Chapter 1255 Doesn't Have Much Time Left
"The first woman whose eyes I poked was Father's old friend. The moment Father saw her, he kidnapped her and took her to the corner of the world where no one was around and did bad things to her…"
When Evan heard Elora's words, his expression changed, and he stared at her in disbelief.
'What a demon!' He thought to himself, feeling as though she was deliberately trying to frame him.
However, as the initial shock faded, Evan recalled what had happened when he met Valery, and his eyes turned strange as he realised Elora wasn't entirely wrong.
She was right that the first woman whose eyes she poked was indeed his old friend. She was also correct about him immediately kidnapping Valery and taking her to the Atlantic—a remote and desolate corner of the world—after noticing a soul strand hiding in her core.
As for "doing bad things" to her? Well, if kidnapping someone and then beating them to the brink of death counted as "bad," then yes, he had certainly done that.
Suddenly, Evan realized that everything Elora had told Anastasia was factually accurate. But for some reason, the way she had phrased it twisted the meaning entirely.
'Damn it. I shouldn't have introduced her to anime when we were on Earth. Only in those messed-up anime shows do people use this kind of language that leads to misunderstandings,' He thought bitterly.
Just as he was about to defend himself—
"What a good player!" Sylvan's muffled voice called out, interrupting his thoughts.
Evan turned toward the voice and saw Sylvan lying in the pit, barely able to move, yet still managing to give him a thumbs-up.
Evan's face darkened at the sight, and he immediately used his spiritual power to gather a mass of debris and mud from the surroundings, dumping it unceremoniously into the pit Sylvan lay in, completely burying him.
"He just got a good beating, but he still doesn't understand," Evan grumbled as he turned his head toward Ashley to vent his frustration.
But before he could say anything, he froze as Ashley was also giving him a thumbs-up. To make things worse, she even took out a high-level healing pill and offered it to him.
"You might need this in case you suffer too much during... domestic violence," She said in a serious voice.
Black lines formed on Evan's forehead as he snatched the pill from her hand. Still, he carefully placed it into his shadow storage without a word.
'Personal feelings on one side, freebies on the other,' He thought firmly. He wasn't petty enough to refuse something useful just because he was annoyed.
Besides, while his healing abilities were decent, having an extra card to play was never a bad idea in case he really suffered from Anastasia's hands.
After safely storing the pill, Evan turned his attention back to Elora, who had begun recounting the other women whose eyes she had poked. Fortunately, her descriptions of the others were normal and didn't slander him further.
When Elora finished speaking, she looked up at Anastasia expectantly, her eyes shining with anticipation. Her look was clear—she wanted praise, but more importantly, she wanted her eight jumbo feasts.
"Good job, sweetie. I will prepare your reward as soon as we get home," Anastasia said, patting Elora's head affectionately. She glanced at Evan, who stood nearby with an unreadable, expressionless face.
Elora's eyes lit up with joy at Anastasia's promise, and she began to drool slightly in anticipation. But suddenly, a thought struck her, and she turned her gaze toward the ice cocoon containing Valery.
She stared at the cocoon for a moment, then shifted her guilty-looking eyes to Evan. Hugging Anastasia tightly, she leaned closer to whisper again.
"Mother, the first woman whose eyes I poked is sleeping inside that ice ball…" Elora said softly. Then, after a brief pause, she glanced nervously at Evan, noticing his twitching, expressionless face. Clinging even tighter to Anastasia, she added, "While carrying her here, Father was very careful, as if afraid of hurting her. He didn't let anyone else get near it."
"Oh…" Anastasia responded, her tone intrigued as her eyes narrowed, focusing on the ice cocoon.
Sensing Anastasia's growing interest, Elora seized the moment to push for more.
"Mom, since I told you this secret, can you increase the number of jumbo feasts to ten?" She asked, her eyes shining.
'What a good daughter…' Evan thought with a dumbfounded expression. 'She sold me out just to get some extra food.'
A deep sense of betrayal filled him. Suddenly, he felt as though Elora wasn't as cute as before.
'I ruined her by introducing her to anime. Watching too many of them has turned her into a little menace who doesn't care about me anymore,' He lamented inwardly.
"I will make as many jumbo feasts as you want," Anastasia assured Elora, putting her down gently. "Go back home and wait for me. I will be there soon."
Elora's face lit up with delight. She gave Evan one last guilty glance before vanishing with a smile, her expression seeming to say, Some sacrifices are necessary for a lot of food.
Evan's mouth twitched at her blatant betrayal, watching her disappear.
"Is she really your friend?" Anastasia asked, finally turning her attention to him as she approached the ice cocoon.
Evan nodded stiffly. "Yes, she is from the Arora World—the lower world I came from before arriving in Utopia."
Anastasia didn't respond. She placed her hand on the cocoon, her brows furrowing slightly as she felt the intense cold radiating from it. However, she ignored the chill and scanned the cocoon with her spiritual senses.
Noticing her intent focus, Evan grew uneasy. Fearing she might do something to Valery, he quickly added.
"She is just a normal friend. Nothing like what that little devil described to you."
Anastasia rolled her eyes at his hasty explanation. Withdrawing her hand from the cocoon, she stopped her spiritual scan and turned toward Evan, her expression serious.
"This friend of yours doesn't have much time left."
Evan's expression changed at her words. "What do you mean?" He asked in a low voice.
"I mean exactly what I said. She doesn't have much time left… She is dying."
