24: The Stage Is Set Up

The Scroll of forbidden jutsu's (封印の書, Fūin no

Sho) is a top-secret scroll that records all the forbidden techniques of the

village. It's something only successive Hokage and a few select individuals are

allowed to view.

'We must find Menma as soon as

possible! Mistakes cannot continue to extend!' Iruka thought, clenching his

hands tightly.

Meanwhile, Menma was in a jungle a

short distance away from the area agreed upon with Mizuki. He leisurely

prepared to open the Scroll of forbidden jutsu's and examine the high-level

ninjutsu, secret techniques, and forbidden techniques recorded in it. Naruto,

in the original story, learned the Multiple Shadow Clone Technique (影分身の術, Kage

Bunshin no Jutsu) from this book. Menma hoped to gain even more.

As Menma suspected, Sarutobi Hiruzen

had precautions in place. The Anbu trailing him were part of it, but there was

also a trick in the Scroll of forbidden jutsu's. Sarutobi Hiruzen had set up a

special seal on it.

Menma's face remained unchanged, but

his heart sank. He cursed inwardly, 'I knew this old guy wouldn't let me see

the Book of Sealing so confidently. It turns out there's a sealing technique on

it, and I can't see the content behind it!'

Sarutobi Hiruzen's safety measure

ensured Menma could only access limited information. In the original story,

Naruto didn't trigger the sealing technique because he only viewed the Multiple

Shadow Clone Technique.

Menma's targets were the Flying

Thunder God Technique (飛雷神の術, Hiraishin no Jutsu) and the Dead

Demon Consuming Seal (屍鬼封尽, Shiki Fūjin). The former was

excellent for combat and escape, while the latter intrigued Menma because of

its association with the Death God. But now, everything was in vain. The only

technique he could see was the Rasengan (螺旋丸).

Remote monitoring via the Telescope

Technique, elite Anbu in close pursuit, and the special seal arrangement on the

Book of Sealing left Menma with no chance of seeing the techniques he desired.

Greed for more had led to this disappointment.

'Forget it, anyway, it was expected.

If you can't see it, then you can't see it. After all, it's not nothing!' Menma

exhaled lightly, readjusting his mentality.

The Scroll of forbidden jutsu's

still contained valuable techniques: Rasengan, Shuriken Shadow Clone Technique

(手裏剣影分身の術, Shuriken Kage Bunshin no Jutsu), and the Five Elements

Seal (五行封印,

Gogyō Fūin). These were high-value techniques, making this trip worthwhile for

Menma.

'Time is tight, hurry up!' Menma

whispered, looking up at the moon half-covered by dark clouds. He buried his

head and studied these techniques seriously. He didn't need to master them

immediately; he just needed to remember the core details. Menma's memory of how

Jiraiya taught Naruto to learn Rasengan was helpful but not clear. The detailed

records in the Scroll of forbidden jutsu's, based on his father Minato

Namikaze's experiences, would make mastering Rasengan only a matter of time.

Time passed by the second as Menma

forcibly imprinted all the limited A-level and above techniques' cores into his

brain. The first one he mastered was the Multiple Shadow Clone Technique. Menma

seemed to have inherited the same talent as the original protagonist, mastering

this technique at a glance. The technique itself wasn't difficult, with a

simple seal. However, learning it didn't guarantee its effective use.

Both the Shadow Clone Technique (影分身の術, Kage

Bunshin no Jutsu) and the Multiple Shadow Clone Technique required a high

amount of chakra. Normally, clones shared the main body's chakra. Even if

mastered at the highest level, controlling the chakra allocation was crucial.

This made the technique situational.

For Menma, this was no issue. Even

without counting the Nine-Tails' chakra, he had an abundance of chakra. The

Shadow Clone Technique could be easily mastered.

'It's almost time. I'd better go see

that lovely mizuki sensei  as soon as

possible,' Menma thought, estimating that time was almost up. He closed the Scroll

of forbidden jutsu's, carried the giant scroll as usual, and swiftly moved to

the 'assessment delivery point' agreed upon with Mizuki.

When Menma arrived, Mizuki's upright

figure was already there. Seeing Menma with the Scroll of forbidden jutsu's,

Mizuki's pupils revealed a touch of ecstasy. Originally, Mizuki wasn't sure

about his plan's success, but he felt a 50-50 chance. Even if he failed, he

believed he could push all responsibility onto Menma, considering him a

Nine-Tails demon fox.

Now, with the perfect result, Mizuki

couldn't suppress his joy.

"Mizuki sensei ! This is the

mission target—the Scroll of forbidden jutsu's. I should have completed the

mission!" Menma said with a normal expression. He stepped forward, placing

the Scroll of forbidden jutsu's down near Mizuki.
