, it was Sakura's way to seek instant gratification.
Instead of consolidating her skill set and focusing on her strengths, she was spreading herself thin by learning and doing whatever first popped into her mind. Since she wouldn't have beaten Yugito on dry land, she now wanted to learn Water Style— and she knew exactly with which Ninjutsu she wanted to start.
At any rate, thanks to Karin's and Neji's amazing sensory abilities, the group managed to unite shortly afterwards, and they finally commenced their uneventful journey back to the Hidden Leaf, having succeeded in their mission to save Hinata from the Hidden Cloud against all odds.
'Well, we saved most of Hinata,' said Inner Sakura snarkily. 'So what if she's missing a Byakugan or two?'
There was nothing much to say about this uneventful journey back to the village— so much so, in fact, that it would actually be more relevant to describe what hadn't happened to Sakura during that time:
Sadly, Sakura had missed Naruto the Movie: Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow due to her prolonged absence from the village.
Following the Konoha Crush, the Hidden Leaf had continued receiving and accepting missions at the same rate as it had before the tragedy, even though a good part of Konoha's manpower was now lying six feet under.
As such, Kakashi had been forced to accept the mission to escort Kazahana Koyuki (the famous film actress and actual princess) to the Land of Snow without Sakura. Since she hadn't watched any of the Naruto films, Sakura would have taken this adventure as a simple filler arc, but in summary, here is what happened:
Kakashi, Naruto, Sasuke, Tenten and a camera crew go to the Land of Snow and kill the Daimyō of the Land of Snow, the actress's uncle. Then, they bring global warming to the country, devastating the ecosystem forever. The End.
In truth, Sakura hadn't missed much by skipping out on this mission.
The highlight of the journey was Team Kakashi's encounter with some 'Ice Style' shinobi, including one kunoichi! Sadly, Sakura wouldn't have been able to steal any Kekkei Genkai from her— her Ice Style was fake, unlike Yuki Haku's.
As such, it was actually a good thing that Sakura had missed out on this mission— by not going, she was spared the disappointment of finding out that their enemies were a bunch of cheaters!

A few days of Naruto-running later, Konoha's gates finally came into view.
To Sakura, it felt almost strange to be returning home after so long abroad. At first, the familiar sights seemed almost alien to her— the walls, the gates… even the annoying Izumi-Kotetsu duo, who always insisted upon checking her for the Transformation Jutsu, because her chakra signature would change every time she left the village…
"Enough already!" Sakura snapped at Izumi, who looked like he was trying to find an excuse to strip-search her. "We've done this a thousand times— My name is Ha! Ru! No! Sa! Ku! Ra! Who else would I be, shannaro!?"
"Fine, come on in," said Kotetsu sullenly. "Oh, and the four of you— head to the Lady Hokage's office straightaway— she wants to see you as soon as possible…"
