Chapter 240: Chapter 240: Puppet—The Child's Most Insignificant Means
"Although I can't kill you, I can poison your people, and that's enough."
Such a person is a huge threat when alive, not to mention after death.
After being made into a puppet, they become unafraid of injury or death. The mere thought of it is terrifying. What's even more alarming is that even after death, they can self-destruct—like a super gas bomb waiting to detonate.
"Alright, maybe I don't have a sense of humor," The Hokage said helplessly, setting down the pipe in his mouth.
"In short, it's that simple. Actually, the one expressing this is not me—I'm just a messenger."
Raikage sneered sarcastically. "The so-called dignified Hokage can't even control himself. Mizukage, the longer you live, the more you regress."
The Hokage was unfazed. He had already expected ridicule from others, so he came mentally prepared.
Faced with Raikage's mockery, The Hokage smiled calmly and said, "I can't help it. I hurt this child's heart with some stupid decisions. He resents me, and I understand. Besides, this child has strength that even I must respect.
"When he killed the demigod Hanzo, he didn't rely on puppets. It was a single, direct confrontation. The puppets are just his surface-level tactic, a facade. Do you understand?"
The room fell silent.
Raikage had been prepared to mock the Hokage further, but he was stunned into silence.
The puppets are just a facade?
If this was true, then this individual's power was far beyond what they had anticipated.
Killing the Salamander Hanzo in one confrontation? Even Sarutobi might not dare to dream of such an accomplishment.
the Hokage watched the stunned faces of the other four Kage and smiled proudly. "You mock me, but let me tell you—we have a great god in Konoha. Laugh all you want. Tell me—aren't you envious?"
The other Kage exchanged uneasy glances.
If what the Hokage said was true, they needed to reassess Konoha's power and the threat level of this individual.
Raikage muttered to himself, "If this is true, then we're dealing with a significant problem. Shinki's strength is undeniable, especially if he could kill Hanzo with ease. And combined with those puppets and their mysterious self-detonation abilities, it's no wonder Konoha is untouchable."
The Hokage, however, seemed indifferent to their doubts. "If I hadn't been blind a few years ago and trusted the wrong people, if I hadn't hurt this child's heart, he might have entered the battlefield with full force. Had that happened, this war would have ended in a devastating explosion."
The Mizukage, Raikage, and Kazekage listened in silence, each processing the implications.
The Mizukage whispered to Raikage, "The puppets alone are terrifying enough, but this revelation changes everything. Konoha's trump card is more dangerous than we thought."
Kazekage, seething with frustration, clenched the scroll in his hand. Konoha's surprise attack on the Sand Village had left them in ruins, and they were now being forced into negotiations under humiliating conditions.
Raikage, sensing Kazekage's anger, smirked. "Kazekage, there's no point in being angry. We're here to vote. Let's end this pointless Five Kage Summit."
Kazekage exhaled heavily, releasing the scroll. "The Sand Village can't afford to compensate Konoha at this level," he said reluctantly.
Mizukage laughed lightly. "Kazekage, the question isn't whether you can afford it. It's whether you agree. The details of your village's finances are not our concern."
Kazekage gritted his teeth. There was no way out. "I agree."
"Good," said Mizukage with a smile, then turned to the others. "Raikage? Ohnoki?"
Raikage shrugged. "I agree. Better to pay now than deal with worse later. Those puppets are too dangerous to underestimate."
Kazekage remained silent, his fury barely contained. It wasn't just the money—it was the knowledge that Konoha's power was now insurmountable.
Ohnoki nodded reluctantly. "Fine. I agree as well."
Mizukage, satisfied, turned to Kazekage. "Then it's settled. Compensation will be paid to Konoha."
Kazekage clenched his fists. Revenge on Konoha felt like an impossible dream now. Their defeat had been absolute, and their only option was to rebuild what was left of the Sand Village.
All of this because of Shinki, Kazekage thought bitterly. A single individual brought us to our knees.
As the Kage dispersed, the Hokage's words echoed in their minds:
"We have a great god in Konoha. Laugh all you want—but aren't you envious?"
