Naruto :Uchiha's Reincarnation

Chapter 7: Chapter 7

"Wonderful tactical design," Kato Dan commented thoughtfully. "I see the strategy now—using the Great Fireball Jutsu to obscure the enemy's vision and force them to reveal their trump card, and then using the Substitution Jutsu to execute a sneak attack when their guard is down. It's a smart play."

Kato Dan's analysis was spot on. After hearing his explanation, Gekkō Harate finally accepted his defeat.

Not that he had any other means to counter Haruto's tactics. Even if he did, Uchiha Haruto had additional methods up his sleeve.

"Eh!" Gekkō Harate sighed, stepping forward to perform the seal of reconciliation with Haruto.

"You're impressive..." Harate admitted. "I thought I was one of the top Genin from my class, but to lose to a ninja academy student... My teammates are going to have a field day with this."

Haruto smiled and responded, "I could tell you're strong. Honestly, I didn't have much chakra left. If it wasn't for that strategy, I would have definitely lost."

"A loss is a loss," Harate said with a shake of his head. "Tactics and intelligence are just as important in a ninja fight as strength. You outsmarted me, and that's just as good as outpowering me."

He patted Haruto on the shoulder, "I'll be looking forward to seeing you rise in the village. That way, I won't feel so bad about losing to you."

Kato Dan watched the interaction from the sidelines and nodded approvingly. The younger generation of Konoha was proving to be quite promising.

"Si... Si Guoyi!" Tetsuo exclaimed in disbelief as he looked at Uchiha Haruto.

"You actually defeated a Genin two years older than us! Mr. Haruto, I think you've secured the top spot in the graduation assessment!"

Inuzuka Tsume shared the same expression of shock.

Haruto's victory over a Genin two years older than him had spread quickly among the other students. So far, Haruto was the only one who had defeated his opponent in the exam.

At the time, the students had been divided into ten groups for their matches. By the time Haruto finished his battle with Gekkō Harate, many of the other candidates had already completed their exams. Several of them had witnessed Haruto activating his Sharingan and engaging in a fierce duel with Harate.

Despite this, the other students from Haruto's class had also performed well. After all, they were from a key class, and Konoha, in desperate need of combat power due to the war, wasn't likely to let many fail. The standards were lowered somewhat—so long as one could use basic chakra control and throw shuriken, they were considered fit enough to be sent to the battlefield as low-level cannon fodder to draw the enemy's attention.

Once the graduation exam ended, Furukawa stood once again at the podium, calling the students up one by one and personally tying Konoha's ninja headbands around their foreheads.

As each student stood before him, Furukawa looked at them carefully, trying to memorize their faces. He knew that for some of them, if they didn't return from the battlefield, he might be the only one who remembered them.

But this wasn't necessarily the final goodbye between these students and their teacher. In three days, they would gather again for class placements.

"Well, see you all in three days," Haruto said, picking up his backpack and bidding farewell to his companions.

"Haruto, you may be number one now, but I'm telling you, I'll be the first to become a Chunin, and after that, I'll be Hokage!" Tetsuo boasted as he waved energetically. "Don't let me catch up to you too easily—otherwise, where's the fun in that?"

Tsume chuckled, watching Tetsuo as they all parted ways at the door of the academy.

After returning home, Haruto received a notification from a member of the Konoha Police Force, summoning him to meet the clan leader.

The former head of the Uchiha clan had passed away the previous year, and the current clan leader was Uchiha Fugaku, who had just taken over the role. Fugaku, despite being in his early twenties, was already powerful, boasting a three-tomoe Sharingan. With his father's connections still intact and the current period of peace between the Uchiha and the village (unlike the turmoil that would come with the Nine-Tails attack), his position as clan leader was secure.

Haruto had anticipated this summons. The Uchiha clan highly valued its bloodline, and those who could awaken the Sharingan were given even more importance. With the clan's intelligence network, it was inevitable that Fugaku would learn that Haruto had awakened his Sharingan.

After politely seeing off the Chunin from the police force who had delivered the message, Haruto quickly washed his face, tidied his clothes, and made his way to the patriarch's residence.

It was crucial to be respectful, especially when dealing with the head of the clan.

Upon arriving, Haruto marveled at the grandeur of Fugaku's mansion. There was even a small pond inside the property. The Uchiha clan hadn't yet been relocated to the outskirts of Konoha, as they would be after the Nine-Tails Rebellion. At this time, they still resided close to the heart of the village, where every inch of land was precious. Owning such a magnificent estate in this prime location was a clear symbol of the clan's status.

Inside the mansion's living room, Haruto sat on the tatami, his posture formal as he addressed the man before him. The room itself was elegant, with luxurious decorations, and the floor was covered with a fine carpet. A large, prominent picture of the Uchiha clan's red and white fan symbol hung on the central wall.

"Lord Fugaku," Haruto said respectfully.

Uchiha Fugaku, the young man seated before him, had a somewhat severe expression, though it seemed he was trying to soften it.

"Haruto, welcome," Fugaku said, his tone measured. "I remember your parents—Chiji and Rina. I'm sure they would be proud to see you today, having awakened your Sharingan and proven yourself as a capable Uchiha."

Fugaku slid a cup of tea toward Haruto and invoked the memory of Haruto's parents, playing the familial card.

"Thank you, Lord Fugaku," Haruto replied, humbly. "I'm only a newly-graduated Genin. I have a long way to go before I can become a truly capable ninja."

Fugaku managed to crack a smile, though it still appeared serious. "Your father, Chiji, and I had a good relationship. When I first joined the police force, he looked out for me."

There was a hint of nostalgia in Fugaku's voice. He had indeed been close to Haruto's father, Uchiha Chiji, especially when Fugaku was first starting out. Although it wasn't entirely altruistic—Fugaku's father, the former clan leader, ensured that everyone in the police force took care of Fugaku, making sure he had a smooth path in his early career.

Haruto smiled politely but remained cautious. He knew that Fugaku's words, while kind, also carried the weight of expectation.

As the head of the Uchiha clan, Fugaku would undoubtedly be keeping a close eye on Haruto's progress. The clan's future rested on the shoulders of its young, and Haruto, now a Sharingan wielder, was expected to contribute greatly to that future.
