At the same time...
In a forest echoing with the sounds of battle under the night sky:
"Swoosh!" "Swoosh!" "Swoosh!" With the sharp sound of kunai piercing through the air in the jungle, followed by a series of agonizing screams, the noise of bodies hitting the ground echoed.
High up on a distant tree, a Hidden Stone ninja concealed himself in the shadows, his face pale and filled with fear as he listened to the screams coming from the forest.
To him, what was supposed to be the forest where they ambushed the Leaf ninja now felt like a terrifying beast, ready to swallow everything whole.
The ominous atmosphere of death under the cover of darkness made his heart tremble with fear.
If you stay in this place, you will die without even knowing why!
At that moment, something flashed before his eyes, making his pupils contract suddenly.
"Swoosh!"
Under the moonlight, a cold gleam suddenly shot towards him!
Terrified, the Hidden Stone ninja dodged just in time!
"Clang!"
A strange-shaped kunai embedded itself fiercely into the thick tree trunk behind him.
Without any warning, a figure suddenly appeared on the tree!
His body was parallel to the ground, crouching lightly with his feet pressing on the thick tree trunk, maintaining perfect balance in this crouching stance.
Under the pale moonlight, you could see his blond hair hanging slightly, his calm face speckled with blood, a far cry from the usual gentle smile he once wore.
It all seemed to happen in slow motion.
The Hidden Stone ninja's contracted pupils, the lingering terror on his face, and the young man's cold hand wielding the kunai, drawing a perfect arc—all unfolded in an instant.
"Thud!"
Bright red blood gushed from the Hidden Stone ninja's throat. He clutched his neck in disbelief, terror etched across his face.
"Plop!"
Under the young man's cold gaze, the ninja's body fell from the tree and hit the ground, lifeless.
The blond young man watched it all with a calm expression, showing no emotion.
"Boom—"
Just then, from the direction of the Hidden Leaf Village, a loud crash resounded like thunder, shaking the ground even from a distance.
Hearing the commotion, the blond young man's calm face showed a slight reaction, as though life returned to him. His blue eyes turned toward the direction of the village, concern flashing in his gaze.
Had the enemy already breached the village? But Jiraiya-sensei and the others are on their way back. I hope they make it in time. For now, I just need to deal with the enemies in this area quickly.
With that thought, the concern faded from his face. He turned his cold gaze back to the dark forest, blue eyes flashing with an icy intent.
At the same time…
As the Leaf ninja fought against the Hidden Stone and Hidden Sand forces, another group of individuals casually made their way toward the Leaf Village in a different part of the forest.
This group was dressed in matching black and white attire, each figure distinct in appearance and expression.
One had a concealed face with piercing green eyes, another crawled along the ground in an odd manner, while others wore indifferent expressions, their eyes calm as if nothing could stir them. Some carried an air of arrogance, their gaze wild and disdainful, radiating a sense of invasion and contempt.
Only the tall figure leading the group maintained a serene smile on his face, his deep eyes seemingly piercing through everything, filled with interest and confidence. His stance, as if everything was under his control, exuded a powerful aura of assurance.
Their blatant march under the moonlight caught the attention of the Hidden Leaf ninja lurking in the shadows of the nearby forest.
A squad of Leaf ninja, just passing through, halted and observed the group in silence.
"Who are they!? Are they allies of the Hidden Stone and Hidden Sand?" one Leaf ninja asked gravely.
Given that the Leaf Village was under attack, none of them could relax, their minds tense as they guarded their home.
"Whoever they are, heading straight toward the village at this crucial time, they must be our enemies! Captain Kiumu, let's take them down!" A young ninja spoke to the squad leader, Captain Kiumu, who hadn't said a word since the group appeared.
However, upon hearing his words, their highly respected Captain Kiumu trembled slightly, turning his head slowly. The squad was shocked by his expression.
"Captain Kiumu, what's wrong!?"
The senior ninja was sweating profusely, his lips pale, fear evident in his eyes.
"He… He's back. The intel was right… He really came back."
Hearing Captain Kiumu's trembling words, the squad exchanged confused glances, not understanding what was happening.
"Captain Kiumu, what are you talking about? Who came back!?" The young ninja asked, utterly bewildered.
He couldn't fathom what could have caused the Captain they so respected to react this way.
"Aizen… Aizen-sama, he's back!!" Captain Kiumu's eyes suddenly cleared as he grabbed the young ninja's arm in a rush, his voice urgent.
"Quick, we have to return to the village and notify everyone! Aizen-sama has returned!" Hearing Captain Kiumu's words, the young Leaf ninja's eyes widened, and they looked back toward the scene.
In the front of the group, Aizen's lips curved into a calm smile. His brown hair was swept back, his confident posture unmistakable. Suddenly, Aizen tilted his head slightly, glancing toward the hidden Leaf ninja's position with a smile.
Just that one glance nearly stopped the hearts of the concealed Leaf ninja. All words stuck in their throats, and none dared even blink. In that fleeting moment, it felt as though an eternity had passed. Aizen's serene, deep gaze imprinted itself into their minds
It was only after Aizen and his group disappeared from view that the Leaf ninja came back to their senses, their bodies almost collapsing from the pressure.
"Was… Was that the traitor? No… The former Fourth Hokage Sōsuke-sama? His presence… it was terrifying."
A pale-faced ninja said, feeling as though he had narrowly escaped death.
