Chapter 112: Chapter 112: Direct Action
Time passed gradually, and soon it was September of the 52nd year of Konohagakure.
Back in July, they had devised a plan to deal with Danzo and Orochimaru. Now, after two months, the perfect opportunity had finally arrived.
During this time, the number of missing persons in the village had skyrocketed, and reports to the police force surged well beyond the usual numbers.
Based on Uchiha Akira's observations with the Byakugan, a significant number of these missing individuals were traced to either the Root's laboratory or Orochimaru's personal lab.
Police Force Headquarters – Leader's Office
Gathered here were the elite members of the Uchiha clan, individuals whom they could trust implicitly. Their eyes were fixed on the luminous spiritual form of Akira, waiting for Fugaku's command.
As Akira's glowing spirit returned to his body, his physical form slowly opened its eyes.
"How did it go?" Fugaku asked.
"Orochimaru is in his lab," Akira replied, a trace of disappointment evident in his tone.
Root had its own research lab, and Orochimaru had his. While Danzo entrusted Orochimaru with transplanting cells from Senju Hashirama, that didn't mean Danzo had ceased conducting his own experiments.
On the contrary, aside from studying Wood Release, Root was involved in many forbidden experiments, most of which involved human subjects.
Akira had hoped to catch Orochimaru red-handed in Root's laboratory, where the evidence would be undeniable, leaving no room for argument.
However, the current situation didn't align with their initial plan, forcing them to adapt.
"How about splitting into two teams?" Fugaku suggested.
The decision to act had been made, and there was no room for hesitation.
Under the current circumstances, storming both the Root and Orochimaru's laboratories would ultimately bring the truth to light. However, breaking into Root's lab was far more challenging than Orochimaru's. Root was heavily fortified, whereas Orochimaru's lab, being a more clandestine operation, lacked comparable defenses.
"That won't be necessary," Akira said with a smile. "We'll all head to Orochimaru's lab. Capturing him alive and presenting him directly to Hiruzen Sarutobi will allow us to enter Root openly afterward. With concrete evidence in hand, neither Orochimaru nor Danzo will escape justice!"
"That does seem like the better plan," Fugaku mused, stroking his chin thoughtfully. He nodded slowly. "But we must move swiftly to prevent Hiruzen from delaying. The moment we secure Orochimaru, we must strike at Root without hesitation."
"Of course!" Akira affirmed with a determined nod.
With their plan settled, Fugaku led over twenty Uchiha police force members in a bold march toward Orochimaru's lab.
Their movements didn't go unnoticed.
Villagers, seeing the unusual mobilization of the Uchiha clan, whispered amongst themselves.
"What's happening? Why is the Uchiha clan moving with such a large force? Did an enemy from another village infiltrate?"
"Someone in the village must've committed a grave offense for this kind of response."
"Do you think it's one of the higher-ups? I heard the number of missing persons in the village has spiked recently…"
"Among the high-ranking individuals, it could only be Orochimaru. But… no way, right?"
"Don't speak nonsense…"
The commotion was quickly reported to the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi.
Standing by the window, Hiruzen frowned, muttering to himself.
"What is the Uchiha clan planning? And why hasn't Shisui reported anything about this?"
Unbeknownst to him, Shisui hadn't been informed. This was a sudden decision, not something meticulously premeditated.
Hiruzen knew the Uchiha wouldn't mobilize like this without cause. Yet, he had no idea what was happening and felt powerless to intervene.
"There aren't many within the village who could warrant such a response. Among the high-ranking individuals, it could only be Orochimaru or Danzo… Could it be Orochimaru?"
The thought made his expression darken.
He connected this situation with the recent surge of missing persons in the village. Anxiety gnawed at him. Among his three students, Orochimaru worried him the most.
Hiruzen had long known of Orochimaru's unorthodox ambitions. He was well aware of his student's obsession with immortality.
"This past month, Orochimaru and Danzo seem to have grown closer… Could it be…"
An ominous premonition stirred within him.
If Orochimaru was implicated in something, Danzo's involvement would likely follow. Despite their friendship, Hiruzen knew Danzo's hands weren't clean.
"Is the Uchiha clan targeting Danzo this time?" Hiruzen muttered, furrowing his brows.
Danzo, as an advisor entrenched in Konoha's power structure, wasn't someone easily dethroned by minor transgressions. But if he was caught violating the village's taboos, even he wouldn't escape unscathed.
"Orochimaru… Don't let me down," Hiruzen whispered as he stared out the window, silently praying.
Knowing he couldn't prevent what was coming, he sent an Anbu team to observe from a distance.

Orochimaru's Laboratory – Entrance
Though Orochimaru's lab was well-hidden, Akira had already scouted it thoroughly with his Byakugan.
The lab was located underground, just outside the village's core residential area, nestled within a forest.
Arriving at a damp rock wall, Fugaku gestured for the group to halt.
"Akira, it's your turn," Fugaku said, stepping aside to give him space.
Akira stepped forward and pressed his hand against the rock wall. With a light push, a crisp cracking sound echoed through the cave.
The wall split apart, revealing a doorway-sized opening. Bright light spilled out, illuminating the cavern.
What lay before them was a sprawling laboratory filled with cylindrical tanks of pale green fluid. Inside each tank floated lifeless bodies—infants, young children, and teenagers alike.
There were hundreds of them.
