Chapter 113: Chapter 113: Uchiha Mikoto

After a long pause, Yugao finally regained control of her body.

She struggled to her feet, her face still pale with lingering fear. What Uchiha Mirai had just demonstrated completely overturned her previous understanding of combat.

Yugao had always focused on perfecting her techniques, never considering other aspects of swordsmanship. Yet, after experiencing that overwhelming display, she felt as though her mind had been opened to new possibilities.

Much like how every ninja has their own path of ninjutsu, a swordsman, too, must hold steadfast to their beliefs!

With this realization, Yugao couldn't help but admire Uchiha Mirai even more.

As expected of Mirai-senpai. Just a few words from him, and my mindset has advanced to a whole new level!

"It needs to be cultivated continuously through real combat," Mirai said, gesturing for her to approach. "Never lose your fearless and progressive heart. Now, let me ask you again—are you ready to attack me?"

At his words, Yugao tightened her grip on her long blade and said resolutely, "Mirai-senpai, I'll fight you with everything I have. Be careful!"

The moment the words left her lips, Yugao disappeared from where she stood.

Clang!

A sharp strike was easily deflected by Mirai.

Undeterred, Yugao unleashed a flurry of attacks, her blade moving in intricate arcs, pouring all her skills into every swing.

Clang! Clang! Clang!

The sound of clashing steel echoed relentlessly, each impact sparking briefly before extinguishing.

Realizing her strikes had no effect, Yugao quickly retreated. She formed a series of hand seals with practiced speed.

"Shadow Clone Jutsu!"

Three identical clones appeared beside her, and with a determined shout, Yugao launched her next attack.

"Dance of the Crescent Moon!"

The clones surged toward Mirai from different angles at blinding speed. Yet, in mere moments, all three were effortlessly dispelled.

Yugao wasn't surprised. She had anticipated this outcome and had already leaped high into the air.

Descending from above, Yugao unleashed a torrent of blade afterimages, enveloping Mirai in a storm of strikes.

Ching!

A sharp metallic resonance rang out, and the illusions vanished as swiftly as they had appeared.

Yugao's blade had been caught—pinched tightly between Mirai's index and middle fingers, rendering it immovable.

Snap!

A crisp sound broke the silence. Her sword fractured cleanly in two.

"I… lost." Yugao murmured, her voice tinged with disbelief.

She had given her all, yet her defeat was absolute. However, instead of the reprimand she had braced for, Mirai gently helped her to her feet.

"Yugao, your techniques are impressive, but your fundamentals need work." His tone was calm but firm. "Even the tallest mountains require solid foundations to rise skyward. Focus on strengthening your basics. I'll personally guide you."

Hearing this, Yugao nodded vigorously. "I understand, Mirai-senpai. From today onward, I'll dedicate myself to perfecting my fundamentals!"

Mirai smiled faintly, patting her head. "It's good that you've realized this. At least my effort in teaching wasn't wasted."

"But insight alone isn't enough," he added. "A good blade can enhance its wielder's strength exponentially."

As he spoke, Mirai channeled his chakra, and a sharp, gleaming bone blade materialized from his palm.

"Take this blade," he said, handing it to her. "Consider it my apology for breaking your sword."

Yugao stared at the pale white weapon in awe, her mouth agape.

"Mirai-senpai, are you… really giving this to me?"

"Of course. Though it's made of bone, it's tougher and sharper than most ninja tools you'll find."

With trembling hands, Yugao accepted the blade, immediately noticing the unique marking etched onto it. As a close friend of Anko, she instantly recognized it—it was Mirai's Flying Thunder God seal.

By injecting chakra into the mark, Mirai could sense her location instantly. It was essentially a life-saving charm.

"Mirai-senpai, thank you!" she said, her voice brimming with gratitude.

This blade, created from Mirai-senpai's own bone, is far more valuable than Anko's 'golden sand kunai!'

Now, she wouldn't have to endure Anko's endless bragging anymore. Who would be envious of whom was about to change!

"Alright," Mirai said, stepping back. "Let's start refining your basic movements."

"Understood!" Yugao immediately began practicing with her new blade, moving through her stances one by one.

Mirai stood beside her, adjusting her posture whenever needed.

"Straighten your arms!"

"Yes!"

"Tighten your core!"

"Yes!"

"Flatten your thighs!"

"Huh?"

"Don't stick out your rear!"

"..."

"Open your chest!"

"Ahh, Mirai-senpai!!!"

By the time Mirai returned home, the sky was already dark.

Young girls are full of energy, he mused with a wry smile, but they're not ripe yet. At least another year or two is needed before they're ready.

Suppressing his restless thoughts, Mirai shook his head and headed into his home. As usual, he cooked himself a simple meal and meditated after eating.

It wasn't until late at night that he finished his routine and prepared for bed.

Just as he slipped on his sleeping robe, a faint knock echoed from his front door.

Frowning slightly, Mirai's mind stirred, and he appeared instantly in the courtyard.

Opening the door, he was met by a woman with long, soft black hair and a gentle demeanor. In her arms, she cradled a sleeping infant.

The woman's pale face forced a weak smile as she spoke.

"Mirai… may I come in for a moment?"

Mirai stepped aside to let her in.

He recognized her immediately—Uchiha Mikoto, wife of Uchiha Fugaku, the clan leader. The child in her arms must be their newborn son, Uchiha Sasuke.

But why had she come to him at this hour?

Although he couldn't fathom her reason, he didn't press her. If she intended to plead for Fugaku, however, she was wasting her time.

Back in the room, Mikoto carefully set Sasuke down before kneeling on the floor and bowing deeply.

"Mirai," she said, her voice trembling, "no matter what grievances exist between you and Fugaku, I beg you—please spare him!"
