Chapter 355: Chapter 355: The Nobles' Arrival and Chaos Ensues

The Konoha ninjas tasked with protecting the Daimyo were now in a peculiar situation. While their mission was to ensure the Daimyo's safety, they never anticipated he would flee his mansion in a panic. Despite the chaos, their primary duty—keeping the Daimyo alive—had been fulfilled.

The nobles of the Daimyo's mansion, following the example of their leader, decided to flee as well, bringing their families and guards with them. None dared to stay behind, fearing they might be the next victims of the mysterious assassins.

A Wave of Panic

The assassins? No one cared about them anymore. Tracking them down could wait. For now, survival was the priority. The nobles intended to find safety in Konoha and let its ninjas handle the investigation at their leisure.

This mass exodus left the Daimyo's mansion in utter disarray. The prominent nobles, unaccustomed to hardship, saw no real distinction between living in the mansion or Konoha—except that the latter seemed far safer.

Konoha's Surprise

The Third Hokage and Shimura Danzo were caught entirely off guard. Neither had anticipated such an extreme reaction.

"Danzo, I told you to create a sense of crisis for the Daimyo, not scare every noble in the mansion into fleeing to Konoha!" the Third Hokage exclaimed, barely able to contain his frustration.

Danzo, however, remained unfazed. "This wasn't my doing. The Daimyo and his nobles are cowards. They panicked and ran. Their lack of composure has nothing to do with me!"

The Third Hokage sighed, trying to calm himself. While Danzo technically hadn't done anything wrong, the consequences were now Konoha's problem. A flood of nobles arriving with their families and guards had plunged the village into logistical chaos.

Logistical Nightmares

If these nobles had come at a better time, the Third Hokage might have welcomed them. Nobles brought wealth, which could boost Konoha's economy. However, the timing couldn't have been worse. The village was still recovering from the war, and resources were already stretched thin.

Housing these nobles was the first challenge. Konoha lacked sufficient accommodations for such a sudden influx of high-maintenance individuals.

The next issue was material consumption. Unlike ordinary civilians, the nobles demanded luxury items, placing immense pressure on Konoha's logistical supplies.

"What's going on, Danzo?" the Third Hokage asked, his tone sharper than usual.

Danzo shrugged nonchalantly. "Let them pay for what they want. If Konoha is short on supplies, send caravans to purchase more from neighboring countries. The Fire Nation isn't short on resources, so why should we struggle to meet their demands?"

The Third Hokage nearly laughed in disbelief. "Danzo, have you completely lost touch with reality? These aren't ordinary supplies we're dealing with!"

The nobles' demands were outrageous. They wanted specific delicacies, such as a rare cut of beef from the Land of Lightning, fresh shrimp from the sea, and exotic fruits from the Land of Demons—all of which had to be delivered fresh.

To make matters worse, some nobles had even requested deer meat from the Nara clan, a sacred animal regarded as partners by the clan, not livestock.

Danzo's Assignment

"Fine, Danzo," the Third Hokage said with a wry smile, shoving a file into his arms. "Since you're so confident, I'll leave this matter to you."

Danzo, caught off guard by the Hokage's sudden departure, opened the file. As he read the nobles' requests, the veins on his forehead began to throb.

"This… This is absurd!" Danzo muttered, his face turning livid.

The document outlined the specific demands of the nobles in excruciating detail. From rare meats to exotic fruits, their requests seemed more fitting for a royal banquet than a refugee crisis.

The Nara clan, particularly enraged by the demand for their sacred deer, considered kicking the nobles out of Konoha themselves.

"We didn't see them make such absurd demands while living in the Daimyo's mansion!" one Nara elder grumbled.

Danzo, seething with frustration, tore the file to shreds. "Send the caravans! Purchase whatever they want! I don't care anymore!"
