Naruto: The Tale of an Otsutsuki

Chapter 31: Chapter 31: Rescue and Rampage

In the early morning of the second day of the Chunin Exam, Kirito and Rock Lee prepared to act. With no updates from Anko or the Third Hokage regarding Karin, they decided to address Sakura and her team's predicament first.

"Lee, the enemy this time is very strong," Kirito warned as they leapt from branch to branch through the dense forest. "Be careful not to get caught off guard."

"Don't worry, Kirito. I will save Sakura! She will see my passion and strength!" Lee's eyes burned with determination. "No one is allowed to harm her!"

Before leaving, Kirito had explained the dire situation: Sakura was struggling to protect the unconscious Sasuke and Naruto, and they were under attack by formidable opponents. Upon hearing this, Lee didn't hesitate to join the rescue.

TenTen and Karin stayed behind at the central tower. While Lee was eager for the challenge, not everyone shared his enthusiasm for high-risk situations, and someone needed to remain at the tower to await updates about Karin.

Soon, Kirito and Lee reached the tree hole where Sakura had taken refuge. From their perch, they observed a grim scene.

Sakura lay on the ground, her face bloodied, as a black-haired girl stepped on her mercilessly. A bandaged ninja moved toward the tree hole, intent on reaching Sasuke and Naruto. Nearby, the defeated members of Team 10—Ino, Shikamaru, and Choji—were guarded by another ninja in khaki garb, boasting loudly about his plan to kill Sasuke.

"Lee," Kirito said, patting his shoulder, "this is your moment. Go save the day."

"Yes, sir!" Lee leapt forward with lightning speed.

"Leaf Whirlwind!" he shouted, landing a powerful kick on the bandaged ninja, Dosu, and sending him flying. Without pausing, Lee dashed to the ninja guarding Team 10, Zaku, and kicked him away as well.

Finally, he turned to the girl standing over Sakura. Before she could react, Lee was in front of her, delivering a swift kick that sent her tumbling backward.

"Who are you?!" Dosu roared, scrambling to his feet.

Striking a dramatic pose, Lee declared, "I am Konoha's beautiful green beast, Rock Lee!"

"Thank you…" Sakura whispered, struggling to her feet. "Why are you here?"

"I will always appear when you're in danger," Lee replied gallantly. "I promised to protect you with my life."

Behind his confident demeanor, Lee silently celebrated. Teacher Guy, I did it! Thank you, Kirito, for this chance!

Dosu, now furious, turned to Zaku. "He's strong, but I'll handle him. You focus on the mission and take out Sasuke!"

"Got it."

As Dosu charged at Lee, he activated the devices on his armguards, designed to amplify his attacks with air pressure.

Lee, undeterred, untied the bandages on his arms. "I can't afford distractions now. I must protect what's most important!"

With incredible speed, Lee evaded Dosu's strikes and kicked him into the air. Following up with the Shadow of the Dancing Leaf, Lee wrapped Dosu in his bandages and launched them both into a spinning descent.

"Primary Lotus!"

The impact was devastating. Dosu crashed into the ground headfirst and lay motionless.

"Impossible…" Zaku muttered, stunned by Dosu's defeat. He turned his attention to Kirito, deciding to eliminate him first.

"200% air pressure! Ultrasonic Wave: Sky Shredder!" Zaku shouted, releasing a powerful shockwave.

The blast ripped through the air, creating a deep crater and scattering debris.

"Hahaha! Got him!" Zaku laughed, assuming Kirito had been obliterated.

But when the dust cleared, Kirito was nowhere to be seen. Instead, a cold breeze swept through the area.

"What's going on?" Shikamaru muttered, noticing the sudden drop in temperature.

Behind Zaku, frost began to coalesce, forming a humanoid figure. Before Zaku could react, an icy hand gripped his head.

Kirito's voice was calm and cold. "You've done enough damage. Frozen Moment."

Frost spread rapidly over Zaku's body, encasing him in ice. His expression of terror was frozen in place.

"Dead…?" Ino whispered, horrified.

Kirito glanced at Kin, the remaining enemy. Panicked, she threw down a smoke bomb and fled.

"Let her go," Lee said.

Sakura staggered toward Kirito, only to pause as a surge of violent chakra erupted from the tree hole.

"Sasuke!" she cried, relieved to see him awake. But her relief turned to fear as she noticed the black markings spreading across his body.

"Sakura, who hurt you?" Sasuke demanded, his Sharingan blazing.

"It's fine, Sasuke! Lee and Kirito already defeated them," Sakura tried to reassure him.

Ignoring her, Sasuke turned to Kirito. "Good. I've never felt this strong before. Let's see if you can handle me!"

"Sasuke, stop!" Sakura shouted, but Sasuke lunged at Kirito, aiming a kick at his abdomen.

To his surprise, his foot passed through Kirito's icy form, leaving frost on his leg.

"What?!" Sasuke quickly formed hand seals. "Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu!"

A massive fireball engulfed Kirito, its heat searing the air.

When the flames dissipated, Kirito stood unharmed, his body slowly reforming from ice. With a single motion, he reached out and gripped Sasuke's neck.

Sasuke struggled, unable to break free. The frost spreading from Kirito's touch sapped his chakra and strength.

"Stop! Don't hurt him!" Sakura pleaded, rushing forward.

Kirito turned to her with a faint smile. "Relax. I'm only suppressing the curse mark."

As the dark chakra faded, Sasuke collapsed, breathing heavily.

"Thank you…" Sakura said, overwhelmed.

"You should find Kakashi after this exam," Kirito advised. "He can help Sasuke suppress the curse mark permanently."

After healing Sakura and the members of Team 10, Kirito woke Naruto.

"Where's the enemy?!" Naruto shouted, jumping to his feet.

Ignoring him, Lee approached Sasuke. "I wanted to challenge you, but not when you're like this. We'll fight another time."

Then, turning to Sakura, he declared, "I'll defeat Sasuke to prove my strength to you!"

Sakura offered him a polite smile, unsure how to respond.

As Kirito and Lee prepared to leave, Kirito gave one final piece of advice. "Sakura, Sasuke, be careful. This exam is only going to get harder."

Watching them go, Sakura reflected on the strength of this year's candidates. For the first time, she began to doubt whether she was truly ready for the challenges ahead.
