-------------------------------------------------------------

'The members of the Shimura clan, who have had deep conflicts with the Uchiha, shamelessly came to the captain to ask for help. This is simply too amusing!' Izumi wanted to follow along and watch the fun.

"The Shimura clan is asking me for help?"

Kazuki put down the meat pie he hadn't finished, paused for a few seconds, and then burst into loud laughter.

"That's hilarious! They're actually coming to me for help, and it's even on Jiraiya's orders. Are they trying to threaten me?"

After laughing for a while, Kazuki told Izumi:

"Go tell him to get lost. I'm not interested in helping the Shimura clan with any investigation. They should deal with their own family matters. And don't mention Jiraiya to me; that won't work on me. This doesn't even concern the police force."

You want me to investigate myself?

Dream on!

It's already a favor that I'm not continuing to give you trouble, and you want me to help you? You've got some nerve.

"Wait, send Jiro. You're not suited to play the bad guy."

Izumi wasn't good at playing the bad guy; this kind of thing required Jiro's involvement. Being big and burly with a fierce expression, Jiro didn't even need to get angry—just standing there made people think he was not someone to mess with.

When Jiro got the message, he was thrilled. He headed straight to the police force's main hall and yelled at the Shimura clan members:

"The captain told me to tell you to get lost, as far as possible!

And you have the nerve to ask for help?

When you were targeting the Uchiha before, you showed no mercy, and now you know how to ask for help?"

"Get out!! If you don't leave, I'll knock out your teeth."

"This is on Lord Jiraiya's orders..."

"Out!!!"

Jiro couldn't be bothered to argue with them. He grabbed one of them by the shirt and threw him out. Lord Jiraiya's orders?

Sorry, but our captain doesn't play by those rules.

The Shimura clan members left, humiliated. The Uchiha couldn't help but laugh, taking joy in their misfortune, while bystanders outside the police force began gossiping.

"What do you think happened to the Shimura clan? How did they end up asking Captain Kazuki of the Uchiha for help?"

"Who knows? But it takes some nerve to go to them knowing the two clans don't get along. Impressive, really."

"But they mentioned Lord Jiraiya. Is it really okay to refuse like that?"

"Who knows, but it's none of our business. Shh, stop talking, or the Uchiha might hear."

Damn it!!

This was too humiliating.

Being insulted, laughed at, and thrown out in front of everyone, the Shimura clan members felt utterly defeated. They even cursed Jiraiya in their hearts.

If it weren't for Jiraiya, would they have been reduced to this level of disgrace?

Unfortunately, they could only curse him internally. The Shimura clan couldn't afford to offend the Uchiha in the past, and now they definitely couldn't. Not to mention, Jiraiya was a big shot. The humiliated ninja could only report back obediently.

Luckily, they didn't have to take the blame—everything was Kazuki's fault.

"You're saying he refused to help and told you to get lost?"

"Yes..."

Going to seek help, even under orders from a big shot, only to be humiliated and thrown out, was a massive insult to the Shimura clan. But they were powerless against Kazuki.

Since the village's founding, the Shimura clan had never been so humiliated and frustrated.

This is a real problem.

"Alright, I got it. I'll think of something."

It seemed the Shimura clan wasn't going to be of any help. After saying goodbye to Tsume, Jiraiya went to the police force alone to find Kazuki.

When Jiraiya entered Kazuki's office, Kazuki teased him:

"What's this? Isn't Lord Jiraiya busy collecting material? Instead of helping the Shimura clan, you've come to the police force to relax."

"Lord Jiraiya, have some tea."

Although Jiraiya hadn't left a great impression on Izumi, his status wasn't ordinary, so basic hospitality was necessary. At least a cup of tea was in order.

Izumi brewed the tea, obediently left, and even closed the door on her way out.

"That girl's not bad, much cuter than you," Jiraiya couldn't help but compliment.

Screw you.

You're the cute one.

Kazuki ignored Jiraiya, continuing with his work. Jiraiya liked tea, didn't he? Well, he could drink to his heart's content! Helping was out of the question, especially if it involved investigating himself.

Kazuki said nothing, busying himself with his work. After a morning of drinking tea, Jiraiya finally finished his cup, and seeing that Kazuki had no intention of refilling it, he set the cup down.

"Kazuki, I need your help. This matter is quite tricky. If it gets serious, it could threaten the village's safety and even affect the Uchiha."

"Not interested." Kazuki replied without even looking up.

"..."

So you're not going to help? Fine, then I won't leave.

Jiraiya sat down in the office and decided to wait it out. Kazuki didn't care and continued with his work. After going through all the documents, reviewing, and stamping them, he finally stretched and gave Jiraiya a 'fine, you win' look.

"Alright, tell me what it's about. I can't guarantee I'll be of any help."

'Heh, I knew you'd give in eventually.' Jiraiya smiled smugly, then became serious and explained the situation.

"You're saying the person might specialize in genjutsu and also use space-time ninjutsu?"

How convenient!

Someone does know how to do that.

"Yes."

Jiraiya nodded seriously:

"Compared to external enemies, there are plenty of people in the village skilled in genjutsu, especially among the Uchiha. I'm worried the Uchiha will come under suspicion, so I want your help. Kazuki, you don't want the Uchiha to be wrongly accused by the village, do you?"

Oh, so you're threatening me now?

Well then, I guess I'll have to help!!!

An opportunity to mess with Obito? I can't miss this!

If I let this go, why did I bother with all this effort?

Kazuki dropped his playful attitude, sat up straight, and became serious.

Phew, thank goodness. At least this guy cares enough not to let the Uchiha or himself get caught up in suspicion.

If Kazuki had truly refused to help, Jiraiya would've had a headache.

Luckily, Kazuki understood the situation.

What a pity though—the culprit was sitting right in front of Jiraiya, and he had no idea. He even tried to seek help from him.

"You're right, many people are skilled in genjutsu, and there are quite a few in the village. The Uchiha would easily come under suspicion."

Kazuki's right hand, resting on the table, tapped lightly as he thought.

"Doesn't this scenario feel familiar to you?" Suddenly, Kazuki recalled something and stood up excitedly: "The Night of the Nine-Tails!!"

"Huh?"

"The Night of the Nine-Tails?"

Jiraiya's eyes widened in surprise, reacting even more dramatically than Kazuki.

"Yes, I knew something felt off! The mysterious figure from that night was skilled in genjutsu and could control the Nine-Tails, meaning his genjutsu was very strong. And he also used ninjutsu to easily pass through the village's barriers. If he wanted to enter Konoha, it would be effortless."
