Chapter 15: Chapter 15: Establishment of Team Three
On a bright and sunny morning, the fresh graduates of Class Three gathered at a lookout spot overlooking the heart of Konoha. The vibrant energy of the village below seemed to match the excitement—mixed with curiosity—felt by the young genin.
Might Guy stood before his team with his trademark dazzling smile and green tights. "Welcome to the establishment of Team Three! From today, we shall walk the path of youth and passion together! This observation deck will be our meeting spot from now on."
Guy's dramatic proclamation made Rock Lee beam with excitement, Tenten look skeptical, and Kirito barely suppress a smirk.
Aspirations and Dreams
"To get started," Guy continued, "share your dreams with me! What is the fire in your youth?"
Tenten eagerly raised her hand. "Me first, Sensei! I want to become a great ninja like the legendary Tsunade-sama!" Her voice brimmed with enthusiasm.
Guy nodded approvingly. "A splendid goal, Tenten! With hard work, it is within your grasp!"
He turned to Kirito, who sat quietly with his ever-present little leopard perched on his shoulder. "And you, Kirito? What is your goal?"
Kirito answered without hesitation. "To enjoy life."
Guy's teeth sparkled as he clapped his hands together. "Yes! Youth is about savoring every moment without regret! Excellent, Kirito!"
Kirito internally sighed. "He completely missed the point."
Finally, Guy turned to Rock Lee. "And you, Lee?"
Standing at attention, Lee shouted, "I want to prove that even if I cannot use ninjutsu or genjutsu, I can still become a great ninja through hard work! My goal is to surpass geniuses like Kirito and Neji!"
The determination in Lee's voice silenced the group. Even Tenten and Kirito were taken aback for a moment.
Kirito gave Lee an amused glance. "Good luck with that."
"Thank you! I will do my best!" Lee's reply was so earnest that Kirito decided to hold back further comments.
Enter Kakashi
"To truly understand the spirit of competition, I have invited my eternal rival to join us today!" Guy announced proudly.
The words "eternal rival" instantly made Kirito's mind flash to a certain silver-haired shinobi with a penchant for being late. His suspicions were confirmed when Hatake Kakashi strolled onto the scene, his face buried in a book.
"Kakashi, you're late! Seventeen minutes and thirty-two seconds!" Guy shouted.
Kakashi lazily waved his hand, not bothering to look up from his novel. "Let's skip the theatrics. What's the challenge this time?"
"We'll have a showdown to determine who holds the lead! This is our 97th competition!" Guy declared.
"Sure," Kakashi replied dryly. "Let's do something simple. Rock-paper-scissors."
"Rock-paper-scissors?" Guy's dramatic flair faltered for a moment. "Kakashi, where is the youthful fire in that?"
"It's a battle of reflexes, insight, and strategy," Kakashi said without missing a beat. "Luck is a skill too, isn't it?"
Reluctantly, Guy agreed. The two squared off while the newly formed squad watched with varying degrees of amusement.
"Rock, paper, scissors!" they shouted in unison.
Kakashi threw scissors. Guy threw paper.
Guy froze, staring at his hand in disbelief. "No! I lost!"
Kakashi shrugged. "Looks like I win this one."
"You're incredible, Kakashi," Guy admitted with surprising grace. Then, with a dramatic bow, he declared, "As promised, I will handstand around Konoha five hundred times!"
Disbanding for the Day
"Sensei, isn't that a bit much?" Tenten asked, watching Guy prepare to leave.
"Nonsense!" Guy replied with a thumbs-up. "A true ninja honors their word. Besides, it's a chance to celebrate my youthful vigor!"
With that, Guy darted off, leaving his students to reflect on their first day as a team.
"I think I'll follow Sensei to cheer him on," Lee said, already jogging after Guy.
"I need to let my family know about my placement," Tenten added. "What about you, Kirito?"
Kirito adjusted the small leopard on his shoulder. "I'm going to the training grounds to warm up. Sensei probably has something planned for us tomorrow."
With that, the team parted ways, each member heading off with a mixture of curiosity and determination about what their new team would bring.
Looking Ahead
As Kirito walked toward the training grounds, he reflected on the whirlwind day. He had joined the legendary Might Guy's team, gained two unique teammates, and witnessed firsthand the comedic yet inspiring rivalry between Guy and Kakashi. For the first time in a long while, he felt genuine anticipation for the journey ahead.
"Let's see where this road takes us."
