Naruto: The Tale of an Otsutsuki

Chapter 23: Chapter 23: Youthful Struggle

On the outskirts of Konoha Village, Guy was leading his students in a grueling long-distance run while shouting his signature slogans. "Youth! Struggle! Youth…"

The goal was 3,000 laps, and they were only at 1,300. Despite the challenge, Rock Lee followed close behind Guy, panting but determined. Kirito and TenTen trailed behind, each pushing themselves to their limits.

"Ha… struggle… ha…" TenTen, her energy nearly spent, buried herself in the effort, her breathing ragged. Kirito stayed close, ready to catch her if she faltered.

Finally, TenTen reached her limit and collapsed, unable to continue running.

"Well, if you can't complete the 3,000 laps, you'll have to do 5,000 push-ups instead," Guy announced with unwavering enthusiasm before dropping to the ground and beginning his push-ups. "One, two, three, four…"

"I won't lose, Sensei!" Rock Lee immediately joined in, matching Guy's energy. "One, two, three, four…"

After a brief rest, TenTen reluctantly followed suit. "One, two, three…"

Since their last mission, Guy had been putting his team through relentless Spartan-style physical training after every D-rank mission. This included long-distance running, intense push-ups, and sparring in a state of complete exhaustion. Under this rigorous regimen, both TenTen and Rock Lee showed significant improvement in physical strength and endurance.

For Kirito, however, the training was less effective. His unique physiology left him tireless, making the usual methods of pushing physical limits almost meaningless. As a result, Guy tailored his training to have Kirito spar against him directly, acting as a training partner for Lee and TenTen while refining his own combat techniques.

At the training ground, Kirito was sparring with TenTen. When he caught her punch, he quickly grabbed her wrist, pivoted on his toes, and tossed her to the ground.

"Ha!" Rock Lee, still exhausted but unwilling to give up, swung a powerful kick toward Kirito's head.

Kirito ducked under Lee's foot and caught his ankle mid-air. Before he could execute the same throw he used on TenTen, Lee used the grab as leverage, spinning his body like a propeller and striking at Kirito with his other foot.

Kirito raised his arm to block the kick. The impact sent a jolt up his arm, but it wasn't enough to faze him. Taking advantage of Lee's suspended position, Kirito countered with a strike that sent Lee sprawling onto the grass beside TenTen.

"I won't give up!" Lee struggled to his feet, trembling but resolute, and charged at Kirito again.

Moments later, Lee collapsed, unable to continue.

Kirito turned his attention to Guy, who was observing nearby. "Your turn, Sensei."

"It's always amazing how tireless you are, Kirito," Guy said, shaking his head in awe. "Alright, come at me!"

Kirito launched into a sprint and leaped at Guy with a powerful kick. "Power Prelude!"

Guy sidestepped the attack effortlessly. "Too slow. Focusing your strength is important, but it's meaningless if you can't land a hit."

Kirito adjusted quickly, spinning on his grounded foot and aiming another kick at Guy's torso. "Leaf Whirlwind!"

This time, Guy caught Kirito's foot mid-air. "Good power! Remember this feeling. With proper technique, you can achieve this level of force without relying on raw strength."

"Yes, Sensei!" Kirito responded, continuing to hone his skills as the sparring session stretched into the evening.

By the time the sun began to set, Guy finally called for a halt. "That's enough for today."

Recognizing that Guy had reached his physical limit, Kirito turned to Lee and TenTen. "Do either of you want to continue?"

"No, no, no!" they both replied, shaking their heads in unison.

Guy clapped his hands together. "Very good! Let's call it a day. Disband!"

As they prepared to leave, TenTen approached Guy hesitantly. "Sensei, Tsunade-sama isn't just known for her strange power and physical skills, right? Doesn't she have other specialties?"

Guy nodded. "That's correct. In addition to her physical prowess, Tsunade-sama is a renowned medical ninja. They say there's no illness or injury she can't heal."

Hearing this, TenTen's face lit up. "Sensei, can you teach me medical ninjutsu?"

"Medical ninjutsu?" Lee asked, puzzled by her sudden request.

TenTen sighed. "Even though I've been training hard, I feel like I'm not improving much. I don't think I have the talent for physical skills or strange power."

Guy hesitated. "Well, I'm not exactly qualified to teach medical ninjutsu…"

"What can you teach, then?" TenTen asked eagerly.

Guy smiled brightly. "I can teach you about energy and will! That's the foundation of all youth!"

Kirito, standing nearby, stifled a laugh. Of course he'd say that.

"What…" TenTen's shoulders slumped in exasperation. Even Lee seemed to have given up listening at this point.

Guy, however, grew serious. "But your enthusiasm for medical ninjutsu is admirable! This is youth! I'll talk to the medical corps about training you."

TenTen's face lit up again. "Really? Thank you, Sensei!"

Guy nodded. "Having a medical ninja in a team can make a world of difference. It's a practical and invaluable skill."

Hearing this, Kirito chimed in. "Sensei, could you recommend me for medical training as well?"

"You, Kirito?" Guy asked, surprised. "Aren't you focused on Strong Fist techniques?"

"I can train in those on my own at night," Kirito replied. "I'm genuinely interested in medical ninjutsu, and this is an opportunity I don't want to miss."

Guy grinned. "That's the spirit! Youth is all about trying new things and pushing boundaries!"

As they left the training ground, TenTen hummed happily, her spirits lifted by the prospect of learning medical ninjutsu.

Kirito walked beside her, pondering silently. Should I tell her the truth? He vaguely remembered that in the future, there were no accounts of TenTen mastering medical ninjutsu. Maybe it's better to let her figure it out herself.

TenTen, noticing Kirito's thoughtful expression, asked, "What's on your mind?"

"Nothing much," Kirito replied with a small smile. "Just thinking about how determined you seem. It's inspiring."

"Of course! I'm not going to let this chance slip away!" TenTen clenched her fists in determination. "Tsunade-sama's legacy isn't impossible to achieve. I'll make it happen."

Kirito chuckled. "Well, good luck. But don't push yourself too hard. It's okay to take things one step at a time."

"I know. But I'm serious about this." TenTen's voice carried a newfound confidence.

"Alright," Kirito said, glancing up at the darkening sky. "We'll see where this path takes you. Just remember, we're all here to support each other."

As the team parted ways for the night, each of them carried their own ambitions and uncertainties. The bonds they were building and the struggles they faced together were shaping them into something greater.
