Naruto: Tobirama Reborn, Invincible in the Ninja World

Chapter 60: Chapter 60: Orochimaru's Discovery

Present Time

In the underground lab of the Sound Village in the Land of Rice Fields, Orochimaru lay motionless on a surgical table. Beside him, Kabuto Yakushi worked meticulously, a pair of forceps in his hand, carefully manipulating the tissues around Orochimaru's eyes.

As Kabuto connected the final optic nerve, he exhaled deeply and wiped the sweat from his forehead with a handkerchief. Orochimaru's breathing quickened as Kabuto spoke softly.

"Orochimaru-sama, the Sharingan has been successfully transplanted."

Kabuto's voice carried a hint of worry as he continued, "But with the Crystal Release Kekkei Genkai already integrated into your body, I wonder if there might be a rejection. Are you sure it wasn't too hasty to undergo the Sharingan transplantation?"

Concern was etched across Kabuto's face. After all, possessing two Kekkei Genkai simultaneously was unprecedented in the history of the ninja world. If this works, Orochimaru will be the first. But if it fails... The potential consequences were terrifying. No one could predict what kind of rejection might occur between two different Kekkei Genkai.

Orochimaru did not respond to Kabuto's question. Instead, he raised his right hand, though it trembled violently.

"Are you all right?" Kabuto quickly stepped forward to support him.

"I'm fine... but something feels... strange."

Orochimaru's body felt peculiar, a sensation he couldn't quite describe. He slowly opened his eyelids, revealing his newly transplanted eyes. The blood-red Sharingan gleamed, the three tomoe spinning lazily within.

"It worked?" Kabuto's face lit up with joy, and he eagerly asked, "Orochimaru-sama, can you try evolving the Sharingan into the Mangekyō form? Also, is your Crystal Release still usable?"

"Let's see." Orochimaru gave a faint nod, his lips curling into a satisfied smile. He, too, was curious.

Channeling the chakra in his newly transplanted Sharingan, the three tomoe began to spin rapidly. In moments, they morphed into a spiral-shaped Mangekyō pattern.

"It's a success!" Kabuto exclaimed, his excitement palpable.

"No... something's wrong," Orochimaru muttered, his voice tinged with unease.

"What do you mean?" Kabuto was taken aback as Orochimaru's expression grew grim.

"Why is the Mangekyō's power so weak?!" Orochimaru's growl turned into a roar. The Mangekyō Sharingan in his eyes held no significant strength—worse, his vision was already deteriorating. A thick haze obscured his sight, as though a veil of darkness covered his eyes. Even Kabuto, standing right in front of him, appeared blurry.

As realization dawned on him, Orochimaru murmured, "So that's why... That's why Uchiha Itachi always kept his Sharingan in its three-tomoe form. Now I understand!"

The truth hit him hard. Itachi had drained nearly all the power from his Mangekyō Sharingan!

Kabuto, clueless about what Orochimaru had deduced, stared at him in confusion.

"Wait... what if I use Hashirama's cells? Could they restore the Mangekyō's power?" Orochimaru's voice rose as he recalled a vital detail.

Years ago, he had transplanted an arm full of Sharingan onto Shimura Danzo. Non-Uchiha could not deactivate the Sharingan and were burdened by the immense chakra drain. Kakashi Hatake was a prime example. Yet, Danzo's body, augmented by Hashirama's cells, not only sustained the Sharingan but even adapted to Shisui's Mangekyō Sharingan.

If Hashirama's cells can balance the power of the Sharingan, could they also replenish its depleted energy?

Excitement coursed through Orochimaru as he gave a sharp order. "Kabuto, fetch me a sample of Hashirama's cells. Quickly!"

Orochimaru had no shortage of Hashirama's cells. He and Danzo had plundered nearly all usable remains from the First Hokage's tomb.

Kabuto rushed out and returned moments later, carrying a syringe filled with a white, viscous liquid. Orochimaru took the syringe without hesitation and injected its contents directly into his body.

The potent life force contained within the cells surged through him, focusing particularly around his eyes. It was as though his vision was being bathed in rejuvenating energy. Slowly, the darkness dissipated, and clarity returned.

This time, when Orochimaru activated the Mangekyō Sharingan, a streak of blood trickled from his right eye. Black flames of Amaterasu burst forth, igniting everything within his line of sight.

"Orochimaru-sama!" Kabuto gasped, stunned by the sight.

Orochimaru stared at the black flames, momentarily lost in thought. Then, a sinister smile spread across his face.

"Ah... So it's true. Hashirama's cells can indeed replenish the Mangekyō Sharingan's power." Orochimaru's serpentine tongue darted out to lick his lips. He had uncovered a tremendous secret.

Senju Hashirama... Orochimaru marveled at the implications. The First Hokage, who had no Uchiha bloodline, could still augment the Mangekyō Sharingan.

Could this be connected to the Sage of Six Paths?

The thought sent a shiver down Orochimaru's spine. If the Uchiha and Senju clans were both tied to the Sage of Six Paths, the possibilities were staggering.

Suppressing his wandering thoughts, Orochimaru focused on his newfound power. Smiling, he activated his Crystal Release. At the same time, his left Mangekyō Sharingan spun rapidly.

A crescent-shaped crystalline blade formed on his left arm, igniting with black Amaterasu flames under the influence of his eye technique. With a flick of his wrist, the blade shot forward like a spring.

Boom!

The crystal blade shattered the lab wall, leaving a deep fissure. The steel framework within was incinerated by the Amaterasu flames, reduced to nothingness.

Kabuto adjusted his glasses, his face pale with shock. "Incredible... Orochimaru-sama, you've actually balanced two Kekkei Genkai—and perfectly fused them!"

His awe was unmistakable, admiration pouring from his eyes.

"Orochimaru-sama, you've done it! Not only have you solved the Mangekyō Sharingan's energy problem, but you've also achieved a flawless combination of two bloodline limits. This is..." Kabuto trailed off, struggling to find words for his amazement.

Orochimaru's smile never wavered. "Yes. Who would've thought Hashirama's cells had such potential?"

With this new body, Orochimaru felt he had surpassed even legends like Uchiha Madara and Senju Hashirama.

But power was not his ultimate goal—immortality was. And this was yet another crucial step on his path to eternity.
