Chapter 67: Chapter 67: To the Land of Snow
"The Great Adventure of Princess Fuun... I really want to see it," Tenten murmured, her excitement evident as the team traveled to meet their client.
"We can go watch it after the mission is over," Kirito suggested, walking alongside her while flipping through a thick book.
"Really?" Tenten's eyes lit up.
"Sure," Kirito replied without looking up.
I've been in Konoha so long that I almost forgot they had cinemas. Now the question is... does this world have milk tea? Kirito mused as he continued reading.
"What are you reading?" Tenten asked, leaning closer. "You've had your nose in that book since morning."
Kirito handed it to her. "This is a medical ninjutsu manual from Tsunade-sama. It's part of my training."
Tenten flipped through a few pages, her face quickly scrunching in confusion. "This looks so complicated... Why did Tsunade-sama give you this?"
"I forgot to mention," Kirito said casually, "I'm now her apprentice. She's teaching me medical ninjutsu."
Tenten gasped. "What?! When did that happen? And what about training with Guy-sensei?"
"Nothing's changed," Kirito assured her. "I'll train with her when I have time, but I'll still take missions with Team Guy as usual."
"That's amazing!" Tenten said, visibly relieved. Then her excitement dimmed. "Too bad I don't have a knack for medical ninjutsu..."
Kirito patted her shoulder. "You've found your own path, haven't you? Focus on becoming a great kunoichi in your way."
"Yeah, but I still wish I could study under Tsunade-sama," Tenten muttered wistfully.
"If Guy-sensei hears that, he'll cry," Kirito teased, nodding toward the front of the group.
At the front, Guy was walking alongside Lee, his face glowing with determination.
"Lee," Guy said, "this mission may have been meant for Kakashi's team, but as his eternal rival, we will handle it better than he ever could.
"This is an A-rank escort mission, which means there may be combat. You've just recovered, so don't push yourself too hard. Let your youthful fire burn, but don't let it fizzle out too soon!"
"I understand, Guy-sensei! I will fight with the full flames of my youth!" Lee declared, his voice brimming with passion.
"Yes! That's the spirit!" Guy's enthusiasm ignited as well, and the two became literal beacons of energy, blinding those walking behind them.
The group soon arrived at the studio where the crew of The Great Adventure of Princess Fuun was preparing for their journey.
"Hello, we're the Konoha ninjas assigned to your mission," Guy announced.
"Ah, I'm Sandayū Asama, manager of Miss Yukie Fujikaze," said a bespectacled middle-aged man. He eyed the team skeptically. "I was expecting Kakashi..."
"Kakashi is on another mission," Guy explained. "But don't worry! As his eternal rival, I guarantee we'll complete this mission flawlessly. You won't be disappointed!"
Sandayū hesitated but eventually nodded. "All right. I'll leave Miss Yukie's safety in your hands."
As the team entered the studio, Tenten immediately gravitated toward the actors, her eyes sparkling. "Wow, they're all so glamorous!"
The crew of The Great Adventure of Princess Fuun was indeed an impressive sight, with their polished appearances and confident demeanor.
"Where's the princess?" Lee asked, scanning the area for Yukie Fujikaze, the star of the film.
"She's probably snuck out again," Sandayū sighed. "Ever since she learned we were filming the final scenes in the Land of Snow, she's been extremely resistant and often sneaks away."
"Why would she do that?" Tenten asked curiously.
Sandayū hesitated before shaking his head. "I'm not sure..."
"Should we wait for her to come back?" Tenten suggested, poking at the various props scattered around the studio.
"We'll need to find her," Sandayū said grimly. "If left to her own devices, she might not return at all."
"Let me help," Kirito offered, activating his Byakugan. His vision swept across the entire town and its surrounding areas, scanning for Yukie. Within moments, he found her in a small, remote restaurant, seated alone and clearly intoxicated.
"She's in a restaurant on the outskirts of town," Kirito informed Sandayū .
Sandayū's eyes widened. "Amazing... The stories about the Byakugan are true." He quickly gathered a few crew members and set off to retrieve Yukie.
While Sandayū was gone, Guy introduced a middle-aged man with white hair and a hat.
"This is the director of The Great Adventure of Princess Fuun," Guy said. "He'll be coordinating the mission with us."
The director shook hands with the group and began discussing the logistics of their journey to the Land of Snow.
Not long after, Sandayū returned, dragging a very drunk Yukie Fujikaze behind him.
"Nooo... I don't want to go to the Land of Snow! It's so stupid..." Yukie slurred, struggling weakly.
"Can she really play Princess Fuun like this?" Tenten asked skeptically.
"Absolutely," the director replied with conviction. "Miss Yukie is one of the most professional actresses I've ever worked with. When the cameras are rolling, she's perfect."
"If you say so..." Tenten muttered, eyeing Yukie doubtfully.
Kirito watched the scene unfold in silence. He vaguely remembered Yukie's backstory from the Naruto movie but struggled to recall the details. I really should've paid more attention to those theatrical versions...
After Yukie was subdued and settled into her quarters, the crew began loading their props and equipment onto a large ship.
The director clapped his hands. "All right, everyone! Get some rest tonight. We set sail for the Land of Snow at dawn!"
